My favorite thing about going to Sioux hockey games is watching the best college hockey team play in the best hockey arena. No other fans have it as good as we do. We are very lucky. God bless the Fighting Sioux!

I would like to set the record straight. I hate the Gophers. BUT they are the funnest team to cheer against. I mean that in the best possible way. I hate their fans and I hate their players. BUT there is no other team I would rather play against. I never said the Gophers were a bad team. Because they aren't by any means. Just some of the stuff their fans cheer and the way they look in their UGLY jerseys ticks me off so I make fun of them. I would love to see the Sioux and the Gophers face off in the second round of the NCAA tournament. That would be just crazy.

I thank you for the comparison to a Packer fan who are some of the most diehard fans in all of sports. God forbid you compare me to the fans of the "great" vikings. I can't believe you think I am jealous of the Gophers having a better season. I would take a year like Alaska-Anchorage had and be a Sioux fan than be undefeated and a Gopher fan. May I take you back to the years of the great coach Doug Woog. If I can recall your great Gophers won ZERO NCAA championships and the Sioux won 2. We almost snuck a third one in there but apparently 21 years of not winning a national championship was enough and you needed another change. I returned home from the Final Five and after watching the Gophers win the WCHA tournament I just wanted to express my feelings towards the Gophers and their fans. I HATE THEM BOTH!!! I have no other hate for any sports team like I do for the Gophers. They are such idiots. The Fans They do the same exact cheers at every game it's as if they are zombies. "That's Debatable", "We always were", and "Thank you (After the announcer says there is 1 minute remaining in the period)" are the stupidest cheers in the world especially when you do them every time you can. The fans are the most arrogant in all of sports. I could talk forever about their unbelieveably stupid "M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A, Sota Sota" cheer. They do it after every goal and at the end of every stinking period. The Team They are a bunch of GOONS!!! I can garuantee you that if they didn't have last years Frozen Four tournament in the Twin Cities they would be going on 24 years without a NCAA title instead of winning last years. I could also garuantee if they had this year's WCHA tournament anywhere but the Twin Cities area the Gophers don't win it. Instead they give the Gophers home ice advantage throughout the tournament and there are twice as many Gopher fans as there are fans from the other schools combined. Also, the extremely ugly jerseys they have. As if having the colors maroon and gold isn't bad enough they have about 8 alternate jerseys which are the ugliest in all of college hockey (Yes, even worse than Brown University). The Gophers run the WCHA. They have the tournament in the Twin Cities every year and they influence the All-WCHA team. How does Parise get on the 3rd team All-WCHA and Vanek on the 2nd team, but Parise is a Hobey Baker candidate and Vanek is not. Because there wasn't any Gopher fans holding a gun to the Hobey Baker committee's head. I would love for any Gopher fans that belong to this forum to write in and try and prove me wrong.

I can't believe people are really talking about this on a sioux forum. Let's talk hockey folks. If you want to put someone down for their grammar go to an educational forum. Just let it go!!!

Thank you Siouxrock. If they didn't score saturday nite to put it into overtime there wouldn't have been a Sunday. The Sioux dominated the Sunday night OT so much they would have gotten a goal eventually.

The Good Old Hockey Game!!! Oh man that song is great.

If it wasn't even on the poll!!! Bochenski's goal to tie the game in the 3rd period when Brandt was pulledon Saturday night. If not for that goal there wouldn't have been the OT redirection goal by Bochenski or the rocket by Fuher the next night. I'm not saying the redirection goal by Bochenski or the missile by Fuher weren't huge goals. They wouldn't have happened if Bochenski didn't make the goal in the 3rd on Saturday.

No disrespect to 01grad but it's not about being biased or optimistic or even favoring the Sioux because we cheer for them. It's about voting for them to finish in 1st place because know that they can win 1st place, because we know they are capable of it. Everyone that's a "TRUE" Sioux fan should be choosing 1st place because we know what "the boys" are the best in the country. We've even have a goalie that can keep us in games. Hey, is it to late for Brandt to make a run at the Hobey Baker? Hahaha!!!

