  1. Thanks for the info. I had a job interview w/ Andy today. I thought one of them played for the Sioux. I remember watching them play for Shanley when I was a kid. I believe there was seven brothers. There dad John was a Sioux all american in the 50's I believe. I think he played on a Olympic team either 56 or 60. I'm too lazy to look it up.

Mr. Noah was on the 52' team that won the silver in Oslo.

  2. On Buchanan and Press on MSNBC on Monday, debating Laura Ingraham. Should be interesting because Schultz likes to refer to Ingraham, Coulter, Serafin as the Blonde Bimbo Brigade.

Oh man, i can't wait to see that. Laura Ingraham will eat him alive! One thing about Ed, true radio hosts know the issues inside and out and he DOES NOT know them. Like President Bush said when he came to Fargo a couple of years ago, "you've got a face made for radio." I almost pissed myselft I laughed so hard. Ed better know the issues inside and out or he will get crushed over the airwaves.

  3. I get enough hockey thrills from watching the Back to Back National Champions down here in the Twin Cities. Gophers Rule.

What a moron. THey looked really tough the other night. What a great night for brown gerbil sports. Giving up an unheard of 31 points in the fourth quarter to a very bad Michigan team and then having Maine shove it up your **s! You should let all your frustrations out by tail-gaiting at the Fargo building. (It's not even a dome)......ooops, can't do that either. Please.

  4. Lets see, after the game we get to go watch the #3 team in the nation in college hockey play the the #1 team in the natin in Boston College. Who do the Bisssson

play? For that weekend anyway NDSU can live vicariously through UND.......again!

    :):(

Sorry Sic, that was for Bisssssonmav....whaever that stands for.

  5. Personally, I rather enjoy being the "one" in DII #1 Grand Valley State's "won 39 of their last 40 games" press release this week. ;)

  6. I have a strong idiot reflex, and there are plenty of them on both poi and here. Take flatspin and sprig they are prime examples of idiots. Sicatoka brings something decent to the table for a sioux fan. Panzer is by far the best player in the whole world you are all right and I am wrong. Even though pohl led the nation in scoring and was runner up as a sophomore, He obviously has no talent and you guys are right.

Now your making sense. I knew you would come around eventually. Face it yellowbelly, you were run out of town on USCHO. Your fellow gopher fans can't even stand you. Now please leave.

  7. I just love yellowdog. What a moron. Yep your right. The world revolves around anyone who has played for the gerbils. I've seen both of them play alot of hockey. I've even seen them play out east on that team. Johnny Pohl is nowhere near the complete player Jeff Panzer is. Panzer actually cares about the team in the way he plays defense as well. Please yellowdog. If your going to add something with some depth or insight at try to hide your tunnel vision!

  8. Pivetz was Canadian. Mitch Vig is from Bismarck. So was Theel (Notre Dame) and Peluso (Duluth). There were a few other Bismarck kids that played out east.

Jacob Hipp is playing for Shattuck and is very good. Hopefully, he will go to UND.

    Great info. Thanks!

    GO SIOUX!

  9. Bismarck has lately been sending some kids to UND with Massen and Sedevie coming. Wasn't Pivetz from there as well? I could be wrong. Does anyone know of upcoming Bismarck kids or for that matter the state of North Dakota kids that have D-1 potential that WILL come to Grand Forks and not Minneapolis. We have got stop that pipeline.

  10. I think it will be glory for the Sioux. I really think that the Sioux will be there in the end but so will the Gophers. Just to expand a little bit on Hammy's point is the "target" that teams wear. The challenge to the players and the coaching staff is what they do with that challenge. The sign of a great team is being able to get through that rough period of the year when you may be losing a game here or there along with a few ties and using that as a learning tool on how finish off opponents as the gophers showed this year. My point is there are some teams that play with a target on their backs all the time. The only two that come to mind are the Sioux and and the Gophers on any given year.

  11. I should correct myself. Back then they took a look at Grand Forks and said these guys are so good because they have had more sheets of ice. So that 's when Moorhead started to make a real commitment to youth hockey and it has paid off. But you are right, they did not pattern themselves after their style of play.

  12. Both Grand Forks and Fargo are great hockey towns. But Grand Forks is clearly a leader by a wide margin in my estimation. Red River and Central can and do compete on a regular basis with Warroad and Roseau. Grand Forks benefitted from years of having ice when nobody else did, even the northern Minnesota teams. Moorhead actually patterned its peewee's, squirts and bantam after the Grand Forks program after they started to get more ice. I really think though that Grand Forks and North Dakota in general are turning out better quality D-1 prospects due to the increased ice sheets going up. I looked on the Lincoln Stars website the other day and they have 8 kids from North Dakota on that team. No wonder they are so damn good. Although it might have something to do with Steve Johnson being thier coach. Either you look at it a person has to agree that the more sheets go up the better the hockey D-1 prospects within the state of North Dakota. And then the Sioux will not have to go as far to get great players to bring home number 8!

