  1. I don't think there is going to be a big ground swell to run Hakstol out of town on a rail.

It's all about deserve.....I just don't want to wallow in mediocrity. Hakstol could take us to 10 straight frozen fours but if he can't win a title........

  2. I don't see a 17-22-0 or a 15-19-9 season anytime soon, which is why Woog was fired, 10 years after his 4 straight F4 run.

The only reason Hak isn't still the coach 10 years from now is that he has moved on/up.

how many years was Woog a head coach before he posted a record like that?... :D

  3. This was not the team, and it was not the year. No Biggie. As I stated before, the 2005-2006 team with 6 #1 draft picks and 3 #2 draft picks...Stafford, Zajac, Toews, Oshie, Finley, Lee, Chorney, Kozek, Smaby was really the deepest team talent-wise. On top of those 9 huge prospects, we also had a guy who is playing pro in Europe (Spirko) a future hobey winner in Duncan, and great character guys like Porter, Kaip, Fabian and Prpich...How did we lose that year?:D???

    Isn't the answer obvious?

  4. Nobody is saying Blais was perfect or that his teams were flawless. But for the most part, his teams were prepared (mentally and physically) to play, whether it was against Michigan Tech or Minnesota. And the games you mentioned were not blowout losses like the one we endured last week. The Denver game was a one goal loss in the 1999 Final Five title game. The two regional losses were by one goal to Michigan in 1998 (at Yost Ice Arena) and a two goal loss in 1999 against Boston College (one goal if you discount the empty-netter). Yes, those losses were disappointing, but I don't think it happened as much back then as it does now. This season, I would go to The Ralph on Saturday night after a Friday night win and often wonder if the same team would show up again so we could sweep at home. When that happens as often as it did this season, there is a definite problem with consistency that I think must be addressed.

Anyone who makes any comparison between Blais and Hakstol is completely out of touch...there is no comparison until Hakstol achieves something worthy of comparison. The only coach he can be compared to right now is Doug Woog, both made it 4 straight but Woog won WCHA titles. Hakstol hasn't won anything despite having the best facilities in the world as a recruting tool. After next year he won't deserve another year at UND.

  5. Back off man! I try to be as PC as possible on this site. When I have been tough on players in the past, I was blasted for it. Miller has played much better in the second half of the season. The reason I started this topic in the first place was due to the fact that I thought Miller has stunk it up with Oshie and Duncan. He was much more effective with Frattin and Martens! When Trupp is healthy, Miller is the odd man out! Don't want to throw him under the bus more than that!

You are correct and I hear ya. But when you set it up like that, somebody has to spike it.

Miller has 5 goals on the season. 2 ENGs and one he scored while sitting on the bench. He may have had a better 2nd half but his bar was laying on the ground. That being said, I've been waiting all year for him to feed me crow. Hopefully next week I'll be fed.

  6. Trupp will play, so I agree with everything you have here with one exception. Malone could be in over Miller. Martens and Miller have both done a nice job down the stretch!

Do you consider 0 points for Miller in the last 4 games (Final Five & MW Regional) a nice job considering he's been on the same line as Oshie and Duncan? please.....

  7. BC has had the past 2 years to win a National Title and choked in both. It's our turn for a shot!

Kinda explains how we played BC the last couple of years. Our chokes precipitated there's. Let's face it, we had the best team in the FF the last 2 yrs but choked. This year we probably aren't the best team. Maybe that will be enough to propel us to the title that has eluded us the last 4 frozen fours (including 2001). Stop taking periods off guys. Give us at least 40 minutes of Sioux hockey. That should be better than the competition's 60. Just do it!

    Go Sioux!

  8. You are my favorite Sioux fan for cheering for the Gophers :D

I suspect you will have a lot of favorite Sioux fans if cheering for the gophers in this game is the only criteria.

    Kangas in a shut-out! 2-0 :D

  9. Not in the NCAAs :D :D

Touche! But I think this is the year they get the monkey off their back. (at least against Clarkson).

The Gophers and SCSU could contribute heavily on who wins the Hobey.....shut down Gerbe and Porter...hmmmm ;)

  10. Miller, please..... Duncan needs a solid forechecker on that line to draw attention away from him. That ain't Miller. I don't like RD to become a set-up guy for players (like Miller) who cannot finish. Kozek isn't an assist player, he's a goal scorer. I like him on the second line with Vande and Trupp (should he return for the regional). Who's left, Kaip perhaps?....

  11. Michigan/Clarkson shouldn't take SCSU lightly. If their PP is clicking, they are a tough team to beat. Also I like the way Kangas is playing. Goalies really make a difference in the NCAAs. If BC wins I only hope that Gerbe is kept off the scorecard.

  12. Winner winner chicken dinner!

Best episode ever. I love the scene when everyone is at Cheers is watching the game on TV and McHale walks across the game looking dazed and confused...he's counting bolts! :silly:

just curious, did he count the 2 in his neck?

  13. I agree, if Hak thinks it's best then so be it. I just wanted to point out that Kozek was the leading goal scorer until he got put back on the third line.

I also think that a physical forward on that line helps Duncan get free to shoot. We really haven't seen much from him since Kozek was moved. Duncs has really struggled. In the last 10 games, Ryan has scored only 1 goal and added 3 assists. We definitely need him to step up if we want to return to the FF.
