  1. Why are you so happy they didn't listen to the people of the Standing Rock. This proves there is NO democracy on that reservation and it will come back at the council big time. At least if they let the people vote and they voted NO then that is a decision everyone can understand. No one can understand this decision, unless they are going to ask the board to do nothing until a vote of the tribe is final.

There's less and less democracy in America as well.

  2. I personally don't like referring to the gopher players as "gay" for bleaching their hair either. That just wouldn't be fair or right in this day and age.

It would be more politically correct to refer to them as "nancy boys"

  3. I think the main difference was that the Sioux had Oshie, Duncan, Travis Zajac, Jon Toews and Drew Stafford...the talent was there, it just took a while to surface...I'm not sure I see that level of talent with the current group...

Comparing the talent of these guys with what we have today is laughable. That being said there doesn't appear to be as many "blue chippers" in college hockey as there was just a few years ago. Now more than ever it comes down to recruiting good players and developing them into great players. Neither seems to be working out for the Sioux right now.

  4. the current leadership in UND is hostile to the Fighting Sioux name. They won't say it publicly, but their actions indicate a very laissez-faire approach. Their public face protrays a helplessness as the SBHE has their way, and they're not serious about fighting this. I think part of the problem is the inherent disconnect when you have out-of-state people running this institution. These people don't love the name, the culture, or quite frankly, the University, to act as anything but a bunch of politicians.

add collusion and you'll have it all covered.

  5. How did Finley get a separated shoulder? Wouldn't that have required him making physical contact at some point in time?

To make things worse, word is Finley has a sprained neck now too after watching the UNH player blow past him in the OT.

    EDIT: Not necessary.

  6. Lets face it, it's tough to out-recruit power house teams like Bemidji St and get players to give you 60 minutes. We must have had a lot of over achievers on this squad this year to have accomplished so much. Although the odds are usually with you when you have a 2 goal lead in the 3rd period, it's really hard to develop a game plan to close those types of games out. Very few coaches have that ability, or perhaps it's just luck or lack of bounces. Ah well, good try guys.

  7. I wouldn't be so tough on Mn for not getting in. They played the best team in the tounament tougher than anyone else. We played the worst hockey of any team in St.Paul. I for one hope they can turn things around but I will be shocked if we have a good showing on Sat.

  8. There are a decent amount of scenarios with UW beating the Gophers in the Final that don't put the Gophers even in the field. Gophers need two wins and to hope for the best.

true, but "likely" scenarios? I also think that most likely they get in with a win over Duluth.

  9. When Hack was quoted "We're close", I didn't think he meant "close" to utter collapse. We need a coach that can do a better job recruiting and motivate the players to get their best effort in big games. Hakstol hasn't done that since he was hired. Some replies have indicated that he's likened to Doug Woog. Hardly, although Woog never won a title, he won the WCHA several times during his tenure.

  10. Non-smokers have essentially classified smokers as 2nd class citizens.

    They're self-classifying Dave...........and I've never heard of a non-smoker polluting the air of a smoker..

  11. Lets face it, smokers have very little respect for non-smokers so I'm glad this passed. I really could care less if smoking is allowed in bars but the disrespect towards non-smokers does not simply exist indoors. Everyday at 5pm when I leave work the cigs are coming out before we get out the door. Then we all get to experience blown smoke in our faces all the way to the parking lot. They can't wait 2 minutes to get into their cars?

Sorry but I'd never vote for anything that provides relief or priveledge to the disrespectful, no matter what their disgusting habit may be.

  12. Good luck TJ.

Now, where will we replace his goal scoring (not to mention his heart) after finishing the season with the lowest goal scoring total in more than a decade of Sioux hockey?

  13. Poor preparation is different than poor performance.

Coaches can be held accountable for poor preparation. I do not think that the coach can be held accountable if his team goes out and just plays badly.

I think both were the case against BC. Hakstol didn't do well this time around, but neither did the entire team. A true team loss for sure.

Different yes, but certainly linked to motivation and mental readiness which leads to performance, good or bad.

Bad preparation = bad performance. The coach has responsibility and accountability for both. Not a big deal in Oct, a huge problem in April.