    GO SIOUX!

  13. FINALLY, A SIOUX FAN WITH SOME INTELLIGENT MESSAGING!!! You guys before TeamSioux are speaking before thinking. How can you guys talk how bad the Bison schedule is before looking at your own? Lets just do a little comparing in the scheduling:

Bison Game 1: Tusculum 7-4, last year, 5th place in the South Atlantic Conf.

Sioux Game 1: Minnesota-Crookston 1-10, last year, last place in NSIC.

Bison Game 2: at Montana 11-3, quarterfinalist in I-AA playoff, tied for Big Sky Conference crown

Sioux Game 2: at Mesa State, 5-6, third place in RMAC

Bison Game 3: California-Davis, 9-3, independent, quarterfinalist in D2 playoff.

Sioux Game 3: Newberry 1-10, last year, last place in South Atlantic Conf.

Bison Game 4: Concordia-St. Paul, 9-2, third place in NSIC

Sioux Game 4: no game scheduled (as of yet)

Lets compare. NDSU's non-conference opponents total combined records from last year: 36-12 (.750 winning pct). UND's combine opponents total combined records from last year: 7-26 (.269 winning pct). This isn't even going into the fact that Montana and Cal-Davis are a higher class. Even if we would throw that out, I suggest Sioux fans look for facts before posting how bad our scheduling is. You better look in the mirror first.

Your the ones going D-1 and still bringing in weak D-II opponents.

  14. Tradition. That's all that Sioux hockey is! There is no other school in the country that comes close to what the University of North Dakota is all about. Michigan and the Gophers can talk all they want. We have the unique name, the mystique, the tradition, all the players in the NHL, people all around the world that follow Sioux Hockey. There is nothing else like it in the college ranks.....of any sport in my opinion. Everybody wants what we have. The tradition, the loyal, die-hard, fanatic fans who can't get enough of Sioux hockey. No matter what happens at the end of every year of Fighting Sioux hockey, it still gains in popularity. Just to play for the program is an honor in itself and that is how we recruit our players as well. Hard working clean-cut kids who leave everything on the ice every weekend night. Sioux hockey will live forever. I can't wait till dry-land practice starts again!

    GO SIOUX! :D

  15. Well, it started out being about the article someone wrote in the NDSU student paper about the fall of UND hockey. Then it kind of got moved to a NDSU vs. UND thing.

The original intent was discussing a school without hockey bashing a school about their hockey team. Rather humurous if you consider the excellent grammar skills and quality of research in the NDSU article.

Unlike Bison Footbal, Sioux hockey has not fallen.

  16. FYI sioux7

Concordia is a Division II school in the Northern Sun. They beat Crookson 48-7 last year. Their only losses were to Duluth and Winona.

I stand corrected. It still does not justify scheduling them. Man NDSU must have paid those boys a ton of bucks to play them.

  17. I usually wouldn't reply to a UND hockey forum but since it veered off to something of a NDSU hater post. Yes, I didn't agree with the article in the Spectrum. But why should you guys care what the Spectrum publishes. I don't care what the UND paper publishes. IT IS JUST A STUDENT NEWSPAPER. There is envy which goes both ways. NDSU is envious of the Division I publicity UND gets with hockey. UND is envious of the publicity the NDSU football and success the team has had in the past. UND must have been envious of the NDSU's FargoDome. Otherwise, no new stadium would have been built there. Lets face the facts. There is envy which goes both ways. This is rivalry. Envy goes with a rivalry. Whenever one school does something that is better then the other, the other is going to be envious of them. Sure, we are going to post things that go bad for the other school but if you look at the bisonville or bisoninsider site, you will see very little useless knowledge posted like this post has turned into.

Nice, very nice. There is and always will be envy on the part of NDSU to be like UND. This should add more fule to the fire. I see your D-1 football team scheduled a D-III powerhouse in Concordia of St. Paul. Perfect.

  18. He is obviously a disgruntled kid from the Minneapolis area who thought he might make the su footbal team and instead wound up flunking English (as evident by the way the article was written) and striking out on every fat chick on the NDSU campus. And believe me there is a ton of them! This kid has no knowledge of college hockey. Hey maybe he should ask Irv Innegar! :D
