  1. No. It was reaccreditation with a suggestion.
  2. I'm offended!
  3. Someone's just begging The Sicatoka to talk about his "pole."
  4. Nah. It's more like: Once paranoid and delusional, always paranoid and delusional.

That is scary. In another 5-10 years, some of these kids will attempt to vote for a man who can no longer run for president.
  6. I think someone's getting the NCAA mixed up with the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The NCACS reaccredited UND a year or two ago, but in so doing, said the university should dump the nickname and logo.
  7. From United Press International: Group to appeal ruling on Indian mascot And so it goes...
  8. Travis doesn't look very happy. He must miss playing with Oshie.
  9. I like that dictionary because it redefines "health." I, too, want to write my own definition for "health."
  10. Maybe you shouldn't use such big words.

Personally, I'd rather spend my time worrying about and dealing with "things" that are already here rather than imagining and conjuring up "things" that don't exist and aren't likely to.
  12. But can't you say that about pretty much any freshman who has a good first season in the WCHA? Most of those players will obviously be asked to shoulder a greater load their second year and will obviously attract more attention. It's not something that applies only to Oshie.
  13. From the Chicago Tribune: Appeals court sides with Chief Illiniwek This case, it seems to me, is quite a bit different than what UND's case will likely be against the NCAA. But it does show that the courts don't necessarily agree with the name-change acitivists.

The are two big differences between the Jesus camps and the Muslim children being indoctrinated as Jew-hating, American-hating martyrs. The Jesus camps are not the norm in this country. They don't represent mainstream Christianity. The people who run them are marginalized and looked down upon by American society. Our government has little tolerance for such groups when they become prone to violence. (Remember the Branch Dividians?) The exact opposite is true in countries where radical Muslim teachings are the norm. Children are indoctrinated in hate, raised in a culture that glorifies death and taught that violence is the answer to their problems. Anyone who can't see and understand the difference needs a serious dose of reality.
  15. Oh, so now it's MY fault, is it? I have no idea how these players should be ranked in relation to each other. I simply question the idea that Oshie's success last season had more to do with who he played with than with his own play. Of Oshie's 45 points, Zajac was involved in 14 of them, Toews 7 and Stafford 3. It only makes sense that Zajac had the most points of the three because he played on the same line as T.J. for a large part of the season. But it also means Oshie had 21 points in which neither Zajac, Stafford nor Toews were involved.
  16. As I understand it, to get an injunction, UND first must convince a judge that it has a strong case against the NCAA. The injunction isn't issued simply because UND sues.
  17. I read that, but the implication of the HF assessment was that Oshie's stats were inflated by two players with whom he seldom played. I also believe that Oshie's linemates benefitted just as much -- if not more -- than he did from playing with them. Would Zajac have scored UND's fifth goal against Michigan in the NCAA tournament if not for Oshie's hustle, determination and hard work? And anyone who saw T.J.'s outstanding unassisted goal at Denver would know that he didn't need great players around him to make great plays.

As someone who grew up with "average Dick and Jane churchgoers" as parents, I'd say it's far different. And I'd also venture to say that what's being taught at these camps is far out of the mainstream of Christian teaching and parenting. That's what good parents do. They attempt to instill their children with values and beliefs that will help them grow into functioning members of society. Any method of indoctrinating children with extremist views is potentially harmful.
  19. That's because at this moment, warrior_08 is, unfortunately, correct. (It's the blind squirrel and nut principle in action.) Unless something happens legally that prevents the NCAA from enforcing its policy, UND won't be able to host any home playoff games. Am I hopeful that will change? Yes. But until UND files something in court, all any of us can do is hope.
  20. It is, especially now that they have that new crunchy stuff to sprinkle on. Sure, it's a challenge for my Poligrip, but challenges like that keep my mind sharp.
  21. Way to go out on a limb.
  22. What are you talking about? That was a positive comment.
