Have you even watched a North/South game this year?? Or in the last couple years?? South has a way better team than North does, even though North won to GPR tonight.... No offense to North, but I don't think they even have a chance against South....
I think South should win too and they have the better team. But so did Grafton.... But the question is have YOU watched a North/South game? North always shows up to play South, I believe for the last two years North and South tied their last meetings in those years even though South had the better team. Yes South has beat them like 6 - 0 (or somthing like that) twice this year but you never know what can happen in a Rivalry game, especially in the play-offs.

I think the best game of the day will be the Central/West Fargo game. Central has been playing well lately, aside from the South game and West Fargo beat Central twice by one goal each time. I might have to get there to watch that one. I do wish it was at the Ralph though, its a great place to watch hockey.

I think the Central/South game could be a good one for a couple of reasons. Although I haven't seen them play, it sounds like Central is playing some very good hockey right now. They've had some huge wins against Warroad and Grafton. It sounded like South struggled a little with North, and one of their players is out for the game tonite. Also, will playing two games in consecutive days hurt South? If so, we could be looking at a close game tonite.
I don't think playing games two nights in a row is going to make a difference. They play 3 games in 3 days in the holiday tournament and both EDC and State. If they can't handle 2 games back to back...

South 4 North 0. Typical South/North game, got pretty chippy. I thought very poorly officiated, inconsistant calls. They kinda lost control of the game. I didn't hear what the final shots were, but it was 28-8 after 2 periods.

Good post. I think a lot of people don't realize how difficult it really is to make it to the D-1 game. Just because you are a great high school player does not mean you will adapt to the Jr or College ranks. However, I feel their might be a handful of players who have the ability to play Division 3 hockey somewhere, even if not in the MIAC. South is a extremely deep team this season, and I think thats why it seems everyone else is way behind them (exception to the fact Red River, who upset South). Tough game for North today, having to play an emotional South team who needs a W to stay in the running for the 1 seed.
I agree. It is a big jump to D 1 from high school. I also think that there more players in N.D. that could play at that level, IF GIVEN THE CHANCE! That's the biggest obstacle for most of the area players. There are so many really good hockey players especially in Minnesota that it is very hard to get noticed. Unless they can compare a player against great competition, the may not want to "take a chance" on a North Dakota kid. The junior route is one way to show your skills, but you run into the same problems as D1. They look at the Minnesota kids first. Its not fair but thats the reality of the situation, although it may be getting better. With the development of the Elite leagues in Minnesota which gives ND kids a chance to play against the top players from Minnesota, they are able to show that they can play at that level. As an earlier post stated, Weisgarber led his team in scoring that included Christian from Moorhead. I believe they played on the same line. Also, Erik Galt led the defensemen in scoring .... for the WHOLE LEAGUE!!! , ahead of some D1 signees. I would assume that they are getting some looks from the Junior teams, but I don't see them being mentioned in any of the D1 recruiting threads. To me, that's disappointing. They are outperforming others on the ice, but not getting the same consideration. End of rant!

And to think we thought Central might not be at the Ralph this year. Tough break for Ross Richards' squad I bet you'll be able to hear a pin drop in their locker room tomorrow when this is announced, same for Fargo North. This guy thinks we'll see the same 4 EDC teams represented in the same seed as last year at state.
Grafton was the second seed last year, this year they will be the third.

So now with central's win over GPR does that give them the tie break over north for the 5th seed because aren't they tied in points now.
Yes Central has the tie break over north becasue they beat them twice. The only way Central could get bumped out of 5th is if North beats South, and South beats Central... but i just cant see North beating South.
If North was to beat South, with a Central loss to South and a WF loss to Jamestown, then North has the tie breaker over WF for the 4th seed. Then Central would be in 6th.
I believe this is correct but if it isnt please feel free to correct me.
One more question, does Shanley have anymore conference games?

Wow another nice win for Central. RR and South must be a little more relieved now because neither of them have to play Central first round. Too bad for WF, Central is on a hot streak right now after a disappointing start to the season.

From what I heard, A Wahpeton player shot the puck at the goal and the puck somehow ended up crossing the goalline in some manner.
No, I didn't go nor see the game, but that's usually how goals are scored.

Quit "apologizing" for your "teamates", this is a faceless/nameless site and anyone can say watever the hell they want to. Half the fun of this site is trying to figure out who is affiliated with which team so quit "outing" people.
First of all yes you can say whatever you want but if you want to keep looking like an idiot and want noone to listen to you then keep making these posts. And second who really cares where people are from, i know im not sitting here trying to figure out who is from where.

In the defense of those who said Galt didnt have great numbers as a sophomore, will someone please point out how many of the players you listed were defenseman?

I was looking at Gillen's site and decided to look at penalty minutes for the teams in the state. I was wondering if there was any coorelation between penalties and records. One would think the top teams would have less penalties than the bottom teams[more power plays and less time shorthanded]. For the most part that is true. South is the least penalized team in the East, second only to Williston in the State. Jamestown and Whapeton have the most penalty minutes. What was surprising is Red River is just behind those two. I wouldn't have thought one of the leading teams would be that highly penalized. In the west, Williston and Minot are the least penalized[kind of a change for Minot compared to last year!] Any thoughts or comments?

RR over Jamestown 4-1. Shots about 45-10. Spivey is a complete moron and should not be reffing. RR was without Spieis due to injury and lost Brown early in the game after a typical Spivey call.
