  1. And who hired Buning, knowing before he was hired that his preference was for UND to move to DI?

    Potts Resigns

Two guest columns in Thursday's Grand Forks Herald spelled out the Potts-Chapman issue quite clearly. HIGHER-ED FOLLIES: Passive-aggressive tactics win out in N.D. higher ed

Lion: Look at the circles under my eyes. I haven't slept in weeks. Tinman: Why don't you try counting sheep? Lion: That doesn't do any good; I'm afraid of 'em.

    Stop the NCAA

There's a new site on the Web called Stop the NCAA! intended to raise political support for HR 5289, the bill in the House. It's mainly an effort to save Chief Illiniwek at the University of Illinois, but there is a link to Kupchella's last letter to the NCAA.
  6. See?

    Because Hockey Mom said so.
  8. It's almost as much fun as pretending to read the minds of Kupchella, Buning, Harmeson, Lennon, et al.

    News on Toews

I'm guessing that the source is either Hakstol, Barry or Eades, but I could be wrong.
  13. Bryan Lundbohm re-signs with the AHL Houston Aeros.
  14. DOH! You're right. I didn't even look at the date. Dang google news alerts! Unofficially, the last I heard was that an injunction or something would be filed before the start of the new school year. Other than that, I haven't heard much.
  15. This Associated Press story has some of the facts wrong, but one thing it successfully does is portray the NCAA policy as being a hopelessly inconsistent mess. Schools fight back on NCAA mascot ban Officials say move haphazard, uneven; most just unhappy with decision
  16. The pictures are no longer online. Sorry.
  17. As I recall, they were a featured band that was invited because of their great reputation. I believe all the schools playing in the tournament had bands present.
  18. Are you referring to the Michigan Tech pep band? I thought they were great and added a lot to the college atmosphere of the tournament. I think their "uniforms" are meant to be more fun than attractive.

    Potts Resigns

The Herald today published Part II of Donald Lemon's op-ed on the Potts resignation.
  20. That's some good editing!
  21. I agree. Every team is different. Lucia has certainly shown that he knows how to win national championships. That's why I don't think coaching has much to do with it. Sometimes a combination of coaching and player leadership is enough to overcome problems and sometimes it isn't. I won't go so far as to say that next season's Gopher team will be better than last season's, but I certainly won't assume that last season' Minnesota meltdown will carry over into next season.

    Potts Resigns

The Grand Forks Herald today published the first part of a two-part series by Donald Lemon, a Chester Fritz Distinguished Professor Emeritus of educational leadership at UND. The first part is entitled: "Higher ed board fails North Dakota."
  23. Symptom of what? Of the Sioux wanting the win more than the Gophers?
  24. I suggest that people knock off the insults and personal attacks unless they want this thread shut down.
  25. In UND's case, I don't think "getting hot" had much to do with it. After losing Robbie Bina, Mike Prpich and Brady Murray during the tournament and losing a heartbreaker in OT to Denver, nobody would have blamed the Sioux for mailing in the third place game against Minnesota. But they didn't. The team rode the momentum from that game all the way to the Frozen Four championship.
