The inaugural AJHL Showcase started today, our only recruit participating is Brad Eidsness but I would imagine the coaches would have an eye on a few players. No idea, I was just informed that the recruit they brought in was Canadian. As usual, I'm not to familar with the Canadian junior kids we recruit, that kid just happened to be mentioned in an article on the BCHL's website.

I was informed that the kid that was here was a Canadian recruit. If I were to bet, it would be a d-man since I could see adding another one for next year.

I certainly don't believe every rumor I hear, but many people on the high school board have close connections with the players programs and families, so many times the rumors are correct.

There is a rumor on the high school board that Ryan Walters has committed to Minnesota. We will see how that plays out.

Forney is pretty much starting out as a freshmen because he battled through an injury last year. He didn't get time in the weight room, which means that he is still pretty thin. I was impressed with Marto's play tonight. This team isn't not going to be like last years team in the sense that there are multiple guys to go to every night. Last year's team I felt was a one line team for the most part. This team is going to have a good amount of guys that will step up everynight.

For the game on Sunday, as of right now, Oshie will center the top line with Duncan and Frattin at the wings. The third spot came down to Frattin and Miller, and it looks like they're going with Frattin. I would assume if that doesn't work out Miller would be the guy to slot in. What will be interesting is the other three line combos.

Recently, poor recruiting and youth. They had some players come in the fall of 05 that have not panned out the way they had hoped (Gergen, Greer, Meyers). I think they were also looking at Niskanen and Raymond staying three years.

I was recently informed that there will be some recruiting done in some non-traditional hockey areas (aka outside of western canada and minnesota) for 2009 and 2010. This is probably due to the lack of depth in these areas (specifically Minnesota) for some of these years. There are some kids out west that I believe are being looked at. This isn't to say that they will commit here or that it will comprise a chunk of the team, but there will be some scouting/recruiting done in those areas.

From what I understand Frattin has been practicing on the top line. I hear he fits the mold of that line the best.

I forgot to mention, if anyone is the USHL Fall Classic this weekend there are some pretty good uncommitted players participating. I would say the biggest one to note is Ryan Walters from St. Thomas Academy. He is playing a split season with Des Moines.

Well, we bring in three Shattuck kids in 08 (Toews, Bruneteau, Blood). We hardly recruited Jordy Murray for some reasons that I won't say. Montpetit and Stephan wanted to play at Wisconsin in the first place.

Oops, forgot to add Fink. He will also be participating this weekend in the Fall Classic.

Many of our current recruits will be participating in the USHL Fall Classic, which starts on Thursday and runs through Saturday. At least one of our coaches usually attends the tournament.
