  1. Thanks a bunch Dunker.

Real cool.  Post another batch when you can.

Big Sioux Legion last night, as always.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That was really cool. Lots of Sioux alumni in the Twin Cities. Any guess as to how many Sioux fans were there?

  2. No offense to UMD fans but:

UW has a lot more to play for than UMD did.  I doubt this game is going to be as "easy" as UMD turned out to be.  UW is playing for their NCAA lives right now, while, by my calculations, even if we lose to UW we're still in the NCAAs.  I admit I haven't tried every scenario on the Committee function, but so far, that's been the case.

Nevertheless, I hope we still beat the dirty Badgers and their diving ways.  I just don't see a high scoring game regardless of how well our offense has been doing and I guarantee you UW will get more shots than UMD did.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

UND will be ready to play as well. I've heard that the boys are chomping at the bit right now to get back on the ice. It will be an interesting weekend.

  3. I guess I'll start the prognostication...

Friday night we usually have our better game, so if I'm going to pick a 3 game series we'll probably have to go with UND first

    UND Friday 3-1

    UMD Saturday 4-2

    UND Sunday 5-4 OT

This is the time when teams show the different directions they're going to go.  Good teams will step up and do what it takes to move to the next level.  The Sioux have been back and forth, and I'm hoping this will be their statement series.

It will be a nailbiting series no doubt.  Much like the Denver series in 2002, which was also won in OT game 3...on an Andy Schneider slapper from the point.  Hopefully history repeats itself, but I'd take Fri/Sat wins to rest for Thursday.  :D

Think I can get FSNN in NY?  :D

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Nobody in the media is giving the Sioux a chance. I hope they prove them wrong. GO SIOUX!

  4. I hope Lee turns out to be better than Kessel.  Wouldn't that just tick the Gopher fans off?  Haha that would be sweet.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That would be great. Just like that highly touted guy they had a couple of year ago that turned out to lay an egg.......lets see I think his name was Spehar.

  5. From Suite 49 sports grill near beautiful Ralph Engelstad Arena, Tim Hennessy and Scott Swygman are the hosts with Sioux hockey coach Dave Hakstol.

TH: The Sioux had a three point weekend against the Badgers and will close out the season at St. Cloud. The people I

  6. Yes, but usually playing on the first line you are playing with more skilled players, i.e. more chances to score.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I'm not I want to saythis but PA and Dubay just said that Lee and Vandevelde are thinking of not coming to UND. Anybody have any insight on this?

  7. Out fo any of the WCHA teams, we owe these punks. Fans, get crazy! THe boys need us. There is still alot of the season left. You heard it hear first.......................THE SIOUX WILL SWEEP!

    GO SIOUX!

  8. This series must be important to BSU because according to Inside College Hockey both Murray (deep thigh bruise) and Erickson (leg stess fractures) will play this weekend against the Sioux.  Surprising that they would risk winning the CHA title in order to do well this weekend.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Well they are play the most prestigous program in the country. They will have a turn to shine.......if it works out that way. :0

  9. FWIW, KRACH predicts UND has a 78.3% chance of winning each game.  That would leave Bemidji with a 4.7% chance of a sweep.

That is, of course, based on both teams' actual performance against chains of common opponents throughout this entire season.  It assumes performance is constant through the season so wouldn't take into account any sort of slump, nor does it account for missing players or other special circumstances.

What it does show us is that UND really is in an entirely different class from Bemidji this year and that if they played 100 games, UND would easily win most.  However, they're only playing 2 and Bemidji (and fans and columnists) smell blood in the water.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I predict that the Sioux will come out flying. They know they are a good team. They just have not had the bounces. Sometimes the Sioux have a tendancy to play down to the level of the competition. This will not happen this weekend. On the other hand the goalies for opposing teams seem to alway bring their best when they play so that is why the games will be close.

  10. I read the recap of the on-line chat from last wed featuring Todd Milewski, the WCHA guys on USCHO.  He was asked how he thought the Final Five would turn out, and while he had to come up with an answer right on the spot, it was interesting that the Sioux were not a team he picked to be there.

Time to start quieting the doubters.  Like Hak said on his radio program.  We can take care of our own problems by winning.

