Good that we're in the running on a couple of them...visiting the school is a good sign.  Time for Berry and Co to wow them on their visits.  :)

Hopefully Dillon Simpson can use his personality to bond with these guys and convince them this is a nice place to play college hockey.

Another interesting stat about Semptimphelter: He's never been scored upon in a shootout during his college career. Semptimphelter is 13-for-13 in stopping opponent attempts.

All four shootouts came this season. He blanked Colorado College (3-for-3), Dartmouth (3-for-3), Cornell (3-for-3) and Lindenwood (4-for-4).

... and UND wasn't beaten with a lead after two periods all year, 20-0.    Guess this means that we need to use Hobie for shootouts now!  ;)

This is why I hate the portal. The non-elite teams will be harvested constantly in their fanbase will be disjointed and disconnected.

Yeah, it's like UND men's basketball, kind of hard to be totally invested when every time you develop and have good talent they take off for greener pastures.

Today's GF Herald poll is "Are you in support of a Bubba Schweigert extension?"

    https://www.grandforksherald.com/

I voted (won't say which way), and of the 1343 responses, 57% are in favor and 43% are not.

How many are actually sports fans, and how many are people that don't give a rip about sports and think it would be wrong to get rid of someone especially in something as unimportant as sports.

DU falls under my general despising of maroon and gold teams.

Which is why I don't understand how people can want them to win next week.   It is hard to recruit against them now, it will be more difficult if they keep racking up titles.  We recruit sometimes against BC and BU, but we are recruiting against Denver most of the time.

I would have rather taken a goalie that has more than a year, so Heil doesn't rush his development. I thought they would go after the other ASU goalie, Henry Levy, that didn't play but was part of the 2022-23 Penticton title team.

The point is they want a more proven commodity if they feel it could be needed to make a run.

I’m guessing how quickly he committed. Tampering.

As Schlossman said a while ago, advisors are gauging interest as early as January, so it could be a quick process, and guessing it wouldn’t be a lock at that point, even if they knew Persson was leaving. Being that TJ was injured, why commit until you know he comes back well from the injury.

I think Schlossman pointed out a long time ago that advisors were testing the waters mid season and that most had already had some idea where they wanted to go, so Sandelin’s point is common knowledge.  I think most of us think it is insane.  The thing is, it could get worse if indeed NHL teams try pushing their draft picks to certain teams.  Don’t know how you fix it at this point, as the cat is out of the bag.

Connor Ford 2.0 and Jake Schmaltz as 2 of your 4 centers aren’t winning you a national championship.

What about Berg, Boisvert, Jamernik, or Swanson and Wilkie?   Obviously we won a league championship with McLaughlin at center, but they want to clean up a few issues they had with faceoffs and puck possession late in the year.

You'd think that a player of Pohlkamp's caliber would be looking at all possible factors in selecting a school; & no doubt he's watching closely what schools are doing well in this year's tournament. Friday's third period sleep-a-pa-looza against MI may come back to seal the deal for DU.

But on the other hand if they win it all this year, and they have a mass exodus, I guess he gets all the playing time, but maybe not a favorite to repeat.  Denver may lose a lot regardless of the outcome next week. Depends on what is most important to players.

You're likely right, but if it were a slam dunk on him going there you'd think he would have already announced it & signed the necessary papers.

UND's recent playoff meltdowns aren't helping matters.

That’s the deal with Hakstol always getting the team to the Frozen Four,  North Dakota was getting a lot more exposure than all the one and dones, and you can always sell a player they could help put us over the top.

    My portal predictions:

    - UND won't be "most added from portal" this year (three, maybe four, but Merrimack is four already!)
    - the Rink Live spreadsheet will have 300+ names by May

Would think Duluth will have to grab quite a few from the portal, having lost some to the portal. The thing is you never know who is thinking of entering on UND's roster.

BU winning it wouldn't bother me that much. The others, not so much.

Yeah, and maybe if they win, we won’t have to deal with Celebrini when they come here next fall.

Oh just everything seems to lean that way. Insta following, dad worked there, all the major journalists saying MN is heavy favorite. I have no inside info, just saying it’s looking that way.

If Wood is looking for a guy that can help him put up some nice numbers, then if Blake comes back you couldn’t do much better, and maybe make a run at a title as well.

I thought our additions for 2023-2024 were solid.

I think they were more than solid.  Sometimes you have guys transferring to improve their stats for the next level, and aren’t team guys.  Don’t think UND brought in the super high end transfers like Isaac Howard, but they all came in and went to work towards a goal they didn’t quite reach.
I will look at all of them with respect though, because they did what was expected of them, and for many that meant getting in front of a slap shot.

It’s funny how guys you never expect to make an impact, play a huge role, like Sidorski last year and Britt this year.
