    USA vs. CZECH

    USA! USA! USA! USA!
  2. I guess redwing77 was right. The big problem in this country, according to KTF, is capitalism. Fix that and all problems will be solved.
  3. Not really. I don't think who said what when for what reason makes a single bit of difference to the NCAA. I thought he was Swiss. But what does that situation have to do with the Sioux nickname and hockey? Did Dave Hakstol demand that this person be hired? Once again, you use the actions of a few idiots to tar the entire community of Grand Forks. Nice. There should be no racism anywhere against anyone. Period. But that ideal world doesn't exist. As GrahamKracker has so eloquently made clear on this board, it doesn't even exist between tribes. Actually, most of the white people in the community I've met who are "fascinated" by Indian heritage and culture are those who favor dropping the Sioux nickname. The vast majority of people understand the difference between naming a team after the long-gone Sioux warriors of the plains and the Sioux people who still exist. It's really not a difficult distinction for the average person to make. But there are a few literal-minded people who, for some reason, can't see logic or reason. They insist that everyone must conform to their warped version of reality because their feelings and emotions trump the rights of others. Please provide some documented proof that the US government is threatening to take away any Sioux tribe's status because of UND's use of the Sioux nickname. Until you can do that, your argument has absolutely nothing to do with this issue.
  4. Perhaps you can provide a link to a resolution passed by the Spirit Lake tribal council that overturns the December 2000 resolution.
  5. Wrong again. The entire Spirit Lake tribal council has not voted to rescind or replace its December 2000 resolution. Until it does so, that remains the last official position of the council. The September 2005 vote of the United Tribes of North Dakota does not overturn that resolution. Spirit Lake tribal council members have had plenty of time and plenty of opportunities to officially and formally change the tribe's position. They have not done so. Why?
  6. C'mon, boys, let's win this thing! USA! USA! USA! USA!
  7. Let's win it with a shortie!
  8. You're welcome!
  9. AZSIOUX posts lots of good information on this board and his post to the original thread-starter was entirely appropriate.
  10. I'm not. You are.
  11. Spin it however you want, but the last official act by the Spirit Lake tribal council was in support of UND's use of the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo.

What color shades would you expect sports fans to wear on a Web site called SiouxSports.com?
  13. I said last season that this season would be Hakstol's greatest coaching challenge. I stand by that statment. Under very trying circumstances, Hakstol, Berry and Eades proved themselves by getting the Sioux into the championship game of the Frozen Four after pretty much everyone had written the team off in late February. I don't think the problem is with the coaches. Hakstol's style has been to be tough on the team in the locker room but not to crticize them publicly. Well, last night, that changed. He purposely criticized the team's lack of effort, and he did so reluctantly. I could tell that he wanted to say a lot more than he did, but he held his tongue and had a tough time doing it. I believe that as a coach, you don't want to give your team excuses to lose games. That's why Hakstol wouldn't use the absence of Oshie, Toews, Lee and Chorney as an excuse. The way that the entire team played in the first 45 minutes of the game, it's difficult to claim that having those four players on the ice would have made the difference. I've seen enough home games this season to know that when the Sioux have off night, it seems to affect the entire team. Ted Donato said after the game that the team UND put on the ice last night has players who can blow open a game and that you don't want to give them too many chances to do that. So even he recognizes that without the four Sioux freshman, his team has to play an outstanding defensive game to beat UND. As others have said, it's way too early to write off this team. I continue to believe that it has the talent to win a national championship. The coaches have proven that they have the ability to get UND there. It's now a matter of how much the players want it.
  14. That is correct. Posting the full text of copyrighted articles is forbidden.
  15. I listened from the beginning of the second period through most of the third period and heard Chorney's name several times. I don't know how much he's playing, but he is playing.
  16. Spirit Lake Nation
  17. USA! USA! USA! USA!
  18. They're very multicultural, too.
  19. Those Finnish fans travel well, don't they?
  20. All you need to know is that any player's name that doesn't end with "enen" is Finnish.
  21. 6-3! USA! USA! USA! USA!
  22. No.
