  1. That's an interesting quote from the recruit. Apparently UND coaches are telling recruits the outdoor stadium with a retractible roof is a done deal. Do you suppose they are also telling them that the Big 12 and Big 10 are fighting over them and they will be joining one of those conferences?

This is such a stupid post, it's hard to know where to begin. Not only are UND coaches NOT saying this, what the hell difference would it make to this particular recruit anyway? IF the stadium is built, the best case scenario is 15-20 years down the road. nd1sufan, please return to bisonville and continue posting under the name "Mr. Burgundy", where you started a smack-filled thread of your own.

  2. I see that Italian Moon has the games on this weekend. Any idea what channel this might be? Anywhere else have it on? Fun to eat at the Moon but hard to get your drink on, if you know what I mean.

  3. If Toews, or Parise, or Vanek, etc. used their platform to discuss WCHA officiating, I think you would quickly see some positive changes. And it wouldn't take a lot. I'm thinking a local college hockey beat writer from either the Herald or the Star Tribune could make a couple of phone calls. Actually I'm surprised that this hasn't been done yet.

  4. So if UND decides to change the name you think there will still be protesters since it will take a while to take all the Sioux logos out of the Ralph?? Also i haven't heard much media for the swastika incidents, now if someone spray painted a Sioux logo on their campus there would really be hell to pay, FNC, and CNN would be on campus.

I'm glad you asked! The reason you haven't heard much about it is because the officials at St. Cloud State have decided not to release any more details to the media concerning the hate crimes and swastikas. They feel the attention is promoting a "copy-cat" effect. I am not making this up.

  5. Funny how the protesters at St.Clown U only came out for the Friday night hockey game to protest. None were found on Saturday nor were any present last night (Thursday) at the basketball games when the Sioux were in town. ;) They must really be passionate for this cause to only come to one event. Our basketball fans felt bad that they weren't screamed at after driving all the way from GF.

They have very limited Protesting Time. The majority of their time is spent removing swastikas from the walls of the university.

  6. This has actually been the Caps' gameplan since before the strike. Remember that just before the strike, the yhad a firesale, shedding all of their top talent and salaries. That was part of a shift toward trying to build talent instead of acquire it. Some may have misinterpreted their mediocrity the last couple years as unwillingness to spend money, but they actually have the money -- they had the 2nd highest payroll prestrike -- they just decided spending it on trying to buy stars wasn't working for them or the Rangers.

Though the Caps certainly aren't yet living up to the potential of the talent they have, they are 11-6-4 since Bruce took over as head coach (if only they hadn't started in a 7-14-1 hole). My biggest fear is that its taking enough seasons to develop the offense that we may need a replacement for Kolzig by the time the offense is playoff-worthy again.

    Jim,

I'm going to assume that you've attended a few Caps games. How would you characterize their fan base? Knowledgable? Passive? Astute? I just can't see them being very passionate.

  7. I met the first candidate today, Robert Kelley. I'm going out on a limb and saying he's the next President of UND. Very straight shooter, down to earth, humorous. And the best part: he's a very firm believer in athletics' role at a University.

  8. Feel free to come on over to Bisonsports.net. We have a couple UND posters that are treated quite well.

Even JBB had this to say (paraphrasing):

"the state of North Dakota is lucky to have two fine institutions such as NDSU and UND".

No thanks. JBB might be the most offensive poster in the history of the internets.

  9. Sorry to correct you Redwing, but as per the settlement, the ncaa had to make a statement that the nickname and logo were not hostile and abusive. As I read the settlement document, it does not state that the nickname and logo becomes H and A again if they do not get Sioux tribe approval.

  10. I've seen the ratings as well. Cold hard facts. And instead of blaming the ridiculous time slot for the Bohl show (10:30 a.m Sunday) or the inept station (kx4, or whatever they are called now), or the horrible Phil Hansen on LIVE tv, the Bison faithful are attacking the numbers as wrong, false, inflated, deflated, inaccurate, deceiving, etc. etc.

  11. Well then get the press in your town to get this stuff right the first time. Now I find out they were stuck in an elevator and pissed on the floor and there was no fight, come on, time to let it go man. Maybe the sports writers need a free trip to Siberia.

This was never, ever reported anywhere. Why would you make this kind of crap up? You might consider staying in the shallow end.

  12. Go ahead and laugh at Bohl when he made twice what Lennon made at UND and he still has a package worth around 200K with a pubic statement from the AD that he wants to make him one of the 3 highest in the FCS.

You are a real homer if you can lose your head coach (and key assistants) and turn it into a postive. The bottom line is we still have our head coach while you guys have to start over from scratch.

gabe, gabe, gabe. I think it was meant as light hearted jab. Yes, we know, Coach Bohl is a good coach. But please, please, do not make statements such as "starting over from scratch." Get a grip.
