  1. BULLSH*T! So please tell us what YOUR real interest is LB since you choose you base the majority of your average of your 28 posts A YEAR on this board against the Alerus??? What's the REAL beef or do other issues of living in RiverCity just not interest you? From everything I know - the Canad is VERY HAPPY with their situation...prove anything different! ANYONE can go on a message board and say whatever they want. I know what I see at the Canad - full parking lots...busy restaurants....EXPANDING marketing opportunities with UND football on saturdays...things are going just fine - YOU PROVE different! With real facts...not just what you "think" because you're flat-out wrong about most of this.

I'm going to have to disagree on a small point here....the parking lots are not full..I live across the street and it's not that busy at this time of year. However...wait another month and the small hang out bars will be fuller and when hockey gets going it'll be in motion. The Canad has an emotional feeling around here...some against and some for...I'm neutral. My only beef is the kept bringing it back to the voters until it was approved. If we voted against it...then so be it...move on. But for me personally I like the Canad and the small bars in their. Very sociable place. Now...lets have them do something about the cost of using the slide and pool if your a resident!!

  2. Got my renewal for season tickets today. going to renew as always

only changes increase the doantion 10 percent and the ticket prices 10 percent

all other sports are staying the same.

Seriously? They're increasing the ticket prices and donation?

Did I show you my bracket by chance?? To Funnny but the only different GAME we have is I have Wisco over NM

  4. This could play out to be a total trainwreck. The story I heard (back in mid Jan.) was that Norman was excused permanently from the Fargo Norman's Prime, an establishment that bares his own name. Now, Suite 49 is applying for a transfer of their license to Norman, under the name Norman's Prime, but it's not the Fargo operators? There is definitely more to the story there.

On another note, I just don't see the Grand Forks market supporting a prime steakhouse. A la carte menu with steaks in the $25-$50 range with sides in the $8 range. I just don't see it. The prime steak concept was the hottest restaurant concept 5-10 years ago. They seem to thrive the best in markets and locations where customers are entertaining clients and prospects and paying with an expense account.

The main question is...who is the investor? We've all learned to never underestimate the power of ego and wealthy investors in the restaurant biz.

    Story to be continued....

Yes...interesting...we'll see how this plays out in a year. It's a dual problem....Steakhouse isn't good for location but can afford the overhead.....college sports bar is best option in regards to location but can't afford overhead. I'm betting the Brown's are involved. It's his money that's churning while the place sits empty so it's also in his best interests to help support the new owner regardless. I'm also guessing there's a contract where Norman can purchase his interest if it holds up and is successful. The location is best suited for a sports bar in my opinion.

  5. How are ticket sales going for people on here? How much have you sold your tickets for? For those who have purchased them, how much have you spent per ticket?

(I have season tickets, so didn't need them.)

I'm curious as well. And I also have season tickets....for the record the liked the previous post who called another "numbnuts" : ) Haven't heard that in while.

  6. When have I said "fire them!"

I want them to do their job and set (and enforce) policy for the system.

And it's their system to set policy over ... budgets, personnel, monikers, whatever.

Sic...you need to give up on this one. Mpls is out to muddy the waters pure and simple. The nickname and NDSU are two different matters and he's trying to weave them together. All he does is create drama!!

  7. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/153241

Anyone know the story on the goalie from Warroad quitting NOW? Don't think I've ever heard of something like this.

I was wondering the same thing when I read the paper this morning. Very weird! I went to the game last night and it was good. Great to see the Civic packed with hockey fans. TRF didn't look to good though...looked like a step behind all night. Brock was good though as was Zane with TRF in a loss.

  8. Here is a player to watch from a younger Shattuck team.

    Taylor Cammarata F 9 5/13/1995 5'8" 150 Plymouth, MN 58 92 78 170 8

92 goals and 170 points in 58 games for the 9th grader. The next closest player on the team has about 100 points.

I've heard that out Shattuck connection isn't what it once was. Not sure of the reasons but it's not as fluid as it was with Blais.

  9. was told a couple of days ago students in Grand Forks are not allowed to switch schools for sports......

    RUMOR OR TRUTH???

They can switch but I believe it depends on things. Johnson who plays for Central is in RR district. That's why he was at RR last year as an 8th grader. You have to go to your district school if you are not in HS yet but once in HS you can switch. I belive in any sport. What about Simonson...he's also in RR district.

  10. I would like to know as well, I haven't been able to find Greg Shepherds.

I just don't understadn how this crap can happen. It's utter BS and makes the WCHA look like fools. WHY would a kid go the college route and not Canadian Juniors when this stuff happens. Along with Denver and their annual favoritism makes it look like WCHA has the favorites and the non-favorites....and we're in the non group for sure. This makes it look like their getting paid off for their decisions likes refs in BB!!

