  1. OK, the United States. I do not think it is wrong to say "we". What is your point? You are only a NDSU grad, I will try to explain thing easier for you next time.

Please do. I'm not aware of any company called "United States". Are they in manufacturing, service industry, apparel and textiles, perhaps? I'd really be interested in how your little scenario would play out.

  2. It is OK if I am wrong, but my point remains. What ever they buy from us we need to start jacking up the price on to a ridiculous amount and then squeeze them to make a deal. I think it is at least worth trying.

Who is "we". Unless I missed something and the U.S. economy has been nationalized, I'm not sure what you're suggesting.

  3. The value of the dollar has ______ against other currencies in recent days.

Thus, the number of dollars it takes to buy an ounce of gold, or a barrel of oil, has shot rapidly _____.

Want to run on gas? Build the refineries. We have the oil in Alaska.

Want to run electric cars instead? Wyoming has more uranium than Saudi Arabia has oil.

But you can't build a refinery or a nuclear plant.

But oh will people whine when their car has to be parked or the lights don't come on.

    What do I win?

  4. Haha that's funny... an NDSU grad WOULD know about stuff like that, good work! :D

(Kinda poking fun at NDSU for being a farming school, but also quite impressed that you do know that information, so don't take this post too seriously)

No worries. There's very few things I take seriously on an internet message board.

  5. They want to charge us so much for a barrell of oil, then the US should sell our wheat and other goods at the same price per bushel. I guarantee if we would start selling wheat at $124/bushel to the mid-east and told them that they will continue to pay those prices unless they lower the price of a barrell of oil. I think they would lower it really fast.

Just my opinion and I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

You're wrong. The Saudis (and other importers) buy wheat and other grains primarily from Canada and Australia. Even if you could set the price like you suggest (I suppose you could, just impose ridiculously high export tariffs) they would simply buy from other countries. See how the Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act worked out and get back to me.

  6. The Yotes release their 2008 Schedule and a list of opponents for 2009.

    GO UND

DangerDome? That's a bit too much, don't ya think?

  7. Thanks for the info! How come UND guys are participating in Fargo this year? ;) UND has always had a pro day as well.

I thought I remember UND guys at the Bison pro day last year as well. Don't know why UND doesn't have their own. Maybe pro scouts suggested the two universities get together to have one.

  8. If Mertens was a 4, we would definitely offer him, but since he's a 3 he would see very little playing time. We've got Winkleman, Tvedt, Coleman, and Carlson who can all play that position, and Mertens would most likely be behind all of them. I think Travis would make a nice dII player though.

  9. Did Mike Mcatee (sp) from Rolla sign anywhere? He had been rumored to be an NDSU commit a while back but that was unsubstantiated and I'm pretty confident we never offered him. But I would think he would be a good enough prospect to go DII or walk on at UND or NDSU.

  10. With Youmans and Little leaving after this season, it will be a major challenge for Jones to field a competitive team next year. We will likely need non-DI qualified JC transfers (another Beasley or two :silly: ) to sign before the end of the exploratory year: they'd get grandfathered in from DII.

You guys will have a tough time being worse than the 04-05 Bison. After that season I was convinced Miles was a coaching genius. I can't believe we won a game. The good news for you guys is there's no more 5-8 rule and you should have about 6-8 scholarships available, so you could potentially have a solid freshmen class plus a couple jucos to help immediately. Good luck.

  11. I have to defend NDSU grad on this one. According to the post by "Marlins" earlier in this thread, Cavil had offers from UND, USD and UMD. He definitely knows Wisconsin recruiting, as he talks to pretty much all these kids. In terms of head-to-head "wins" in the recruiting game so far this year, Wisthoff for sure was offered by NDSU. I don't know one way or the other about the rest of the UND commits. I know there was considerable NDSU interest in Nichols and McGurran, but whether offers were actually made I can't say.

Thanks. I was obviously referring to Marlin's post.

  12. Shawn-O, haven't you learned by now? If there is a chance that UND and NDSU are going after the same kid, as was the case with Cavil, and he picks UND, the bison playbook calls for their fans to whine with any of the following:

    1. We didn't actually offer him a scholarship.

Of course, NDSU didn't offer him a scholarship, but don't let facts get in the way of a good smackfest.

  13. I will be the first to admit that I'm not a great NDSU football mind.

Judging by MplsBison's list, apparently I'm not either.

What may be most interesting about this thread is the way the two staffs grade rb's. Chappell (sp.) was not offerred by SU and has turned out great for you guys; Solum was not offerred by us but looks to a good player for you as well. Now Horner was apparently not offered by UND, but was high on NDSU's list. I guess you just have to recruit who you think best fits your system.

  14. Let's see. Last year NDSU didn't recruit Solum for runningback and this year they recruited Horner for runningback. Since Horner couldn't beat out Solum for runningback at Fargo South a year ago and the fact that they now need Horner for runningback at NDSU probably says more about the depth or quality of NDSU at that position now. He would have a lot better chance at making the field at NDSU then he would have had at UND with our runningback situation the way it is. It was a real long shot even if we had offered Horner that he would of come here anyway. Getting a kid from a Fargo South team coached by Feeney is slim.

Without knowing the details of the rb situation at UND, I would have to say he would have a much better chance at seeing the field earlier there than at NDSU. Horner will more than likely be 5th on the depth chart coming out of his redshirt freshman year, behind Paschall, Blincoe, McNorton, and Voigtlander.

  15. McNorton does have very good credentials. However, it seems as though NDSU has recruited a number of Texans the past few years, but most haven't seemed to pan out for whatever reason. It would seem that the odds of actually retaining a kid from Texas or Florida or California or wherever, with no previous connection to North Dakota and our climate, probably isn't the best.

I don't think attrition from the state of Texas has been any more pronounced than from any other state. The only one I can think of is Champ.

  16. I doubt that this transition will have any effect on their respective eligibility.

I don't remember the details, but NDSU OL Justin Monson lost a year of eligibility because of the transition, and SDSU had an OL that lost a year and ended up transferring to play for you guys; can't remember his name. Like I said, I don't know the details of those two cases but I would actually be surprised if Trenbreath did not lose his last year.

  17. Do you think Central Michigan just had a really bad day against NDSU, or was the MAC just that bad this year? It seems hard to believe that SDSU and Cal Poly may have been better than anyone in the MAC.

I think it's a combination of a few things. NDSU played really well that day, and I can only presume that CMU did not play well. Also, the Bison were 100% completely healthy, which was not the case at the end of the season. I know that sounds like an excuse and every football team is usually going thru the injury bug at the end of the season, but it seemed like the Bison avoided that in 06. Also, NDSU has seemingly struggled the two times we've played in SLO, and I don't think we've beaten the Jacks in Brooking this millenium (funny, huh).
