  1. I thought Porter also got him with his hip.

Bina was called for elbowing. I suppose without the elbow it may or may not have been called. The big difference is that the guy fell parallel to the boards. He wasn't close to head on. So it was no way close to a major penalty.

Speaking of Penalties and the Wisconsin announcers, when Brian Lee took that elbow to negate a power play (I believe) the Wisconsin (color guy I think) said he didn't see any elbow.

  2. A guy in the stands (Badger fan) noticed I was wearing my Sioux Hockey sweatshirt last night at the game. He was pretty decent and asked me who "that really big guy for UND" was. I told him it was Finley and we talked about how big he was, etc. Not two minutes later Big Joe knocks the home town boy Skille out of the game. The guy looks at me and says, "Boy, you weren't kidding, huh?"

Tough to see ANYBODY get hurt.... Joe's a big boy though.

I think that Skille's accident was a freak accident that could have happened with any player hitting him like that. Somehow his arm got caught and that twisted it or something.

I'm hoping Skille isn't hurt too bad and he gets back out on the ice first thing Monday.

  3. From the Western College Hockey Blog:

Woog picked SCSU to sweep and they nearly did. I'm picking SCSU over DU in the WCHA, so this game will hurt my prediction. Would like to have seen Duluth handle UML as I think Duluth will be a much better team this year than last. Nice win for Tech.

My favorite, however, comes from this Strib story:

So the gopher player plows into the opposing goalie, and the D makes Carmen pay for doing that. Flynn retaliates and Lucia approves. This from the man who complained that "every time there's a fight North Dakota is involved". I guess it's ok when your guy is on the winning side, but when your guy gets his attitude handed to him, then it's wrong.

Lucia's such a chickenpoop bastage. He'd be the first one crying if it happens to him.

  4. Im taking it this comment was for me lol. I love the fact that I make an opinion and you come back and make some professional remarks, awesome. Im from Grand Forks, I have played hockey for like 25 years just for your info. Im not saying you have to agree with me, but hey, they are a young team and by mid season will be probably be the strongest team out there. I just thought what I thought and said what I said. Relax man! No more Jack D for you!

I joined this board (as opposed to USCHO) as it's a friendly fan-based board. I would recommend that if someone says something you don't agree with that you politely point that out.

The person that posts the snarky comment looks like the dummy.

  5. Dang it! I missed the GWG while I was posting on here! :silly:

That does it, I am getting a TV set up in the same room as my computer so I can do both. I did see the replay, though, nice effort by the younger Zajac.

Time to go for the sweep tomorrow night!!!

    GO SIOUX!!!

    Laptop and wireless network.

  6. Fun to watch our 4th line - Genoway is really impressive. They got caught in their end on a long shift but other than that, I thought they looked good.

Genoway's an exciting player as a forward.

Oshies Penalty. He was skating side by side with Skille who had the puck. He took his right hand off his stick and used his elbow for leverage. Skille went down.

I don't know that I've seen that called before.

  7. So far Bishop's been my favorite Freshman. That's because I like his style of play.

Right now it's got to be a hard job to decide who to play.

Think of last weekend. Hak didn't play Bishop Friday even though he scored a goal in the exhibition game. (Tough decision). Then in order to give Bishop his shot he sat out Ryan Miller Saturday even though he had a great game Friday.

I'm sure that's not how Hak would like to do things. I"m certainly not saying Hak was wrong, just that he's had tough choices to make. (Which is a good thing for the team).
