bob norton is such a pile of crap. porter is a favorite, but its not that clear. and obviously no love for UND. DU has been playing good hockey, but i dont see how they can make it past 2 good wcha teams.
btw norton picked john curry(bu of course!) goepfert, and brown as hobey favorites last year. that guy is a moron.

thats true. i think the loss today could prove to be a good character loss. i hope thats the case. of course i wont be able to see the sioux play tommorow either, so i will need an unbiased post-game report

Absolutely, nothing against Trupp, Frattin, Malone.....but right now put Gregoire, Toews and Cichy on a line and I think those guys would run circles around our current third line. Good omen for the future!!
the nice thing about DT is that he will be more likely to stay for 3 yrs than jon was. trupp can fit in with those three, frattin will be another kozek imo. i see malone as more of a VV type i hope. the 08 team will be deep.

Nobody who was special before a nickname change comes out less special after the change. Stanford comes to my mind. Would anyone seriously consider refusing a baseball/basketball/football scholarship from them because they change their nickname from Indians to Cardinal? From what I hear their is a lot more to UND than a nickname. Sure the nickname is special, but what makes it special is UND Hockey not vice versa. That said those who are passionate about the nickname can fight it as long as they are willing.
it wouldnt be starting all over. it would only take a few years for things to settle in. other teams that are forgotten with name changes are forgotten because they suck ie washington wizards. und will have a strong program still.

Right it was Malone, he had tripped over a DU player (who was lying on the ice.) After the whistle the guy skated up to Malone from behind and slashed him on the back of the legs. Both Hunt and a linesman saw it and refused to call it. That set the stage of what was going to happen later in the game.
Vandervelde took at least two slashes during play that was not called.
Oshie was getting a beating every play. He took a slash that I heard from a long ways away.
Marco Hunt is 100% responsible for the brawl that took place.
Meanwhile Malone's "hooking" penalty was nothing like it. He didn't touch the DU player with the stick. The DU player fell backwards and Hunt from 10 feet away called it hooking. The replay would confirm that it wasn't hooking in that the guy fell over backwards, not towards the hooker.
That "Freeman" guy from Friday night was ok, but Hunt was as worthless as they come. He was officiating for 1) a split and 2) a brawl.
i agree that the officiating sucked sat., but hunt officiated both games. his stuff didnt come in on time fri. so he wore freeman's stuff with orange bands on his arms.

Those aren't rankings, just a list of players for 2009.
it is a general ranking. it is not exact. i think its like heisenbergs. he definitely has the best at the top of his list and the lesser at the bottom. hopefully chris is watching on to shed some light on what it is exactly.

I know this is a little off topic, but with Miami's goalie letting in 10 last weekend, and Bachman letting in a few, our man Jean-Philippe is now sitting atop the NCAA Goalie stats. Combine that with the Fighting Sioux Strength of Schedule ranking of #1 (hardest schedule) and I think we have a serious Hobey candidate between the pipes.
I'm just sayin'....
unless he finishes with about 1 GAA in the last games its probably not going to happen. i think he deserves to be a finalist and frozen four MVP.

Who is the recruit? Would the fact that it's being televised on FSSN be any indication of who's he's choosing?
i agree. btw, how did you come across this info BIG A HG? i just wonder about this because we are full for 08 and almost for 09, and for someone to hold a press conference they must be highly recruited...at least i would assume. maybe its belfour for 08?

Fienhage is pronounce Fa-nog-E. I didn't know that. I am watching the game replay and he looks very solid defensively and really skates well. Kind of looks like Smaby on the ice.

This is a fairly recent ranking. 59th in north america means he could be well below the 100th picked player if, and that is a big if he gets picked at all. That is 4th or 5th round material and I still believe from what I saw that that is too high. Euros start to go in larger numbers after the second round.
I still remember Eric Doyle from last year. projected as a late first or early second rounder and never got selected. Its a big crap shoot and MacWilliam has a lot of scouts who are not very sure about him. The fact that he has committed to UND will certainly help his draft stock since they know he is going to a good program.
I'm still not convinced. He didn't show me enough. His foot speed is questionable and he is playing with guys a year younger who are already better than him.
Maybe this can be a good test regarding my judge in talent. We'll see in a few months I guess.
i guess i just trust hak. im confident that he is bringing in a quality player.

i think hak pulled a gwoz to try and fire up his team. i also think that eades will handle the team very well and it will prove to be a good thing for the team having a change of pace...we will see.

I'm somewhat with you. Tony L. immediately went after Zajac sticking up for the blindside crosscheck. Things didn't go well at first, but he got up and eventually threw the coward down. Tony Lucia can't score to save his life, but he righted a wrong.
I don't think I could possibly be more disappointed with Wheeler this weekend. Fighting with guys like Kaip and Malone, then his OT poke. Ridiculous. He needs to take Oshie's approach and just skate away. He let let the Sioux get under his skin.
All in all it was the best weekend of Gophers/Sioux at Mariucci for a long time. Eight periods of teams going all out.
last nights game was the best ive seen since the regional final last year. FSN could not be more biased. i hope that minny fans realize that. every event that is 2 sided and they constantly get on the sioux players for playing "old time hockey" it would be nice if they could acknowledge the fact that its usually not one sided.

great outcomes. so we go up 5 points on du and if they sweep out when we dont play they can only up us by 3 total..nice work sioux.maybe cc will stumble a couple times, we keep the unbeaten streak going and battle for the crown!

4. im plenty happy with 3 points against the gophs. they played much better than a road team. and kangas did save the gophers. lam did awesome for us too.

I watched MacWilliam. I'm going with Dave Reid's assessment. Doesn't strike me as someone who should be getting all the attention that he is getting. Safe, average D-man for the AJHL. That is about it.
I preferred his younger partner Olsen who is a 1991. Seemed to have more of a skill set and saw the ice a little better.
But what do I know, Hak is the coach and he knows more of what he needs on the back end than what I know. I'm guessing that he is trying to shore up his D-zone with a safe guy when he starts to lose some guys to graduation.
so an average dman is projected to go 2nd or 3rd round?

these schools would suck even more than now if they have to abide by eligibility rules. it could pose a threat within 5-10 years though. who knows.
