ECAC was pretty decent in Cincy

Agreed, I thought the officiating was much better than we have historically considered it to be in the national tournament.  Hope that continues.   And if I may dare say, I thought UND got away with some stuff occasionally.

The team posing with pirates in Tampa, FL next to a 737 is so out of this world, so mind bottling, so Tampa, it's insane. Just wild, wild stuff we're getting from the Frozen Four.  I love it. If the boys go on to win #8, I'm going to assume it was because of these pirates and from then on we're all going to have to dress as pirates to keep the luck going, right? Like that's what we're gonna have to do...a Ralph full of pirates. Yarrrr

    Missed nickname opportunity?   Fighting Pirates?

  3. She's already apologized to the ROTC commander, the one to whom she was out of line.  Unless she insulted or spoke poorly of the ROTC students/members, or students of the university as a whole, why should she have to apologize to them? (I will apologize if I don't recall all of the what she said at the time, but I don't recall her being critical of the ROTC members directly)

TG will bring the right attitude to the Wisco bench.  He'll be a fierce recruiter and a demanding coaching staff leader.  Expect Bucky to be officially "back" in five years time.

I bet it won't take that long

  5. I really don't have a big problem that she called 911 the first time.  A sensitive person might have an unusual reaction when they first see it.  But once you get an explanation, I think a reasonable person says "oh, thanks, I feel a lot better now" and drop the matter right there.    No issue with the initial reaction, but the follow-up is quite over the top IMO.

Earlier today i was listening to the NCAA Midwest Regional preview show on Cincinnati's WKRP.

Les Nessman feels that Notre Dame, much like himself, is much maligned and isn't receiving the credit he deserves.  "Beware the sleeping dog," he mutters.  "It may be Good Friday but this clan of Catholics is capable of staying focused and taking it to their Ann Arbor rivals."

"Michigan's all class," Herb Tarlek retorts. "Their helmets are as tacky as my cheap suits but make no mistake, they are explosive and fiery. Their top line has a trio of Hobey Baker candidates and their coach has made a career out of making opposing teams see Red."

Venus Flytrap counters with the team that has all the style, flash, and exuberance of a winner. "Northeastern is where it's at," he coolly noted. "After humble beginnings the downtrodden have risen to the pinnacle of the sport. Their howl is fierce and there ain't nothin' slowing this team down."

And finally Dr. Johnny Fever chimes in, singing the praises of the #1 Seed, North Dakota. "As sure as turkeys can fly, this team can dominate this tournament," Fever confidently proclaimed. "I've seen them rise to the Head of the Class - and I should know a thing or two about that. I know they wanted to go to St. Paul but this team's getting kind of tired of packin' and unpackin', from town to town, up and down the dial.  Maybe UND was never meant to be....ah heck, just call it a Frozen Four once more."

Then Jennifer Marlow walked in and no one cared about hockey anymore.

To be fair, you can say the same thing about the "Jade Helm" movement that alleged the U.S. Military was going to impose martial law on Texas.

That said, I agree with you on this.

    HAHA, how true!

I'm not even sure this is a wacko leftie as much as she is just a willing "victim" of, I'm guessing, just about everything.

In the short term this conference will be mediocre, long term I can actually see it succeeding. Just my 2 cents. We'll see what happens in the next 20 years.

I don't know much about the dynamics involved in this conference affiliation, but i agree with you.  What we're seeing is an aberration, and eventually things will change as fans get used to the teams in their conference, and forget about the "old rivalries".

NU, on the other hand, has basically played "win or go home" games since the first of December.  That kind of pressure, and success, even if done against average competition, can build a pretty strong team.

On the flip side of the coin, when some of the teams we've had like that burn out in the NCAAs people comment that maybe they got burned out playing in must-win games throughout the 2nd half.

This is where I was going too, SJHovey (same as InHeavenThereIsNoBeer).   I have no idea but sometimes I wondered if that long desperate grind in the 2nd half taxes a team enough that, once they get in, there's a bit of a mental let-down in intensity.   Every team is different and every situation is different.  I don't know enough about NU's season to make much of a guess.

I am a visitor from the East.

First of all Northeastern is "NU" not "NE".

I don't know what message boards you are reading, but we, who  post on Dieharddogs.com, do not consider us to be a favorite. We have a ton of respect for UNDs program and hockey traditions. I loved your Kelly green Sioux unis. Thought they were the best in the land. Big loss :>(.

Let me clear up a couple of things about the NU hockey team. To begin with, we have three good scoring lines and a fourth line that can both check and score the odd goal. The defense is greatly improved from the past and is aided by some serious fore and backchecking by the forwards. The goalie's figures are skewed by the terrible, and I mean terrible, start the team had. It took about 12 games before he got his first win. The team finally came together in Belfast at Thanksgiving. Since then his GAA is well below 2.00 and his save % is well above 9.20. He has given up 4 goals once and three goals twice in the past 23 games. The goals he gave up against UML came on a perfect shot and then a deflection off our defenseman's stick. His game has improved meaningfully since the fall. Interestingly his GA (including the early difficulties) is a full goal lower than he had with Des Moines last season. Who expected that? Kudos to our goalie coach.

The best we can hope for is that we come up with a way to blunt your offense and can spend enough time in the O zone that our forwards can work their magic. We'll be thrilled if we can get past you. We'll cross the Michigan bridge when we come to it.

    Good Luck!

    Welcome Hhound.

Curious, does your goalie know his girlfriend's pregnant?  If not, someone should tell him on, say Friday morning.   :D

It's already highly inappropriate to conduct unnecessary military maneuvers in the middle of the quad. But with school shootings on the increase and tensions at UND running high, it's especially irresponsible.

We're already under financial and emotional attack. We don't need to feel under physical attack, too.

With school shootings on the increase, wouldn't you want your law enforcement and military to be practicing for these situations?