  11. You have to be kidding me right? Good god if what the City of Grand Forks and UND did to get the Alerus center built only to get caught later isn't stealing from the taxpayer please tell me what is? Not to mention the continual yearly siphoning of tax payer dollars to fund that travesty is a joke. Don't tell me it's not UND"s building either it was built with the express purpose of getting UND football indoors and trying to keep up with NDSU and the Fargodome. You know the old saying about people in glass houses, you should go back and check it out and live by that creed.

Well...we can't argue with this logic!!!!! I'm all GF and always have been compared to Fargo but this is one subject we can't touch. The AL is a worse money pit than the NDSU house.

  12. I am, but not the NE Pats. The school I teach at are the Patriots. Sorry.

I still like your signia....means Go Pats!! Are you in MA? Wondering because we're doing a project out there and last year was the first time in that area. Lots to like about it. Even took my son with me on one trip and drove to the new Yankee stadium vs. the Bo Sox. Fun time!

  13. I sense a lot of tension on about every thread tonight...........hmmm.

Hey Sodbuster....are you a Pats fan? Do you live in Boston or just like the Pats? I'm a Pats fan myself along with the Red Sox but sorry Goon not the Bruins.

  14. I sense a lot of tension on about every thread tonight...........hmmm.

Your post put a light mood to it though. Wonder if it wasn't having our butts handed to us this weekend and dropping to 15th in PWR OR realizing we may not have home ice for the playoffs. : (

  15. Justin Moody is a really good golfer as well for Central.

Yes, he is along with O'keefe and Kennedy who might play varsity hockey in a year or two. As for my previous post it doesn't seem to many kids from GF move on to the next level. We may have Lammy and a Bina here or there but it would be nice to see more boys play at a higher level. That was my thought with the Useldinger comment.

  16. I know for Central there are a number of kids that might get looks, Casey Purpur, Justin Moody, Luke Johnson, Seth Lang, Paul LaDue, Danny Ray etc. I am sure I missed a few but these were the ones that I could remember off the top of my head.

Ray had an offer to play USHL in Omaha (I think it was Omaha) but chose to come back to win it all and get this....golf. The kid in an awesome golfer for Central and that could actually be his ticket to higher things. He'll be top 10 this year in state.

  17. maybe you don't follow ndhs hockey, or maybe you have been instilled with the east side superiority to go along with your ignorance, or maybe you just spew what pops into that head of yours... reguardless, there are many falcities in your elequently stated post. first, as to the gf or other nd kids not doing anything after hs... have you been to a sioux game this season? arguably our best and most consistent player all season hails from grand forks, and robbie bina is now playing in a european pro league after a wonderful college career. i could go on, but wont, you have the internet, you could check on it if so inclined. north dakota hs hockey is not mn hs hockey, never has been and never will be, but don't bang on the entire league (other than gf of course) because your most formidable skill is posting incorrect statements on message boards. and a quick fyi... im not sure how many times any gf team has played williston (other than the state tourney) in the past decade, but its not many if any at all. oh, and williston is in first in the west, with the states leading scorer (and most likely the best player, and most likely to succeed at the college level), and 3 in the top 11... more than red river or central. also i believe williston has made state the past 5 years or so, so im sure you could have chosen a patsy from the east to rag on, or is that not kosher? so i anxiously await your well though out response to this :D if you are going to spit out idiotic statements, you should do some fact checking first. end rant.

Did your teacher just let you out of class after detention? You are imature and as an fyi...I have friends with kids on all 3 hs teams around here and Williston was an example. Now...go back and finish your homework. If I recall were you the one spewing after Grafton won state?

  18. Thanks for the heads up. I imagine he's one of those "okay-we're-watching-you-now-impress-us" type of prospects. In other words, he'll have to prove himself in juniors before he gets an offer.

Speaking of types of prospects, I imagine you could file them into a handful of categories...

    - Scholarship offer extended

    - Walk-on offer extended

    - Official visit (often comes AFTER commitment)

    - Unofficial visit with invite

    - Direct contact (if old enough)

    - Indirect contact (if not old enough)

    - Unofficial visit without invite

    - Watching (Useldinger, second largest group of prospects)

    - Mailing (cheap way to make kids think you're watching them, crazed hockey parents believe this is equivelant to being "recruited")

I'm not sure where he'll fall into. His issue will be weight. He's lanky but needs to eat allot of meat then lift weight's to put that into muscle. I like the fact that a local boy is getting at least a look. I don't understand how the local GF (EGF) kids don't do much after hs? Maybe it's the games or playing against Williston and other non hockey teams. However, I've noticed that GF is now doing more MN tournaments. I hope SCSU or Mankota get him and he actually plays.