Sioux sweep this weekend.  I like a team that is backed into the corner a little bit.  We've got a bare bones roster, and we can't afford to lose.

I say McMahon will have a good weekend.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

If this doesn't give coach Hakstol some ammo to get these guys ready I don't what will. That Todd Milewski has been dissing the Sioux all year. I would love to see the Sioux win the Final 5 and go on to take the NCAA. And for the CHA correspondant to predict BSU to sweep??!!! C'mon Sioux fans this weekend! Lets get up for this series! The boys have gotten no respect all year. Its time for the fans to help out!

    LETS GO SIOUX!

  11. A Parise was tagged for underage drinking last year? I'd side with you on Bo's issue.

Punk? I'd lay dollars to donuts I am older than you....at least I am not insulting fellow posters...and I'd recount if you think it was 99%...

    WPoS

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Well if your that old and on this board as a gopher fan.........? What about Chris Mcalpine and the whole Lou Nanne and Glen Sonmor issue with Parise? Wooger paying one of your players $500.00 under the table. We acknlowledge our issues but don't well on them. Don't be coming onto our site and start tossing falicies around.

  12. look, you guys HAVE to realise that Greene MAY have done something wrong, but trying to compare to other program's players and what they MAY have done just makes you look like you are trying to sweep it under the rug/justify that it is ok for it to happen.  If you DON'T think UND has had more than it's fair share of issues w/ players and the law recently, you REALLY need to check what color the glasses are on your nose...

    WPoS

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

What the hell are talking about? 99% of the posts here and previous posts are saying to suspend the kid. We can't help it if others who are fans of other teams constanly monitor our website and scrutinize us. We realize that there have been issues with other players. What do you want us to do sit here and cry about it all day? Get a clue punk.

  13. (Since jk has gone a little, how shall we say it, "out there" on us, I figure I can hop on the same bus for a while too since it's warmed up anyway.) :0

The gods of Sioux hockey are confused.

It happened when UND "switched ends" in moving to the new Ralph.

    - Before we defended the south twice; now we defend the north twice.

    - Before students were east; now they're west.

    - Before the home team bench was SW of the ice; now it's NE.

    - Before the Sioux goalie was left of the press box twice; now it's right.

We turned everything around on them, and the logo changed too. Clearly, cause for confusion.

You have to remember: the gods of Sioux hockey really don't venture much beyond about a stick-length or two from the blue paint in their home arena,  although their power has a much greater reach. (Anyone in Albany in 2001 remembers the great thunderstorm they unleashed after the overtime period. Thunderstorms that powerful in Albany in April are as common as SCSU post-season banners.)

They've barely found the new arena. When they did it's all backwards (north-south-wise) to them. To them, no late goals go into the south net because that is how it was at old REA.

However, the gods of Sioux hockey still recognize their mark. The gods of Sioux hockey are with Lammy. Why?

    Look at his mask.

They recognize the old logo. They know he is one of their own and "brush away" some pucks for him. He shows signs of the Jensen/Casey/Belfour/Goehring karma and that comes from the gods of Sioux hockey (plus great skills and preparation, who am I kidding).

But just the same, the gods of Sioux hockey just don't want to let a late goal into a south net at home. Clearly, they are thinking "no late south goal goals" more than watching who is shooting at it. (And they don't recognize the new logo on the jerseys.)

They need to be shown that it is now acceptable, needed, to have late goals go in the south net, that this is not the old REA but the new REA, where their own are now the "defenders of the north" at crunch time.

Why they haven't accepted that yet I do not understand.

But, the gods of Sioux hockey do recognize their mark as evidenced by Lammy. And I have a way to help them understand.

I say have the team wear undershirts with the old logo for a home series, maybe even for that whole week before in practice. Maybe even have the blackhawk and the geometric logos on the undershirt. Let the gods of Sioux hockey understand that the (blackhawk) logo is the (geometric) logo is the (new) logo.

The gods of Sioux hockey will recognize that and respond accordingly and the magic will return.

And then all will be well.

(OK, I'm done now. But I'm left to wonder what kind of smoke that was in jk's bus.)

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Ok, since they are so confused we need to summon the like of John Noah, Ben Cherski and the Christian boys. OK we fixed that now lets run the table!
