  1. Heisenberg has Fienhage listed as an 09 now, and both MacWilliam and Gleason as 08 or 09 recruits. If he is correct, it would be Gleason and/or MacWilliam joining Blood this fall depending on the decisions of Chorney & Finley.

your right, i mixed gleason and feinhage around. im not sure which of those i would pick to bring in...gleason is fast, but mac is big...

  2. A blue chip recruit is a special player. He's a guy where you look and say, that guys going to be an absolute supper star at this level. It's hard to put a number on how many they are year to year because it changes, but I'd say on any given year there are between 4 and 8 blue chip college hockey recruits. The term blue chip is thrown around way to literally now days.

Now obviously there are multiple cases of non blue chippers coming in and having better freshman seasons than blue chippers its just the way it goes. I by no means was making fun of Brad E. by saying he's not a blue chipper hes just not one of the top 10 recruits in the nation.

In my opinion last years blue chippers: (Keep in mind this is before the season started)

Kyle Turris, JVR, Ryan McDonagh, Nick Petrecki, Ian Cole, Kevin Shattenkirk, Brendan Smith, Tyler Bozak, Max Pacioretty

In my opinion here are this years blue chippers:

David Toews, Aaron Ness, Jordan Schroeder, Jason Gregoire, Vinny Saponari, Jake Gardiner, Zac Dalpe

I disagree with you thinking that Bozak was a bc before the year. after...yes.

  3. its best when they are successful, and the Sioux are DOMINANT. its cool to see the aforementioned teams being very successful and we beat them. it is a dream that we fans will live for the next few years, i hope.

  4. Not really sure why everyone is SO SHOCKED he came back......he was UNDRAFTED. But next year hasn't started yet......so still time for him to leave....money does talk.

Why does every new poster have to create a bunch of NOISE? Ryan Duncan was highly sought after by a number of teams. this year it diminished(i would guess) because he didnt win the hobey, and those teams probably knew that he wanted to graduate.

BTW, undrafted players are, in some cases, the most dangerous flight risks.

  5. It's ok everyone...since goon here considers him a blue chipper i'm on board too...just outta curiosity...why do you, Goon, consider him a blue chipper? From when you went up north and scouted him?

i have to agree with goon on this one. eidsness has a tremendous upside. i think its a good possibility that we could see a kangas or bachman here. most people look too hard at the draft to decide if they are blue chips. no joke, but frazee was a blue chip recruit. cory schneider was too...and he turned out to be a blue chip player. what i like about eidsness is that he has excellent numbers and is supposed to be a technical goalie. i personally got a little tired of lammy's flopping the last few years. i would much rather have somebody that is not fancy, but stops the puck. look at schneider, elliott, kangas, bachman. all of these guys make it look like they are not really working hard, because they are most always in position.

  6. i have nothing but respect for Duncan. he carries himself and others around him so well. he never gets himself into trouble, either. i know im not alone when i say he is a tremendous asset to UND in every respect, not just his play.

  7. Hate to do this again but i have no link either. from what i've heard Chorney is being offered lower then the rookie max that he wants and is heavily leaning toward coming back to school :) and also that big joe and kozek will be back too. don't rip on me if this is wrong but this is what i heard from a pretty reliable person.

i have little doubt that finley and kozek will be back. i question chorney staying...but i would not be surprised if he did stay. with another year of guys staying that could leave...ill say no more

  8. This is interesting...Heisenberg has Cichy, Bruneteau, and Fienhage listed as 2009 now.

    SO

Kaip and Radke for Hextall and Lamoureaux

Oshie and Forney for Gregoire and Toews

    Bina for Blood

    Lamoureaux for Eidsness

and either Gleason or MacWilliam(im thinking Mac) will take Chorney's spot.

i think we are done with departures after Chorney. :):D

  9. Negative he would have three years left. He took a medical redshirt this season.

how do you know? that has never been released. it has been a lingering rumor for months here...that doesnt mean anything. until i see a release, he has 2 years left.

