Yeah, the fact that he thinks it’s uniquely witty tells you all you need to know. I’d guess he’s a self-absorbed dullard.
I would think that if he had the character of the kitty, he would just break ties and move on. Instead, he had to get in one not so veiled shot. A relative seemed to like it though.

If I were TJ, I would ride off into the sunset with what health he has left, and spend his time practicing for the American Century Celebrity golf tournament. Would hate to see him get injured more and not be able to enjoy life after hockey as much. It's not like Washington is going to compete for the Stanley Cup next year.

You know why you don't do that?
A. You make enemies.
B. Someday it might be you.You never know when you need games in other sports, or maybe even conference affiliation for a move to FBS, with all the conference shifting.

Wasn't there talk about Dane Jackson joining Hakstol in Seattle when he first got the job? If so, I bet Jackson is glad he didn't go that direction. If you last 5 years in the NHL it must seem like a lifetime.

Don't kid yourself, in every sport players have a ton of leverage, especially if there are several of them. It is easier to fire one person, rather than deal with a bunch of unhappy players that aren't going to put forth maximum effort if they don't get their way. I hope Seattle goes years without making the playoffs.

Word is that some of the players said they didn't want to play for Hakstol. Other than the covid season, the last time the Flyers made the playoffs was under Hakstol, so I wonder if the same will be said of the Kraken in the next half decade. Would be interesting to know if the player discontent is due to style of play, or the Hakstol stare.

Or have a competent GM that fleeced everyone in the expansion draft.
That's the thing, no way was Seattle going to be able to do the same after every team saw the outcome the first time around. That's why I thought Seattle was doing the sensible thing by building draft capital and developing their young players. Guess we'll see if they have changed their philosophy and spend on high end offensive talent.
-
If Francis hires his buddy Dean Evason then we'll know where this came from. Will be interesting to see if he does that if they spend a ton of money to be more competitive offensively.
-
If you're going to scapegoat the coach because they haven't done what Vegas has done, at least spend the money on free agency like Vegas did.

SEA sets back development plan and goals at least two seasons.
I guess the lesson in all of this is not to overachieve early as a franchise. Gerard Gallant gets the axe early on with Vegas after overachieving and so did the Kraken. I would think with the lack of finishing ability, the Kraken would wait until they get some high end talent, which I thought was why they didn't go head on into free agency, because they wanted to progress like most new franchises do. Very odd, but I have a feeling they have someone in mind they want to install.

Is he a relative of the Horcoff that used to play for Michigan State?

Is this pretty close to where Sanford bought the south end land?

Didn’t know where to put this, but I see the 47th Avenue interstate interchange was approved. Did anyone hear what the timeline is on that project?

April 10-12 — NCAA Frozen Four (St. Louis)Some good, tough non-conf games in there with Providence, MSUM, BU, Cornell, Robert Morris, BSU (home & home), and then two exhibitions against Augustana & Manitoba.
It's scary that the Regional is in Fargo. Not a good track record recently of taking advantage of the "Home" regional. Looking at our schedule early, we could definitely be behind the eight ball after the first month and a half of the season. Maybe a good thing the HOF game isn't a destination game.

Isn't it because they are considered our "rival" pair? We always have to play them the last week, forever.
Edit: nevermind I was just informed of this new pod system. Idk then.
They probably are doing it for consistent travel near the end of the regular season, so you aren't flying half way across the country possibly two weeks in a row. Still think it needs to be changed up on a year to year basis, as I am sick of Omaha for more than one reason.

So Omac goes from 1C to playing wing next year? I know he struggled on draws and a bit in the D zone but are we certain he's not a center next year? It seems we have a ton of guys that are natural centers on the roster; Omac, Berg, Wilkie, Strinden, Jammer, Schmaltz, Boivert. I get someone is going to have to play wing just not sold it's Omac. And like others have mentioned, Strinden needs to play with more skill next year. I mentioned this for this years squad but I'd love to see a James-Strinden-Perron line. Don't think we will though.
Unless Omac works extra hard on draws, then I would think he gets moved to wing. When they are hesitant to put you on the ice down the stretch because of the inability to win key draws, and they bring in another guy that took a ton of draws, it seems they might go that direction. Would think Wilkie and Berg are locked in, and either Jamernik or Schmaltz on a line together, and I would think they give Boisvert a shot early as well to see how he does. Adding Strinden to the mix only makes it more congested at Center.

When does the schedule come out for next year? It has to be pretty soon.

Not the first time I've seen him play this season this kid is something. Vision and passing skills are top notch. He's a legit top 6 and top PP unit guy as soon as he steps foot in the Ralph.
Any thoughts on Cooper Simpson?

I'd rather a top nine (expected to score) and a grind.
DU had 11 guys with 30+ points; UND had 4.
The mindset needs to be more than "up one with 20 to play is good enough".
But to be honest, the way they were playing when they got those points wasn't conducive to winning the championship they did. They were horrible defensively early in the year, including our big comeback against them. They only scored 8 goals in 4 games in the national tournament, but they shut down the opposition pretty well, with the help of insane goaltending.
I still think we could use a high end offensive defenseman like the younger Buium, but I really like that we appear to have defensemen that can play that shutdown game. We just need to make sure we are doing that at the right time of year, as if we would have brought the same mentality we had against Denver the series in Grand Forks, we wouldn't be having the same conversation we have had for the past several seasons.

Life is cyclic.
Appreciate the good; the not-so will come.
Don't dwell on the down times; work for better.
Work for better is key. You can't just stand pat and think things are going to turn around or your cycle is going to wait as long as CC or Michigan Tech has, or worse yet become the Minnesota Vikings or Minnesota pro sports in general.
If some of the other blue bloods like Minnesota, BC and Michigan win titles, that will be the next rallying cry, "well, the Vikings haven't ever won anything"? When we recruit with the premise that expectations are high and we expect to compete for championships consistently, then in the same breath say everything is cyclical, those two don't mesh.
If everything is cyclical, then a program with the advantages of UND should hope for longer cycles of consistent success even if we don't win it all, much like under Hakstol. Still waiting for the Bison cycle to really turn downward where they don't even make the playoffs.
What is the plan to move past the first round loss cycle and missing out completely, or are they just going by the premise that we will enter a "lucky" cycle soon.
The last thing I want is a malaise to develop over the hockey program that has developed in some of our other sports where the expectation isn't even there anymore.

I think the smaller schools that keep embracing this because they don’t think they’ll host are not doing what is in the interest of college hockey as a whole, and even though I think the transfer portal is not in the best interest either, I hope the schools that keep supporting the empty regionals get what they deserve and get raided in the portal.
