But because he had a good game against Norway, the anti-Kessel forces say that it proves how bad the Norwegians are. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Good players expose the weaknesses of bad teams. Good players should have good games against bad teams. The real challenges lie ahead. Great players step up and produce in big games. One game against a bad team isn't much of a test. Let's see where Team USA ends up in the tournament, who produces in tough situations and who disappears. That will prove something.

I want to thank everyone who wrote to express their condolences. I really appreciate your thoughts. My Grandma Miller died in Pierre, S.D., on Tuesday. She was 97 and had been in poor health for some time. So it wasn't a great shock when she passed away. The funeral in Pierre was nice and I got see a lot of family friends and relatives who I hadn't seen in years. We shed some tears for Grandma and we also shared stories about the good times with her. Nobody likes attending funerals around the holidays, but they can serve as a reminder of how fortunate we are to have such wonderful friends and family. And for me, that includes the Fighting Sioux family here. Thanks again for your thoughts and concern. Merry Christmas to all.

This column from canadaeast.com tells of an incident at a Canadian hockey game in which fans of an opposing team directed racial slurs against the visiting team's Ojibwa head coach. Using NCAA logic, Nolan and all other minority coaches should be banned from hockey. After all, it's their presence at the games that caused fans to engage in racist behavior, creating a hostile and abusive environment.

I found another more recent time that UND and Harvard played, but it wasn't listed as a home game.
