  1. Hate to do this again but i have no link either. from what i've heard Chorney is being offered lower then the rookie max that he wants and is heavily leaning toward coming back to school  and also that big joe and kozek will be back too. don't rip on me if this is wrong but this is what i heard from a pretty reliable person.

The sioux would probably like to see Finley sign, unfortunately the Capitals aren't nearly stupid enough to do such a thing.

  2. Actually.......He intended to kick it in, but didn't.

That puck was well on it's way before he kicked and missed.

Goal should have counted and it's a 3-2 game and who knows from there.

    Sheppard blows another one.

He took one away in the State HS semi that I thought should have counted too.

He was standing to the side of the net and the puck hit his skates, he tried kicking it to his stick but he couldn't get his stick on it. The puck went directly off of his foot and into the net and he made a forward motion with his foot.

<<That puck was well on it's way before he kicked and missed.>>

Why would someone kick at a puck that was going in?

  3. Just a question...

Who is going to suspend (or fire) Greg Sheppard for his blown call in the championship game of the frozen four? Didn't Randy Schmidt get suspended (and never reffed again if I recall?) for a similar call earlier this year when he disallowed a goal in a Wisc. vs Denver game? The WCHA needs to crackdown on their officials and get rid of guys like Sheppard!!

    Your thoughts??

    He did kick it in.

Intent doesn't matter, he made a kicking motion.

  4. Here's an idea. After getting your &*&^ handed to you 12 hours before, go home and get some sleep and reflect on the game. Life's a big party for TJ. I think there is a pattern developing here. GROW UP TJ. Life won't get an easier in St Louis.

Reflect on the game? Why so they make sure they bring their "A" game 6 months from now?

  5. Whoa, slow down a little. ND doesn't own the oil. They get a small slice of the pie, but most of it goes to whoever owns the oil and/or land rights, to cover drilling and pumping costs, etc. It isn't state owned, but the state will get some of the action, just like they do with the coal severance tax.

Obviously, I was talking about the revenue generated off of taxing the oil. Not swiping the oil from the land owners.

  6. What i wanna no though is what ND is gunna do with all this extra money? We have the 2nd biggest surplus in the US. We shoudl start spending some money on stuff like raising teacher salarys, promoting the state, among other things.

How about just giving it back to its residents?

  7. This is the most information I could find on selection, it comes directly from USHL.com: "USHL Central Scouting, like its NHL counterpart, is a league-run scouting service for the benefit of all the teams in the USHL. Throughout the 2007-08 season, the USHL Central Scouting staff of more than 20 members will identify the top players in North America. Upon identification, USHL Central Scouting will invite these elite players to participate in the USHL Central Scouting Showcase Camps, the only camps created specifically for exposure to the USHL."

Top players in North America? Nothing personal to those kids but none of them are even the top player on their own team.

  8. I believe Bancroft will be attending a USHL showcase tournament along with Kovaks of Dickinson, Gaustad of Grafton, Burdick of South, and Arnason of Red River as well. I may have missed a player or two in their and I apologize if that's the case.

Can anyone show up to this?

The reason I ask is Bancroft was probably the 8th or 9th best player on RR last yr. Burdick may have been the 10th or 11th best player on south last yr.

I didn't know that these teams were that deep?

  9. Yo espn 8,, your deinetleeyjl a smart person obvs if a team is good thr going to want to beat another tema cuz theyd be the team to beat but hey f the gophers ahha hahah New England Patriots NFL status is to Red Rivers HIGHSCHOOL Hockey status this year..... midseason .un-touchable.. (FO SHOW) not if theyd win but the question was always by how much?

after grafton beat them in the snow storm people came to realization you play top teams (grafton,,,, your going to get beat if your not playing at thr level they had guys out but hey they were still thr to win,,,, you couldnt of found a more gun ho team to win the title those guys have been told since they were youngins !@#$ you guys team up your going to win a title by god they did but just not the year they were suppose to..... they were athelets this year the whole gard darn team they kicked buttcheaks out thr this year.....we can all agree on it was a suspensful and fun year to watch hockey and im glad it was this year i didnt get it to be done in my season when i was watching but i got to watch it during the hockey season i sure had fun watching you guys play hockey!!! alll of you to the "MR.Hockey". to the penalty minutes it was a fun season. thanks for lettting me get on the