It's in their hands!!! Obviously the Sioux have been horrible these last few weeks. I believe if Blais can figure it out that he can only play RANFRANZ (maybe Brandt) if he wants the Sioux to go anywhere in the postseason the Sioux will make a huge run in the playoffs. The Sunday night game against UMD was an unbelieveable game. The Ralph was rockin' after the second goal, by Bochenski. I know that the three seniors will use that moment and fire up for the Wisconsin series. I just am not sure about the goalies. Hopefully the rest of the team gave the goalies an earful after the heartbreaker on Sunday. You know the seniors don't want Sunday's game to be the last one they ever play in the Ralph. Siembida needs to be thrown out into the back alley and have someone beat some sense into him. How could anyone let the third goal in. Heck, I could have made that save. After Bochenski's huge goal, which could have been the turning point to their slump, Siembida makes the biggest bonehead play since Bill Buckner by coming a mile outside of the crease. I agree that it wasn't totally Siembida's fault, because Jones fell, but that is what you have a goalie for, to stop the puck when there is no defense.

This is really pathetic!!! The Sioux are taking the best start by any Sioux team ever and throwing in the dumpster. They are playing with no heart. It's really sad to see them play this poorly when at this time of the year they should be beating mediocre teams (such as Denver and Michigan Tech) badly.

The only way I would pay $300 for a game worn jersey would be if it had gopher blood on it from when the Sioux beat the gophers or if it were Parise's.

I go to high school with Nick and I have to say if we didn't have Nick on the hockey team we would be in the hurt bag. I must say it would be awesome if Nick went to UND. Heck there is no way he could be worse than Siembida.

The people at REA planned the handing out of the "Thank you Ralph" shirts poorly. I have never been to a game where the promotional item was handed out at tables. Every professional game I have been to they hand you the promo when you show them your ticket. Also, the tables were filled with selfish people pushing you in and out of the chaos. I have enough people pushing me this time of year at the malls. I don't need it at a hockey game too. They should've said the first 4,000 people to survive the gaunlet get a t-shirt. I do appreciate the t-shirts though. They were very nice quality and a great way for everyone to remember Ralph Engelstad.

I'll tell you why the old Ralph is louder than the new Ralph. Even though the new Ralph has about twice as many of the best hockey fans in the nation, the old Ralph is louder because it was a hostile environment. No team in the WCHA ever wanted to play in the old Ralph. The fans were crazy and the players played 150% every game because if they didn't they would hear it from the fans (not that the players don't play hard now, but you win championships by so hard that you can't feel your legs on Sunday morning. WCHA teams now come to the new Ralph and think it is a cool arena, and are amazed that the Sioux get to play here. So the other teams play like they want to come to Grand Forks and knock the Sioux off in this amazing arena. I believe after the Sioux start beating teams by 10 and 11 goals, and also win a National Championship title (which couldn't be to far off) in the new Ralph teams will start shaking when their coach hands them the schedule and it says they have to play at "THE RALPH".

I hate Minnesota!!! I think it's because there fans sing that stupid song. "Sota Sota yeeeeaaaah Sota." I wanted to deck every fan of theirs in the building. Also because their players are the dirtiest players in college hockey. They recruit GOONS to play on their team.

What is the deal with these dumb refs? I have never seen such horrible refing. After the Sioux's series against Mankato I had to write this. First off, they try to even up the game when one team is ahead by a goal or two which isn't a ref's job. A ref's job is to call the infractions of the game, not to make it exciting a close nail-biter. Secondly, I have never seen such morons skating around. The first game of the Sioux vs. Mavericks, Mason (the head ref) called a goal on a puck that without a doubt hit the top pipe. It didn't enter into anyone's mind at the game that it would be a goal, but Mason in all of his stupidity called it a goal. This was only one of hundreds of bonehead calls by Mason last weekend. Maybe it's just because we are the Fighting Sioux and nobody likes us. Maybe it's because these the refs are just that stupid. Maybe it's just me. I feel something has to be done with these unbelieveable refs.
