  1. Once and for-all.....

    1) Prep team ( Alittle down this year)

    2) Midget AAA (formally known as the Sabers ,team that played in the Minnesota Junior hockey league.)

    3) Midget AA ( This is for players with very weak skills that didn't make the A's or B's)

    4) U16 ( Some years Shattucks 2nd best team, but ussaully very young Freshman and Sophmores only)

    5)Bantam AAA teir 1

    6) Bantam teir 2

I just can't figure shanely out, they play Whapeton and have to gut out a win, then they play Shattuck tough. I'm perplexed.

They may spell it "shanely' in Grafton, but its spelled Shanley everywhere else.

  2. Junior24 I can certainly agree with on some that. Mihulka does a lot of the work that goes unnoticed. He is a real grinder and his ability to go out and play with recklass abandon makes him a prize for any team he plays on. Fair or not, Weisgarber and the Campbell's are going to look better than Mihulka simply because they have another great player to compliment their play. Maybe Marc deserves Mr. Hockey, but it's going to be tough for him to win with Weisgarber and the Cambpell's producing the points that they are. If it's any consolation to Marc, it's not the points that get you to the next level. It's the little things, that he does very well, like backchecking, finishing your check, winning battles alone the boards, chipping the puck out of the zone, and dumping the puck cross corner. If I could say one thing to Marc Mihulka right now it would be, Keep up the good work.

I do agree with you in some respects, specifics. He is very good in the corners and does a great job of finishing his checks and taking the body. Very strong.

  3. I would have to say Milhulka is the best overall player in the state. He is down in point totals but he starts the plays on a lot of RR's goals. He doesnt have another outstanding player on his line like the Cambells and Weisgarber do. He does a lot of the dirty work and is all guts no(some) glory. After seeing the Stop-o-Razi I cant think of a better candidate.

Mihulka is agood player, but I still have to go with Weisgarber. You stated that Mihulka doesn't have a great player on his line to help him. That may be true, but if I'm correct, both these guys played on the elite I team this fall, and Weisgarber was by far the leading scorer on the team and I believe in the top 5 or 6 in the entire league. Obviously, Mihulka had to have some very good linemates with him too. Like I said, Mihulka is one of the best players in the state, but not the top one.

  4. If western players deserve it they'll be included. As of now i would say Weisgarber is the favorite for Mr. Hockey. Even though the Campbell's are racking up the points, in their two biggest games so far this season against Red River and South they've been shutdown when their team needed them to step up. Does anyone know if that freshman is still playing with them because if he is, he has to be slowing them down. The Campbells each have around 30 points while he has one...

I was at the Grafton/RR game and he did start the game with the campbells, but Tanner Hills replaced him about half way through the game.

  5. A few scores from tonight :

    Fargo Shanley 5, Hazen-Beulah 4

    Devils Lake 4, Mandan 1

    Bismarck High 4, Williston 2

I heard that Michael Hillman, in net, was again the story in this one. He had 25 saves for the Demons. Williston outshot BHS, but lost the game. Bismarck High led 3-1 after 2 periods of play. Williston scored to make it 3-2 in the 3rd, but that's as close as they would get.

I still haven't heard a score from the Red River/Grafton-Park River Game or the Jamestown/Fargo North game.

    Red River 4, Grafton 1. Norht 5, Jamestown 3.

  6. Williston has more talent, but with Bismarck's goaltending who knows what will happen. I'm predicting a Williston one goal win with Hillman keeping the game close or winning it for his team. Williston is a tough (emphasize tough) place to play, and with some of the skaters they have playing on that Olympic sheet of ice I would expect them to win.

These two teams will probably be the 3 and 4 seeds from the West.

I didnt realize that they have an olympic sheet there. I agree with you that Hillman can keep them in any game, Im a little surprised Jundt hasn't produced more. I know stats dont tell the whole story, but he has some skills.

  7. Moorhead 5-2, South will put up a good fight in the first couple of periods then Moorhead will pull away.

sorrry, but i don't see south giving up 5 goals. they haven't given up more than 2 to anybody this year. Moorhead is good, but south's defense and goaltending are pretty tough.

  8. The league that merged with the NHL was the WHA not WHL. Also, Nick Klenow and Seth Fischer are his linemates both very able body atheletes. He should be producing if he is a decent player.

Ok specifics, im just wondering what it is that you make you opinons on, i mean what has Klein done to make you believe any of that? If my sources are correct Klein finished about fifth or sixth on the Elite 2 team points wise. And i believe that team took second in the final tournament, so there he was playing with good players and still finished behind four other kids who mostly play on the second lines for their teams. If Klein played for a Grafton or a South, ya he would probably produce a little and get maybe twenty to thirty points but beat out the Campbells or Weisgarber? come on

  9. To be honest... I've never heard anything about Williston having any talent, however, I have not seen them play for myself. Evidence tells me that they are not a very good team though.

I suppose the reason "West talk" gets shut down so much is because, what is good out west is USUALLY half decent out east. So any time someone mentions a "couple of good defensemen" or a "good line" from the west, that team goes and plays a team from the east and gets beat and thats the end of it. Results at state last year didn't help anything for the West.

I have nephews that play youth hockey in Minot so I don't want to totally knock the West, but it is a fact that the East dominates the state and the West usually suffers. :/

Ok i just heard that they could be pretty good this year but maybe not. Any predictions on the WF - Shanley game tonight?

  10. I've tried talking about the west on this message board, but with that comes constant belittering from posters who constantly feel the need to reiterate the fact that eastern hockey is better.

The grass is green, the sun is warm, ice is cold, and yes, in North Dakota eastern hockey is better than western hockey....

Im not trying to knock down west hockey im just wondering what is up with Williston. They have some good players, but they dont seem to be playing to the expectations that some people had.

  11. Since i havent been back to the U.S. in more than a decade i havent seen much hockey but while i was living in north dakota the west was terrible. I heard recently in the grape vine that bottineau had a good team this year could sombody tell me if this was true

Um no they are not good. They are like 8th or 9th in the West.

  12. I know noone really cares about the west from what ive read so far but is anyone else surprised that Williston isnt doing better? I mean i thought they were supposed to have a good line and a half and a couple good defensmen. And for the west thats saying alot. They were also ranked high early on.
