  1. I emailed him about a correction, and received this reply this afternoon. Thought it only fair to post it here: edit: I see stickboy already posted the same response. At least he's consistent!
  2. The Sioux did a pretty good job last weekend of staying out of the penalty box. That said there were about 3 unnecessary and stupid penalties our boys took on Saturday, Radke's elbow being one of them. That cost a goal. Anyway, with our putrid PK and Duluth's PP, if the Sioux don't stay out of the box it could be a bad weekend. We cannot afford a bad weekend. We need all 4 points. Boys better come to play, and the whole game.
  3. I certainly had a question at the time as to why their guy (didn't see who) ran over Lammy without a call. I specifically paid close attention on the replay to see if he was pushed into Lammy and it was my opinion he was not. And I'm a guy who believe Roche pushed the SCSU played into Goehring in 2001.
  4. Spiros got it wrong. They weren't cited for underage drinking, just being there.
  5. I'm going to take this in another direction, hope that's ok. It's still a question about the Ralph. Just heard on the radio here in Mpls that there is a fairly large power outage up in Grand Forks, and they specifically mentioned some concern about saving the ice for this weekend's games. Any updates? I'm glad I was up for last weekend's games if there's going to be a problem.
  6. Good grief, I wonder if some people read. Did Zach Parise sit when he was busted for the same thing?
  7. I doubt Toews will win the Hobey but after watching him this weekend it's hard to believe there's a better player in college hockey right now. Case would have been stronger if he could have gotten the job done in the last 2 minutes Sat.
  8. Yes, and streaks come to an end. Sooner or later the Dogs are going to bite the Sioux. Can't have it this weekend, though. We gave away a point to Mankato, we have to be selfish against Duluth.
  9. This hotel computer is far too slow to stop to read this thread. I thought I'd just quick post a few of my own observations of last night's game. The Ascension In my mind last night's game was where Jonathon Toews stepped out and showed the world the player he truly is. Keeping in mind that this is the first time I've seen him play all season in person, maybe I've just missed too much. But from what I've seen on tv in a handful of games, Toews was a step up from anything I've seen from him. He moved from an excellent college hockey player to a guy I just hope remains with our program for the rest of the year. He was that good last night, I thought. Body position, puck control, vision, hands, face-offs, responsible defense, playing at a high speed....it was all there last night. I was fortunate to be sort of behind the goal where he scored his first goal of the game. If you saw it on tv, slow motion replay doesn't do it justice. As he came in to the Mav zone at high speed it was hard to believe how he could handle the puck so effectively as he puckhandled and blew right by the poor defenseman, and then burned the goalie five hole. For me, it was one of the top few goals I've ever seen scored, not just because he walked a defenseman, but because of how fast he was moving in everything that he did. Incredible. Chorney's interview with Hennessey after the game was a gut-buster. Very funny. Hope you heard it. We also got a good laugh out of Clark challenging Walski to a fight while everyone else was tied up with 50 seconds left in the game. We thought Walski should skate out part way to the red line and tell Clark "I'm not going to fight you. The way your team plays I'm probably getting in the game tomorrow night too." Funny how predictable Mankato is. With 5 minutes left we said to each other that this game could turn ugly and shortly thereafter Genoway is in a fight with a Maverick player. With 1 minute left we said there's no way we get through the last minute. We didn't get 15 seconds. Lastly, for those of you who were lucky enough to attend the Sioux Booster lunch, what a treat. If you weren't there the highlight was the MC, who is a real spunky gal, said she had a present to send to one of the WCHA refs. McLeod was in the audience, and she said she hoped he didn't mind that she had a present for the refs. Then she pulled out a MN gopher jersey with Campion's name stitched on the back. The place roared. Then she asked if Coach Hakstol and Jutting might like to sign the card! What a great way to kick off the weekend. Mcleod looked like he took it with good humor. Hakstol came across as very sincere when he talked about how he was going to handle the Judy issues. I trust that he's handling things constructively.
  10. Nothing. But the write for the Trib wants to say that this incident might move Oshie and Toews out of town. Did he write the same thing for the gopher players who were in trouble last year? If not, why would he think this would affect Oshie/Toews this way? That's the question I'm asking.

    Free webcast

I would like to thank whoever for the free webcasts I've been able to watch this year. Quality wasn't the greatest but it beat listening to the radio even with the trade-off of Sweeney for Hennessey. Looks like in the future we'll have to pay for it though. Bummer.
  12. I think Spiros is a pretty good college hockey writer and it seems he has a strong interest in the game, but after the Blarney's incident, why does he think this will chase Toews/Oshie out of town? Did the Gopher's who left early leave because of Blarney's? I don't think so.
  13. I'll wait until next year and see if he improves. If so, it could be that shoulder is a problem still this year.
  14. Wow, I don't recall hearing about any of that sort of thing on the UND campus. He "heard" of these things, huh? Wonder how accurate his information was. What a shame he didn't do more to investigate the veracity of such.
  15. The way I've heard the story is that Chelios committed to Gino, then told Gino he was going to keep his visit to WI. Gino told him if he was going to go visit he should just go play there. My memory might be faulty but I thought I remembered reading or hearing that either Kobesew or Kolanos committed to UND and then changed their mind and went out to BC. Anyway, it does happen, and for various reasons. That's why us fans hold our breath until the ink is dry.
  16. I'd look at the back-up kicker. Hey, I'm just sayin'....
  17. A verbal commitment is not binding. Kids do verbally commit and then change their minds. Or have them changed.
  18. I agree. I've been a defender of Watkins but it's high time he get a few goals. I don't expect him to score 15-20 a year, but Mike Prpich numbers shouldn't be out of reach for him. He needs to step it up. If the Mav's are a little beat up there's no excuse. Even if they are healthy, it seems to me a "must-sweep". If Morin is healthy I think the boys should drive him to the ice every chance they get.
  19. Bingo. Then you sober up and think "I should know better".
  20. Wow, I can't imagine the humiliation for the players when they sober up and read this stuff. I can't imagine how unmerciful these boards would be if our boys pulled out that kind of stuff.
  21. HockeyMom said she hopes she never has to find out what the punishment is for a DWI. I'm just saying, everyone has a choice. No one needs to hope they won't get one.
  22. 40% of my family was nearly wiped out in a head on collision with a drunk driver in 1972. You never have to "hope". Now that I sound preachy, I'll freely (and with some embarrassment) admit there were way too many times in my life when I should have known better, all things considered.
  23. We'll start recruiting lacrosse goalies.
  24. You can be the commissioner, and I'll be the vice commissioner. Sounds more fun anyway.
