  1. UND's non-starters scored just one point tonight. To put it another way, all but one point was scored by players in either their fourth or fifth year in the program.
  2. I'm aware that he apparently committed about a week ago, but it seems odd that he didn't mention the commitment in an article posted yesterday by one of his hometown newspapers. That's why I question how solid the commitment is. When all is said and done, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at Northern Iowa (where his brother plays).
  3. I'm not sure how solid of a commitment Turner is, as the following link from the Pioneer Press indicates NDSU may be the favorite but doesn't mention any commitment: http://www.twincities.com/ci_13776525?source=most_emailed I would expect UND to sign a number of offensive linemen as per usual--at least four.
  4. With the news (at least to me) that Evers is actually getting a scholarship, I don't see that we have another one left for next year if everybody returns. I was under the impression that only Haring is a walk-on, and there are currently 11 other underclassmen, plus the four who signed yesterday. Or is that not correct?
  5. Warmack signed with Bemidji State: link
  6. Have you heard anything about whether Burck is still committed to UND?
  7. So apparently Evers is getting a scholarship?
  8. Just listened to the coaches' show, and according to Mussman three "major contributors" haven't practiced this week, and won't travel if they can't practice tomorrow.
  9. We're the lowest-ranked Great West team, and also ranked lower than former NCC football schools Central Washington, UMD, Mankato and UNO. We're also not far ahead of Bemidji State.
  10. I suppose the big difference between then and now was that Lennon could act as something of a safety net, stepping in if things started to spiral.
  11. Does anybody know who was actually calling the defense during the first two years of the co-coordinator situation when Lennon was still here?
  12. Here's what I don't quite understand--we have two defensive coordinators, and one of them also happens to have the title of assistant head coach (MM). So wouldn't it stand to reason that as between the co-coordinators, the one with the assistant head coach title should have more authority? It seems like the opposite has happened here, which seems even stranger considering the fact that the assistant head coach before MM got the title was Mussman himself.
  13. I don't think I was complaining--I was making a factual statement. And I do give money. My comments may not always be 100% positive, but you'd be hard-pressed to find many fans/alums who care more about UND football than I do.
  14. I agree about Archer and Allard. The kid I'd like to see them run some plays for is Haugen, as he's supposed to be a very good 3-point shooter.
  15. I've got a lot of opinions on this topic, but I kind of want to wait until after the season to share most of them since the last two games should tell us a lot about the state of the defense. All I'll say at this point is that we're giving up 29.2 ppg, and 408 ypg, and if the numbers don't dramatically improve against UC-Davis and Central Arkansas, it will be the fourth consecutive year where the defensive numbers were worse than the season before.
  16. It was disappointing that Wilmer wasn't in uniform, as he was one of the freshman I was most interested in seeing. Not sure what his injury status is. I thought Clausen looked pretty good. He knocked down some 3's, and wasn't afraid to take big shots. He also took a big charge late. None of the freshmen really did much offensively. It's hard to say which of them may develop into scorers in time. It was clear that the offense has a long way to go before the players are comfortable running it. It never seemed like anybody got a good shot as a direct result of running the offense. Probably the most disappointing aspect of yesterday's game was that Bemidji seemed able to get an open look, particularly from 3-point range, nearly every possession of the second half against our zone. Their offfense moved the ball much better than ours did.
  17. Pretty sure they're still red-shirting. The women's red-shirts played a few minutes in their first exhibition game, too.
  18. Just a reminder--there is an exhibition game today at 3 o'clock against Bemidji. Looking forward to seeing what the freshmen and Clausen can do.
  19. I would recommend sending an e-mail to Brian Faison. Not only is he obviously UND's a.d., but he's also on the Alerus Center commission.
  20. Normally I'd agree, but I can't help but wonder if Brian Kelly's success may cause a school to want to get Lennon before a bigger/better program does, assuming SIU makes a deep run into the playoffs? While he doesn't have a long history with SIU, he does have a fairly long history of success as a head coach.
  21. If SIU wins a couple of playoff games, I wonder if Lennon will get a shot at an FBS job? Maturi should fire that clown Brewster and hire Lennon.
  22. It would be nice, but I can't really fault Lennon for going all-in to make one last run at a dII national championship, which was presumably a big part of the decision not to red-shirt Ankenbauer, Saporu and Murray in 2007.
  23. While I understand the issue with Cameron as a punter, you would think that his leg strength would warrant him kicking off rather than Hellevang.
  24. Agreed--I was mostly referring to his field goal kicking this year, which has been quite good.
