  1. I just got back from the North - West Fargo game and all I can say is wow. North won 3 - 0 and the story of this game was Justin Welk. North dominated the first period and got all their goals in that period. West Fargo then pretty much dominated the last two peroids. They had many chances but Welk turned all of them away. Klein also played very well. Im not sure on the shots but if North can keep playing like that they could have the potential to maybe knock a WF or maybe even Grafton out of state......

  2. So how many goals does RR need get against Grafton to be in first.

Well from my understanding when i talked to someone that was involved with the NDAHA he said it was goals differential, but someone on this thread said it was goals scored. I went to that site and couldnt find anything on it so i still think its goal differential. In that case RR would have to beat Grafton by 2 to tie South and 3 to take first. If it is goals scored RR would have to score 4 to tie and 5 to win.

  3. South and Grafton game was 6-0 and run time in the third period with 1:06 to go and Grafton scored two late goals to close the gap. Weisgarber had two goals and I think the Campbell's were shut out although they played well.

Can South ever finish a game without letting in late goals? I mean come on, 04 state championship game, Let up a goal with one second left up in Grafton earlier this year, RR last week, one against Crookston late, now against Grafton again which could make a huge difference for the 1 and 2 seed.

  4. Perhaps getting beat by Red River was a blessing in disguise. After all, they owned both GF schools last year only to be upset in the semis of the state tournament. If you're going to lose one game to a GF team, better to do it now than in the state tournament. That's not to say they can't lose again... what I am saying is that if they win state and beat Red River either in the final or semifinal, they can look back to that one loss and say it motivated them. Last year they probably went into that semifinal game with swelled heads judging by how they played that night. That's why I'm suggesting that perhaps it was a blessing in disguise.

I agree with you in the fact that it probably was a blessing MENTALLY. This year they wont overlook Red River again and probably come out strong. But it definantly wans't a blessing standing wise. They will probably finish second going into EDC unless the pump a few in against Grafton or RR loses or ties. This will mean that they will probably play Grafton instead of WF in the semis, which isn't an easy task especially at tournament time.

  5. Any predictions for tommorows games and Thursdays games, tommorows games are RR vs FN, South vs Shanely, Central vs WF, Minot vs Williston, then on Thursday, RR vs Central, South vs Grafton

    1) RR - 7 North - 1

    2) South - 10 Shanley - 0

    3) Central - 4 West Fargo - 4

    4) Williston - 3 Minot - 2

    5) RR - 5 Central - 2

    6) South - 4 Grafton - 1

  6. Did South a little bit more or what was the deal? What happened on South's goals?

Well the first goal was a pass from the corner and the South player made a nice upper corner shot. The second one was a rebound flip to the upper corner. And the third goal was a nice upper corner shot from about the hash marks.

  7. Just got back from the South-RR game and all I can say is wow. Probably the best high school hockey game I've ever seen, had everything.

I agree. This was a great hockey game. RR deserved to win, i thought they just outworked South, and were much more physical. One note though is that i think RR will be in trouble when they get back on a bigger sheet of ice with South. I think Souths speed will be too much in the open ice in those games.

  8. Minot 5 Dickinson 2

This game was very close, with the score being tied 1-1 entering the third period. Minot outshot Dickinson nearly 2-1, yet Dickinson played a very tough game from the sounds of the Dickinson paper. For some reason Dickinson always plays their best hockey against Minot. It sounded like the Minot coaches were happy to get the two points, and get the heck out of dodge.

A surprising score was Hazen over Devils Lake 8-3. After Devils Lake outplayed Grafton in a tie they go to Hazen and get beat by five goals....wow. ???

Wilbur, whats your prediction on Williston/Devils Lake tonight?

  9. Well since its Friday, and there is a good chunk of games going on this weekend I'll throw out some predictions instead of arguing about the quality of players a team has.

    Friday:

    Devils Lake over Hazen

    Jamestown over Fargo North

    Minot over Dickinson

    Saturday:

    Hazen over Bottineau

    Fargo South ties Red River

    Grafton over Wahpeton

    Devils Lake over Williston

    Bismarck high over Century

    West Fargo over Mandan

Looks pretty good except i would take North over Jamestown, South over RR, and Williston over DL

  10. Something tells me that Red River will come out on top Saturday night. I think that they will rebound nicely. After getting embarrased by Roseau 9-2, they should come out with some fire in their eyes. I say RR wins 3-1. Getting goals by Marc Mihulka, Ryan Ladouceur(PP), and Eric Meland. Souths only goal will be scored by Grant Larson.

Wow it almost seems that you've already seen the game. But if RR is to win this game it will be a 4-3 type game. I just don't see any team this year keeping South to just one goal. According to Gillen's site, South has scored 21 goals against four top-twenty teams in MN. And a total of 77 in 13 games for the season. Plus I think Eli's confidance might be a little down from getting seven goals scored on him but we will have to see and this should be a great game to watch!

  11. sounds like rosendahl may of had a bit of an off night... 7 goals on 21 shots in 2 periods , I wasnt there so i cant say for sure what his performance was like but ive heard that sophmore goalie they have is pretty good. anyone know anything about him?

I think he played on the Elite 2 team this fall and did pretty well but thats all ive heard of him.

  12. Do you think this was just a bad game for red river, or is roseau that good? I noticed on the high school hockey site that they beat bismarck high 6-0 at a holiday tournament(don't know where it was at though). So I'm assuming they're good, but did red river just have an off night or what?

Well Roseau is one of the top teams in the 2A class in section 8. They lost to Moorhead in OT a couple weeks back so that should give you a good comparison.

  13. Even though these above mentioned players have been playing good and getting a lot of mention, i think there are a lot of other players that are kind of under the radar. Ive seen most of the EDC teams play and these are the players that have been playing good and I feel should get noticed more.

    Shanley - Dietzler, Harrie

    West Fargo - Miller, Burdick

    Grafton - Hills, Miller

South - Campbell, Mcdougall, Spriggs, Wurden

    Red River - Spies, Ladoucer

    Central - Greicar, Simonson

Any comments or others that anyone would add?

  14. Saw in The Forum today that the Moorhead squirt B team won a tournament. How can they get more coverage than any Fargo or West Fargo high school team?

More coverage? When was the last time you saw a news station interviewing squirt B kids or have a picture on the front page of the sports section? There wasn't a Fargo team that played yesterday, that im aware of, and they probably needed to fill the spot with somthing.

  15. I see a low scoring, hard hitting game with the team that has the best special teams coming out on top.

I agree, but from my sources, South has given up only two pp goals this year and both coming against good MN teams. This will be a very good game but I think RR will have a tough time scoring. South wins 2 - 0.
