  1. Last time I checked Hak was coaching the Sioux, not Red. Whatever happened to "in Hak we trust?" Boy is it ever easy for some people to forget.

I agree. I have the post game blues. I was just asking. I for one will never give-up on the Sioux. I have been with them since I was a little guy. Just hard to take right now. This too shall pass.

  2. Watch the faceoffs between Turris and Oshie. They were continuously yapping at each other. I think Shegos got tired of it and looked for any reason to kick them out.

TH whined about how much UW whined to the officials. I think Shegos did a really good job.

Shegos is the same idiot that screwed us last year against BC. Apparently you can't check in hockey. I was at the game and the calls against UND were horrible. At one point penalties were 6-2. Almost like last year when he tried to make up the calls at the very end of the game in the national semi-final against BC. You gotta let them play the game....within reason. Speaking of face-offs, I have never seen so many players tossed by a line judge 50 ft. away. (In particular UND players). On a side note, in my estimation, Wisconsin must have iced the puck 25-30 times. Don't know if Hennessey mentioned that at all. Broke up alot of UND's momentum when they did have it.

  3. Sorry, but I had to mention this. How can you only have 9500 fans in a building that holds 15K for both Badger games? Throw in the fact that 1-2K were Sioux fans...and it is a joke. UW people will say their fans were all out with the basketball team and they have more teams to support than the Sioux, give me a break! 40,000 or so students, half a million people in the metro area, you would think they would show up for their team. When your team is playing in a huge game like this, you have to show up.

    Anyway. GO SIOUX!

I was at the game. The whole upper section was empty! I think there was less last night than there was on Saturday night!

  4. Put Forney out there, give the kid a chance to get some confidence. That would go a long way.

I agree. The kid has ultra talent. He needs to play more. Can you imagine if he gets going? Like I stated in a earlier post, it would be like picking up a mid-season recruit.

  5. I was trying to compliment your program. From the outside it looks as if you measure yourself against Minnesota in everything. You don't need to do that. You have a tremendous program that doesn't need to out recruit Minnesota for a kid to give it credability. UND stands on its own. The inferiority complex many UND fans seem to have, it doesn't fit your place in College Hockey. With your recent success reaching the Frozen Four, the team and expectations of this year, and recruiting success, I think UND is the measuring stick. Be proud, not obnoxious as some of our fans are and were during our run in early 2000's. Its cyclical, enjoy your current post.

Just clarifying my earlier post. Not trying to judge, our fans are as guilty as any. Rip all you want, it was a compliment.

    Great post.

  6. A few things are evident after watching the fight.

    1. Turris is a coward.

    2. It takes 2 badgers for every Sioux.

    3. The badger announcers are complete homers.

    4. The announcers say that North Dakota is a team like this

that starts these fights when Wisconsin is historically the

biggest clutch and grab team in the country.

    5. Eaves is a whack-job.

  7. Can you imagine if Forney all of sudden just takes off and lives up to his #1 draft choice status? That's like adding a mid-season recruit. I've seen this kid play and he is the real deal. Give him time. He might be a little gun shy right now but he'll be alright. Go Sioux! Go Mike Forney!

  8. I think it is a no brainer for UND to recruit in Manitoba its close and the people in Manitoba know UND equals national power in hockey. I also love it when I see goldies stupid sign that says UND Manitobas

pride on ice. Yep, I don't care where they come from and 7>5... :silly:

Agreed. All the other sports at Minnesota, they recruit around the country. But that's okay according to them and basically they are saying that Manitoba has better players than Minnesota.

  9. I can agree with all of the above check marks as well... I have have to somewhat disagree with devils lake being the best fishing lake ever, but thats off the topic, toews will stay IMO

I agree.......Toews stays and gets number 8 and the Hobey.

  10. We are BIG Lee fans, just as we are BIG fans of damned near every Sioux player, except for a handful of selfish and self-centered dicks who have come and gone over the years. Lee has done everything asked of him. He is solid, smooth, and clever. Granted, he may not be the prototypical Sioux d-man that many of us have come to know and to love, but we have never considered him anything but an asset both to his team and to his University.

