In my opinion I think Honkers would be a cool nick name, I believe there is a High School team out that uses that name, if I am not mistaken it's Kenmare.... Maybe Sprig can tell us for sure.
It is Kenmare. Years ago, when Hampden (near Starkweather, ND) had a school, they were also the Honkers.

I totally missed this! Hope you are feeling better...the game is in a few days!
Cowboy up woman and get out on the ice and bang some bodies around.

Don't want to get this buried in the threads. This is a family that really could use extra support, as they have a long road, not to mention a ton of medical bills ahead of them.

OMG!
in Men's Hockey
My daughter found this program (she is a Food Network junkie). We watched it, and Matt seemed to like every cupcake he tried. He must have been hungry, really, a sushi cupcake?? I thought he looked like he drew the shortest straw on the team and was the one that had to go tape the show. I'm sure he was thinking..."just give me a damn chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting!!"

Ouch, that's a horrible idea.
The place is going to sound like the UAA arena.
Except the UAA arena only had 54 fans to ring the cowbells.

Yes. Attention North Dakotans: Stay out of Council Bluffs (unless gambling).
Isn't that where the Bass Pro Shop store is located? Good luck keeping Mr. Siouxmama away from there.

Heads up, the Magnolia Hotel is listed on BedBugRegistry.com. The only report was back in the fall of 2009. The problem has more than likely been fixed by now, but it wouldn't hurt to call to make sure.

Good news here.
The Magnolia Hotel was contacted, and the incident that happened in 2009 involved a traveler from overseas. They figured he had brought the "bug" that he claimed to have seen. A search was done of his room, and all surrounding rooms, with nothing found. Now, they bring in a bedbug sniffing dog (yes, there is such a thing) quarterly, and nothing has ever been found.
They have also remodeled, and assure us this will be a pleasant stay.

My opinion is, the student section stays involved in the game with song and dance, but just look at them. They appear to be a bunch of zombies, just going thru the motions. They dont have a clue.

Oh crap. I may have to stay with my cousin that lives in Omaha!

Does anyone know what hotel Al's bus is staying at?
Magnolia Hotel

Its based on enrollment.....sort of. It has to do with the number of boys in grades 7-12, not total enrollment.
OK, thanks. So Devils Lake, going from AA to AAA, means that there have been more boys enrolled now? Or, because they have had success at AA, to now it's time to move them up to AAA. Not understanding why Shanley doesn't move up too.
-
So we are headed down to Omaha, who else is going? I'll say Sioux take 3 points.
Mr. Siouxmama and I will be there. Hopping on Al's bus. Always a good time on there!
-
Don't they rank the top 16 by enrollment and force them into AAA? Maybe I'm wrong.
Is that how they determine what class they play in? By enrollment?
I suppose that the NDSHSA (if thats what it's called) has a web site that has enrollment numbers? I'm gonna have to check that out!

Well here we are back to STATE CHAMPIONSHIP game day for Calss AA.
Devils Lake vs Fargo Shanley up at 5:00
This is Devils Lakes last year in Class AA, and next near will be back to AAA, to play against the GF, Bismarck and larger Fargo schools.
My opinion is, they are too small of a school to playy AAA. Any other opinions?

The latest information I've heard is that it is only available on local cable in Wisconsin. That means it isn't available on any satellite system.
DAMN!!
Thanks for the info though.

-
I think you should start with calling the box office. Be prepared to cough up some cash...

Thank you,everyone.--Siouxmama,I meant to ask you how the family with Alzheimers in Thompson is doing. Hope their situation is under control.
Nothing has changed much with him. He is still working and going about everyday business. He has a couple of brothers that are having a much tougher time though. It's hard to see them deteriorate at such a young age.
Thanks for asking JFR.
-
Was glad I was able to meet you JFR. It seems that you enjoyed your trip, and I hope that you can make it again sometime.

That isn't a broad statement? Have you watch NHL hockey? I am not trying to start a fight with you but the officiating in the WCHA isn't even up to par the worst effort one could see in the NHL. I bet the house league in Canada has better officials than the WCHA. Maybe one of our Canadian friends can tell us other wise. You have alumni of a member school officiating that team's games. The WCHA is the perfect example of nepotism and cronyism. There is no transparency what so ever. The officials don't even put their name on the back of their shirts, that is piss poor.
Why do the womens refs have names on the back of their shirts? Aren't these all WCHA refs?
