I believe that I can summarize that "excuse" as follows: Just because NDSU jumped off a cliff doesn't mean that UND should, too. I hope this clears things up for you.
-
A recommendation that was obviously ignored by NDSU and SDSU. But why should UND pay to ignore a consultant when it can do it for free?
-
No, it was a joke.
-
More specifically, my guess would be that he doesn't want opposing players to know.
-
I'll make a deal with UND. They can hire me as their consultant and ignore me at half what it cost NDSU and SDSU.
-
So we can ignore him?

I think you asked and answered your own question.

Hypocrisy? NCAA? Thanks to that fine organization, millions of people around the country were able to see the non-hostile and non-abusive imagery of the Florida State Seminoles on prime-time national television in a championship football game.
-
I didn't say that. I said that unlike any of NDSU's athletic programs, UND's DI hockey program generates a huge amount of positive attention and media coverage for the school around the world, which is true. But thanks for missing the point by coming back with the all-too-predictable "nobody cares" canard. You guys are too easy.
-
NDSU tried that before going DI, remember? No more proof of NDSU's "Little Man's Syndrome" is needed. And no, it's not just about national championships. When's the last time a reporter from the New York Times covered an NDSU athletic event? How often does NDSU football get mentioned in Minneapolis, Denver and Boston newspapers? Since when was NDSU known for producing world-class athletes in any sport? How many big-time professional athletes has NDSU produced compared to UND? Has ESPN ever covered an international athletic event live from an NDSU facility? Hockey and Ralph Engelstad Arena put UND and Grand Forks on the international sports map. Whether or not people are hocky fans, they readily identify UND with the sport and know that the university runs one of the top hockey programs in the country. NDSU has nothing to compare to it, and that's a fact.

I've noticed that for someone with B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in philosophy, Brand certainly loves to fling around legal terms.
-
Yeah, seven Division I national championships will do that do you. NDSU has been chasing UND's Divison I dust for decades and has been the school with envy problem. When NDSU wins a real Division I national championship (I don't count pretend Division I football), then perhaps the Bison can say that they're close to catching up. Until then, their claim of Division I success is all talk.

From Chicago Sports.com: Bradley allowed to keep nickname, for now Wow. We're "held harmless." Thanks, Myles.
-
Watch out! Someone from SDSU might get jealous!

It had to be doubly disappointing to Norwegian-Americans -- like you.

It's a shame that Perky Sparko will be in the first game while Krees Herringbone will not.

I just e-mailed the "candygram" below to Myles Brand. What's good for the goose...

I'm no legal expert and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. However, I'm thinking that when one of your members brings up the potential of an anti-trust lawsuit based on breach of contract and rampant disregard for the NCAA's bylaws, constitution and power structure, you don't stand in front of the organization's entire membership and say: "Hell yes that's what we're doing! Which one of you sorry sods wants to be next?"
-
If anyone's interested, here's a link to Myles Brand's "2006 NCAA State of the Association Address." Note that his message about the NCAA being a catalyst for social change comes through loud and clear.
-
Talk about insensitivity to American Indians! Just look at how NCAA President Myles Brand opened his "2006 NCAA State of the Association Address." How can the NCAA be so totally blind to Teddy's racist comments about Native Americans?

You have to consider who's doing the ripping.

That game is still played each year. There was an article in the Herald about the game last season, which was played at the rink in University Park.

Apparently it comes naturally. Yes. It's right after the meeting about how Dean Blais will be lured back to UND to replace Dave Hakstol. Now you're making sense. As far as I can tell, you're the only one who thinks that we're no longer worried. Thanks. Who said it was blatantly obvious? People speculate here all the time about things that might or might not happen. Or haven't you noticed that? There was a grand total of one newspaper article published in the Herald. It was picked up by the AP and republished in other newspapers. All those newspaper articles said the same thing because they were essentially written by the same person quoting the same two experts. Perhaps you're one of those people who believes everything they read in the paper, but some of us don't. We have the right to express differing opinions. Some people who've expressed differing opinions actually have law degrees. Do you? Some people have speculated that UND has grounds to sue the NCAA for libel or slander or defamation, but I've seen nothing in any of the university's responses to the NCAA that leads me to believe that it's being considered. Frankly, I find it difficult to believe that if UND intended to go down that path, it would be saying that the NCAA's policy was well intentioned. However, when it comes to anti-trust violations, stars2city is absolutley correct that damages in such cases are tripled. And UND is alleging that the NCAA is guilty of anti-trust violations. The NCAA recently paid $55 million to make an anti-trust case go away. But because you're such a great legal expert and have read so many newspaper articles on this subject, perhaps you can tell us why the NCAA suddenly delayed ruling on UND's appeal for four months after the potential of an anti-trust law suit was raised in UND's latest response?