"after action" i had fun. congrats in my book you will lways even 60 years down the road when some of you guys will be dead......willl always register as one of the most dominate teams in the game. minus those lucky bassaners that got a "perfect season" you guys were good and its time for the hot tubb yeah yeah....!!!!! [color=#FF0000]GO RIDERS!!!!!

How many deep were you when you wrote this?

  10. Here is the all Siouxnami 1st, 2nd, and Rookie teams. Based on WCHA play and not cupcakes like RPI (sorry Turris)... Attempting to not be too much of a homer, but UND and CC dominate the awards as they were clearly the 2 best teams.

    1st Team:

    F: Ryan Lasch

    F: Chad Rau

    F: T.J. Oshie

    D: Jack Hillen

    D: Joe Finley

    G: Jean-Philippe Lamoureux

    2nd Team:

    F: Garrett Roe

    F: Andreas Nodl

    F: Ryan Duncan

    D: Robbie Bina

    D: Chay Genoway

    G: Richard Bachman

    Rookie Team:

    F: Garrett Roe

    F: Tyler Bozak

    F: Kyle Turris

    D: Ryan McDonagh

    D: Brendan Smith

    G: Richard Bachman

Player of the Year: Chad Rau

Freshman of the Year: Richard Bachman

What do you think? BTW, I pick Joe Finley because he led the WCHA in +/- while still contributing offensively.

Finley ahead of Chorney and Bina. Interesting.

  11. Lives-to-Play, would do us all a favor and tell us who you are. You had stated numerous times you played fro Red River and graduated in 06. I happen to know all the seniors from that team, and your profile and comments do not seem to match anyones personality.

Back to the topic. SportsDoc, i agree with you most part, but as a coach you can never take away from your team. (telling the ref you had too many). Also, even if he did say to the refs they had too many, no the refs would not and SHOULD not change there call. What if they always went to the coaches for advice? The refs are on the ice for a reason. To answer your questions about when they figured out there were six guys? It appeared to be well after the play, all six players celebrated and went through the line of players on the bench and the last guy casually slipped onto the bench. Another place the refs messed up was telling the Red River Captains they are aware they had six players on the ice for the celebration, that is a penalty in itself to come off the bench for a celebration.

That last line is absurd. There are more than 6 players on the ice during a celebration all the time. This is because coaches frequently change after goal and those players congratulate the person who scored.

Thats funny cause me and the guys I played with were talking about you the other day. We obviously had a good laugh.

  12. It just sucks that the better team didn't win. RR was the best team this year. Their season in many peoples minds is a failure becasue they didn't win the big game. This team has competed with the best of the best. They took Roseau Minnesota's #1 to OT and lost on a fluke call. It sucks that GPR had six men on the ice and it wasn't called. You Grafton people know it too. In my mind this team will not be forgotten. You can't judge a team by one goal.

They got tight under pressure. Simple as that.

  13. I'm not sure I'd even say that one team outplayed the other. Grafton got a big break and from then on it was about as even as it gets. It would've been interesting to see how the game would've turned out had the officials made the correct call, however.

This Red River team wasn't that good, they didn't have the dream team this year. They can't even be in the conversation for best ND high school team ever.

  14. Great game played by both teams. A lot of fun to watch from the stands and by the end you could tell both teams were completely worn down.

That said, I left the game completely embarrassed as a fan of hockey. I hate to blame the game on the referees, but when Grafton tied it up at two there were clearly six players on the ice. This went on for about 15 seconds and they eventually ended up scoring (obviously). There was a lengthy discussion among the officials about whether the goal should stand or not and it eventually ended up counting. Absolutely embarrassing by the officials to miss that call, as it would've negated the RR penalty (GPR was on a power play) and given the Riders a power play with just under 8 minutes left in the game.