Does he make mistakes on the ice? Sure. Just like we all make mistakes in whatever our chosen miserable avocations in the work world may be.

That is one of the many things that make college hockey great. It is played by kids, and kids make mistakes. Mistakes lead to odd-man rushes, spectacular goals, spectacular saves, and sometimes frenzied play. These kids are not pros, and most all of them will never be pros. Pro hockey, by comparison, is boring. Players are rarely out of position. The rarely get their skates crossed. You rarely see odd-man rushes. The players are too good, and the game is too precise.

I'll take college hockey any day, and it kids like Lee, solid both on and off the ice, that make the game as great as it is.

I really get tired of folks griping about Lee. Give the kid a break. He has obviously done much more, and has gone much farther, than any of us here,

at least in his presently chosen passion in life.

We hope he comes back, but would not criticize him if he does not. If he does not return, there will be BIG skates to fill, and we have all seen how long it takes for a young d-man in the WCHA to adjust to the greatest game on earth.

    Bingo!

  11. I posted this on another thread:

Just to add to this. I was lucky enough to greet the team at 12:30 a.m on Monday morning in Fargo. There were only five of us there. Coach Hakstol was the first to get off the charter plane and as we were standing there he came right up to us and asked us what we thought of the game. He even remembered my last name as I had the privilege (sp?) of golfing with him in the Detroit Lakes Sioux-per Swing. He and that staff are first-class all the way. It was awesome. I always know that the players and the coaching staff represent the state and the university in a gentlemanly way with dignity and pride....and to me that is what it is all about because it just carries over to how they play...........with alot of grit, get-up and go, pride and heart. And to me, that's what it is all about. The wins and losses will take care of themselves. Coach Hakstol is 1st class all the way!

    GO SIOUX!

  12. Nope. The first season the hitting from behind rule went into effect, it was an automatic 5-minute major, but that's no longer the case. The ref has the discretion to call a minor or a major and a game misconduct or a game disqualification. This is what the 2006 NCAA rule book now says:

One added note: Joe Finley is absolutley a giant. I always know that the players and the coaching staff represent the state and the university in a gentlemanly way with dignity and pride....and to me that is what it is all about because it just carries over to how they play...........with alot of grit, get-up and go, pride and heart. 14. Win? they have one of the best teams in the country right now, with excellent speed, creativity with the puck and decent goal tending.

Lose? They take too many penalties, the FF loss might put them in a funk, legendary opening round opponent and a defense that allows too many shots on net lately (although mostly from the edges).

I hope you win, if only out of WCHA pride, but I think it's a tough game to call.

I agree they took too many penalties. That being said they were the much more aggressive team. The Sioux were planting Gophers on their butts that whole first period. There was a series there of three consecutive monster hits on Gopher players that was just unbelievable. Thus the penalties were 5-1 in favor of the Gophers. The penalties evened out a little more at the end but you have to call it a little more even than that. That's what Hakstol was harping out. Like Dubay said, that's hockey and hitting is a part of hockey. But yes, the Sioux need to control their emotions just a little bit more and they will be fine.

  15. If there is no FTA and Sensors (Bloomington) cannot pick it up (I suspect they cannot without FTA and no live FOX feed) then perhaps we could get somone to Sling it and we can play it off a laptop (projected to big screen) at Sensors. Not really that hard to do.

Hennesey is great, but will simply not suffice for a regional. Must see TV indeed.

Hell, broadcast the video and listen to Hennesey! Otherwise we have to listen to the drivel on FSN.

  16. That game was probably the most highly skilled game I ever saw. There was so much talent on the ice at one time it was just ridiculous. There was no other team in the country that was going to keep up that pace with either team. It was a fantastic game even though the Sioux lost.

  17. Both what Lamaroux and Wheeler did was inapropriate. It showboating and there is no room for it. Just win with dignity. Off course we are not on the ice and can't hear exchange of barbs thrown at each other which my guess has alot to do with it. I will say this though, how did the Gophers get their hands on those Minot jerseys?
