  1. Didn't Fylling do the same thing? I don't think the NCAA splits hockey up into 1/2 years, he will have three years when he comes back.

Hopefully things work out and he is back next season. Personally I think he would be better off developing in GF, even if he is not playing in games. It seems to have worked out pretty well for Brad Miller.

Yes, Fylling did. And he came back like gang-busters. Sort of.

  2. I agree as well.. Paul Colontino would have been awesome right now.. too bad both there assistants left last year... Looks like Colontino is in a good place right now... maybe he will apply for this position once he wins a NCAA Championship.... can only hope right??

Colontino's Mercyherst team is #1 in the nation right now. And word out of Pennsylvania is that he's recruited an unbelievable class for next year. If he was named the next coach at UND, the Lamarouex twins would sign on the dotted line tomorrow.

  3. Is it possible, that at some point in his UND career, Joe Finley might, might, might actually hit someone. I don't care if it's with a check, his fists, a stick, or a chair, I'd like to see him hit someone. Anyone. When Oshie's the enforcer something's not right. Just my opinion.

  4. Yes, undsportsfan has made some thoughtful points. But he/she failed to "link" the racism he/she has endured to the logo or nickname. This is one thing I don't understand. Show me some direct correlation between the two. You know what I think? Some people are going to be racist regardless of the nickname. Secondly, I read with great interest undsportsfan's thoughts on the misuse of the logo. I was at the 7 Clans Casino in Thief River Falls a while back. The logo for the Casino is a representation of some sacred feathers. I know feathers to be of great importance in the Indian culture. Near the swimming pool in the water park there were many of these logos inlaid in the concrete surrounding the pool. I watched as kids and adults walked across these feathers. Dripping swim suits. Bare feet. Is this ok? Disrespectful? I never get a straight answer on this...by the way, a few posts back someone brought up Vernon Bellecourt's name...what he actually said was that any Native American who supported the Fighting Sioux nickname was a "retard". I know because I was there.

  5. I'd say it's doubtful, because attendance is expected to be poor judging by past first round games, and the fact that Winona State isn't going to make casual fans too excited. I don't believe last year's first round game against UMD was televised, either.

Last year's game with UMD was televised, but this year's first round game most likely won't. If the Sioux win, watch for the game at Omaha to be televised.

  6. Tomorrow is a court holiday so the earliest a ruling can come in would be Monday. Is this correct?

No, that's not correct. The Judge is going to release his decision via e-mail. He can do it at any time. It could come as early as today, or it could come Saturday. My best guess is early this afternoon. I was at the hearing and I feel safe in saying he will grant the injunction.

  7. I'm glad someone posted about this. I've been keeping an eye on this lawsuit all along. One thing for sure is, you won't hear anything about it from Bison fans. Not a single word. The reason being, Gene Taylor, Craig Bohl, and Tim Miles were all named in the lawsuit. In fact, the judge went as far in his decision to criticize Taylor's testimony as "not truthful". And the judge also completely dismissed the testimonies of Bohl and Miles. Let me get this straight: UND is hostile and abusive?

  8. I'm not quite sure I agree with these last two posts. I was at the game today. It is true that UND can't just "show up" and expect to win, but I was very impressed with Western Washington. They were a very physical team. Very much like most NCC teams of the past. QB was good, RB was a nice mix of power and speed. He ran over more than on would-be tackler. And a couple of nice receivers. They threw in a couple of trick plays that worked, and one that didn't (ill-advised fake punt that a real feel of desperation to it. If they punt it away there, they have a real shot at winning.) Lennon will use this game to teach. UND will be ok and WW will not embarrass itself this year.

  9. I noticed the article said he'd be Johnson's backup, but when? Would it be right away on opening week? A lot of new offense to learn.

He has been running a very similar version of the West Coast offense in NY. Also, the Vikings offensive coordinator is an ex-Wisconsin offensive coach. Shouldn't take too much of an adjustment. He's a better back-up than Mike McMahon. And a good insurance policy until Tavaris Jackson is ready to play in a couple of years.

  10. Yeah, my first thought when I saw him was, 'Cancer or gastric bypass?'. He's lost at least 150 pounds since the last time I saw him which was at last years Frozen Four in Columbus.

He had GP about a year ago.

  11. Why would it be the undoing of Chapman?

Chapman's actions began in 2005 during the legislative session. Everyone in the know knew he was there and the SBOHE chose not to reprimand him.

They picked Chapman over Potts when all the latter was trying to do was his job.

If anything the SBOHE is a co-conspirator.

I'm wondering what you would be saying if Kupchella was the president in question and not Chapman. Would you be saying the same thing?

  12. While it's on my property and living in my garage, it's either a ground squirrel or a flickertail. I'd never rent to a gopher. ;)

I noticed that in pictures of true gophers, they were ugly compared to the creature in my garage. True gophers have big claws, too.

But nobody's answered this question: why is it living in my garage?

If your wife took pictures of me and your kids gave me peanut butter toast, I'd live in your garage too.

  13. Kupchella did a pretty good job. I thought the best point he made was, if for some reason Florida State University played a post-season game at UND, UND would not be allowed to use any of it's Fighting Sioux imagery, but the Seminoles could bring in the white guy on the horse dressed as an Indian, the spear, the tomahawk chop, etc, etc.

  14. Absolutely, 100% right on the money.

It is complete and utter lunacy at this point to officially announce a move to D-I and then not really do it for another year. I guess it's par for the course with the leadership that is at this university right now. ???

I disagree with you, 100%. This leadership, which has taken its fair share of criticisms, is making a move that very, very few people ever thought they'd make. I applaud them for this. The extra year will allow them to get everything in order.