Terrible, terrible, terrible, and completely unexcusable. If you were watching on TV you couldn't tell at all, but the announcers get clued in as it goes on. It's tough not to feel cheated if you were one of the kids on the ice (or a fan in the stands for that fact).

It ended up being a great game and all congratulations goes to the Spoilers, but its a bit tough to stomach knowing what actually happened.

I think it was obvious that the best team won the state championship. Being a former red river player it tough for me to say it but GPR was the better team. The refs did a great job and let the kids play. One call didn't determine the game.

  15. North over Williston 3-1. You've got to be kidding me....#2 seed from the West? North just beat the #2 WDA seed and #2 regular season seed in consecutive days.... Congrats to North!

The west is brutal. They managed to walk away with no hardware. None, Zilch, Notta. They won the minimum amount of games possible for four teams in an eight team tournament.

  16. consolation bracket...

    north 5, mandan 1

    williston 4, century 1

    semifinals...

    gpr 6, bhs 2

gfrr and south just getting going

interesting stat from the nd state tourney, both against century, and i watched both games... ladouceur had one assist and played well defensively for a dominant team that won 8-2... while rehak had a goal and an assist and was a shutdown defenseman all game in a 4-1 victory. take it for what it is... rehak did what he has been doing all season long, but he is from the west, so i am sure he is overrated.

Century blows so using them in an argument is worthless.

  17. really??? willeston, dickenson??? have you never left grand ferks or can you just not spell? i would guess those of you saying rehak doesn't deserve to be a finalist have never seen him play (or possibly saw the one game they played rr in last years state tourney and almost knocked them off, rr didn't have a lead until a few minutes left in the game) he is one of the very few north dakota kids who have legitimate division 1 talent. he is a great skater and has great vision, and is arguably the most physical defenseman in the state. he is just as good of player as ladoucer, but plays out west on a non-dominant team. like i stated earlier, i think ladoucer deserves it, and meland's numbers are outstanding, but rehak is legit. i don't know much about the bhs kid, but i wouldn't be surprised to see the other three finalists all in div 1 hockey in a couple of years. im sure you can all make your arguments about who should be there instead... the four finalist from rr comment was quite humorous, but don't discount a kid you know nothing about, because you think the west sucks and everyone should bow down to your team. it is attitudes like that that make me hope someone knocks rr off their high horse, although i realize the chances are slim.

ladoucer?? really?? have you never left the west or can you just not spell?

  18. If "cheering" for your team involves cursing, or using words like "suck", then no....................they shouldn't be allowed to cheer. Also, if that's why kids don't go to games, please. That is a weak, weak reason!!!

You can't argue that this doesn't play a role. Kids don't want to be told what to do.

Let me guess you're one of those parents that wants to turn the scoreboard off in blow out games?

    or

Should players not be allowed to celebrate because it could make some 17 yr old kids feel bad?

  19. wouldnt it be great if we moved the north dakota border west a view miles so that the red river valley could be in minnesota...so that way fargo, gf, and grafton all played the caliber of hockey they deserve...it would make for a more exciting tournament than just seeing only two teams capable of playing each other in a state championship...im just glad rr and grafton split during the year so it can be a close game...and that way western hockey good join junior gold teams to play at their caliber of hockey...we would keep the sioux of course tho lol

    my predictions...

    south over williston - 6-4

    grafton over mandan- 5-0

    red river over century-8-0

    bismarck over north-6-2

red river over south - 6-1

    grafton over bismarck- 4-1

grafton over red river-5-4 possibly O.T.

    South over Willeston 7-1

    GPR over Mandan 12-0

    Red River over Century 14-0

    North over Bismarck 4-3

  20. EDC picks

All top seeds hold serve in first round. Only possible upset is North over Central.

South nips my alma mater in the 2nd round

GPR rolls either GFC or North.

GPR beats South in the championship

Red River rips up whoever they play in the play-in game for state

DL also earns entry by beating Central or North
