  1. I get tired of hearing about "east coast bias". If you win, well, that's the ultimate revenge and nothing is sweeter. And if you lose, who gives a rats butt if you get any media love. You lost. I'd rather be the no-name underdog and win.
  2. They often seem to find it more interesting to talk about what we're talking about over here.
  3. I very much appreciate your posts. You are one of the few posters who brings up names of interesting players that we really don't get to hear about anywhere else. Thank you.
  4. Or blame the media for covering the story?
  5. Scarlet Knights ranked in the top 25. GO RUTGERS!
  6. You'll only catch me saying this once regarding the HC game but any team can crap out once against anyone. Unfortunately for Goldy he did it at pretty much the worst possible time. Every year is a new year. I don't particularly care for the idea that last year's champ is this year's #1 until knocked off for that same reason. I also don't care to call a team the "reigning" national champ the year after they've won it either. The previous team was the champion for that last year, IMO. In that regard, I don't think you can take performance at the end of the year and necessarily factor that into where they'll be to start this year. What if Ryan Potulny was bored with college hockey? What if he moped around the gopher dressing room pining for the time to pass because he wanted to sign his pro contract and get his signing bonus? What if he got fed up and coughed up the puck to HC and then half-heartedly tried to chase down the play because he WANTED to lose. Do you think THAT should factor in to where the gophers are ranked THIS season? Disclaimer: the above was an extreme and actually absurd illustration and in no way is meant to portray the author's real opinions on the player Ryan Potulny, who I'm quite certain was a fine teammate and quality guy.

You've covered many topics. Academics is another discussion point. UND isn't an IVY League or Big 10 school but ranks highly in many aspects. The Sioux coaches have always stressed success in academics going back through the Blais era at least. The Aerospace program is world renowned, and the School of Engineering and Mines is also well thought of (except for they let me slip through back in 1987. I imagine they've tightened things up since then). Here's a fairly impressive list of School of Engineering and Mines Alumni. UND may not be a "big name" school, but it's obvious that it turns out high quality engineers and managers. I'm sure there are many other names that could be added to this list. The current president of Otter Tail Power, Chuck MacFarlane is an electrical engineering graduate of UND in 1987. In 2004 the Princeton Review listed UND as 14th on the list of top 25 Entreprenurial schools. You have to be doing something right there. More on that ranking:

  10. I just care that we are #1 on NEXT season's preseason poll.
  11. And look how dangerous lead is to human life. And they are GLORIFYING that! How horrible for us.
  12. David Carle is Matt Carle's younger bro, correct?
  13. I say when Wisconsin comes to the Ralph our team is the Fighting Sioux and their team is referred to as "Wisconsin" on the scoreboard, etc.
  14. To be fair I don't think Slap Shot was saying Oshie deserves to be rated lower due to his age. I think he was grasping at a potential explanation. SS also indicated it seemed he should be rated higher.
  15. I think the answer to that is a resounding "nope". I only was able to watch this on tv and on videotape. That was possibly THE most definitive TJ Oshie play of his career.
  16. Thanks. I didn't know that. I knew his position, but didn't realize he was THE driving force. Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out, Roy.
  17. Wasn't he the recruit mentioned in the Blarney's scandal?