  10. I think Hakstol has a tough job this summer but one has to wonder if Martins and Miller have played maybe their last games, do you let them continue their streak of Mediocrity contributing little on the score sheet or do you bring in your blue chip recruits. While I am not the coach I would rather see new up and comers Cichy, Toews and Bruneteau. I think David Toews and Gregoire are going to make immediate impacts like Jonathan Toews and Travis Zajac did.

I have to disagree on your assessment of martens. i think hes a very good and smart player. i hate to come down on any particular players, so im not going to say anything about miller. miller was put into a tough spot when he was put on the top line...a move that nobody i know liked. both players didnt score much, but i dont remember them making any major mistakes either.

  11. Ok, maybe there are going to be a few more openings. Do you honestly think that the coach is going to prolong the Toews, Cichy arrival so a player like Davidson will stay on the roster? Seriously, the guy is a walk on who is going to have a hard time cracking the line up as opposed to a blue chipper like Toews. I am thinking a few others players might be on the outside looking in.

actually, davidson was recruited. hes on scholarship. i do think that something could happen with he and forney this summer, though.

the guys i see coming in FOR SURE...for forwards

    Toews

    Hextall

    Gregoire

i think that cichy will be here, but i cant give it the for sure yet...too many question marks

  12. I've seen that speculation somewhere, .... now where was it.

    Oh, here it is.

    [/smirk]

nice write up. this is the first time i have thought that toews could be 09. that will only happen if the injury would keep him sitting out. cichy is similar. i have been assuming that he would be coming in no questions asked. that may not be a bad idea to have him develop another year. needless to say, there are a lot of question marks this postseason.

  13. I think we need to get back to the days of fast up front with a good mixture of tree trunks and skilled offensive defenseman.

It would appear that the recruits coming in and the ones we have left that will be the case. I also want the opposition to know if he does something stupid in front of our net he is going to hurt after completeing the stupid act. I also think this next team is going to be tougher and meaner. Toughness with skill and speed wins games.

i agree. it is a nice combination to have. i dont like it when forwards of other teams can lay out our dmen(no offense to genoway).

  14. YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH that is great news. We need a defenseman smashing people infront of our net again like Greene did. The Sioux need to instill fear into the oppostion and make them not want to go infront of our net again.

I don't think currently the Sioux have struck that fear based on the number of times an opponent has run over our goaltenders.

blood will bring much need size too. we may have blood, mcW, and finley all next year. thats crazy size.

  15. I think Chay will be with the Sioux for all four seasons. He is very small for a dman, and isn't drafted.

I, for one, will be quite fine with him being in a Sioux uni for another 2 seasons. :D

Hopefully the "Kozek's dad story" is true, I think Kozek could really do some damage offensively if he were to stay for another season.

not being drafted can be worse for keeping a player.

and i hope that story is true too. i think that kozek could have a season to be remembered next year.

  16. A while back, someone stated that there would be one more signing, someone who could be considered a "blue chipper"......this may have been a month ago....I tried going back, but I can't seem to find it. Is this still going to happen, or are we done till next November when the early signings can begin? Anyone?

the way that you word that makes me think that it was Big A HG's comment a while back that you may be thinking of. USA hockey never said that it would be a blue chip recruit. IIRC.

  17. Maybe, for the Sioux; If everyone comes back. But if the sioux lose Oshie, Chorney, Duncan, and Finley, they'll finish in the bottom half. Guess we'll see....

I think the gophers would be more deserving of a top 10 spot over the sioux.

They'll be plenty of movement on this list before the end of August I suspect.

are you high? even if they lose those 4, i would be surprised if they are not top 5. and yes, minnesota DOES deserve a top 10. these are two teams that have the ability to make a serious run for it, and nobody but the fans of these teams are willing to throw them a bone.

  18. is und a minor league team or a 4-year university :glare: sometimes I wonder with remarks I hear from the coaches in that they even tell some players to leave for the nhl. I thought they(coaches) were to have the best interests of the program and university in mind.

the program is built by the players too. coaches need to not be selfish. sometimes a player should leave, so they dont plateau in their development.
