USA Hockey does a pretty good job governing youth hockey except for the accountability portion concerning grades, conduct outside of the rink etc...  Sure organizations can impose rules concerning this matter but it's not as simple as one might think due to USA Hockey's bylaw #10.  In short to suspend a player for example grades or conduct, they must be offered a hearing first with parent/guardian, player, and designated club staff.  I see clubs that have grade policies in place but am not certain if they are following this rule.  I'm also not certain how often schools of NDHSAA sanctioned teams/participants check grades, weekly?  I think this would be quite difficult to do under USA Hockey on a weekly basis.  If a player's conduct and/or actions are deemed an immediate threat or of an extremely egregious nature they can be summarily suspended.   USA Hockey advises to only use this route in extreme circumstances.

I do agree, there is more accountability in athletics sanctioned by schools, however let's take a look at a typical youth basketball season in ND.  It's relatively short compared to a youth hockey season.  Upon conclusion of the basketball season teams pop up all over the state.  Some even have tryouts.  I'm sure they  have coaches with zero coaching education, no sanctioning body, no safe-sport that I'm aware of, and so on.  It's basically a free-for-all !@#$ show, kind of like summer AAA hockey, except at least that's confined to a shorter amount of time due to a typical USA Hockey sanctioned youth hockey season.

So I have to ask myself this question, if youth hockey was sanctioned through schools would the seasons be shorter allowing even more time for unsanctioned hockey?  I think that is exactly what would happen.

I have to disagree, the year round play is probably my biggest beef with the club teams.   Specializing in one sport at the middle school and high school level is extremely detrimental to the athlete and has little to no benefits for their development in the sport their specializing.   We don't need these kids playing 100 basketball and hockey games a year.   They should be competing in different sports during the offseason and developing different muscle groups.  If they don't have a fall, spring, or winter sport then they should be in the weight room getting their bodies stronger. Study after study has shown this but collectively youth and high school basketball and hockey coaches have decided to just disregard that information.  I have to admit I do not have any experience regarding youth hockey but it's frustrating watching kids who play 100 basketball games a year that are unable to make or even create a mid-range jumpshot for themselves.

  2. Hockey and basketball and most other youth sports in general would be much better off if the club and AAU teams went by the wayside and were brought back into the schools.   The intense specialization ruins kids athleticism and has led to a significant increase in injuries while contributing to horrible behavior by players and parents.

GF area legislator was on the line - sorry can't remember the name. Legislators are in Bismarck for orientation/ organization session. Apparently lots of "chatter in the hallways" on the topic (as well as the similar 'SU incident). One comment heard by the caller was that higher ed is already over-funded. He implied that this incident could possibly initiate talks regarding future funding.

Obviously, no decisions, just chatter. But serious chatter by people that actually hold some cards.

Perhaps those legislators need to be named since cutting funding for the states two largest universities because players on their sporting teams kneeled for the anthem would be a ridiculous overreaction.

Can’t vote without knowing the full ticket.  The D’s have done a good job locking their candidate in the basement.  Can’t do that until November.  His voting base may want to know where he stands on these important protest topics before they decide to vote.  Easy to stay popular when you don’t have to attempt to form complete sentences explaining your stance on different topics.

Biden hasn't been locked in a basement despite what Fox News and Breitbart would tell you.  He's been doing events almost daily.  They aren't huge rallies like Trump since those are irresponsible given Covid and he doesn't need those types of events to satisfy his wounded, fragile ego like Trump does.

Perhaps Trump will turn his electoral chances around but I really don't see how purposefully ignoring the largest public health crisis in a 100 years and allowing Russia to put bounties on the heads of US soldiers  are going to help endear him to the 60% of Americans who can't stand the man.

Nobody is telling me to wear a mask at home or in my car, but when I drive around and get outside, people are doing it in Fargo. A bunch of sheep/idiots.

How do you know people are wearing masks in their own homes just by driving around in Fargo?

Care to comment on that “story” being completely made up BS by the media?
Or will you just ignore my question, like you have every other time that I’ve pointed out your stories are fiction?

That story certainly isn't "BS by the media"..... it's been confirmed by multiple news outlets both foreign and domestic.   I'd be curious what source you have that makes it BS other than Trump tweeting that he wasn't briefed about it.

Wasn’t this about the same time Democratic leadership was accusing him of manufacturing a crisis to serve as a distraction?  Should he have told everyone to panic and freak out?  I can only imagine the Democrat response if he had.

Any comment on Traitor Trump selling out our soldiers to Putin?   He's an absolute disgrace for a human being and the worst president in our history.

What is every war about? Money. International Tariffs to be specific.  You think all these southern white boys went to war to fight for the right for rich plantation owners to keep their slaves?

Most didn't.... the Confederate Army had an extremely high desertion rate which is why it spent most of the war losing battles on it's own territory.  They also had frequent food shortages because southern plantation owners couldn't be persuaded to grow food crops to feed the troops that were leading the war effort instead of cotton and tobacco.

Keep beating that drum in between combing thru death certificates to up the "died of Corona" total.

Look forward to the "experts" recommendations to lockdown the country again in mid October.....but we will let the protesting and rioting go on indefinitely.

It's absolutely shocking that they let you practice medicine

I just don’t understand the activist culture. Are people that bored and unhappy?

I exhaust my brain 50 hours/week with work, handle chores around the house, manage kids’ activities, Ensure the family is healthy and happy, have a couple drinks...wash, rinse, repeat.

don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, but Who has time to worry about confederate generals or the tweet of the day, let alone some massive movement?

I’ll tell you what- the BLM movement had me on board a couple weeks ago.  Not so much anymore- the hijacking of other causes and lunacy has completely taken away from the issue that got us all thinking about racism and bad cops.

You vastly overestimate the amount of time required for activism.   There are plenty of people with productive jobs, kids, etc. who have time to participate in activist activities.  It's actually much more productive then anonymously complaining on a message board but I digress.

Also just as an aside, you really can't spend 2 days lambasting "losers" and "participation trophies" and then defend statues to Confederate generals.  Those statues are the ultimate in participation trophies.

Another day, another soft kid crying to the sky leveraging Twitter and a hashtag for justice. Good lord! (Can I say that here?) I never knew Twitter in 2020 would be the future judicial system. What a time to be alive (a depressing and embarrassing time).

Sigh... he's the best player on his team and one of the best players in all of college football and he called out his coach for supporting an openly racist organization (OAN).   He's certainly not a "soft kid" by any stretch of the imagination.

Fact check states this false info started from Sudafed seen on office shelf. Was determined to be false. Falsely accusing someone of drug addiction can cost a person their job or get the accuser sued. In this case, neither will happen. I may not care for Trump, but I find this type of dishonesty despicable. What the hell is the matter with you?

    Please spare me your sanctimony.

Just in the last two weeks, Trump has falsely accused a media correspondent who was critical of him of murdering a woman and falsely accused a 75 year old man of being a member of Antifa and using his cell phone to jam police equipment.  In the case of the 75 year old, the man is currently recovering from a nearly fatal head injury and is now experiencing significant harassment and death threats because the President of the United States used his considerable platform to slander the man.

Let's not forget that Trump's rise in political prominence began with him slandering the previous president with the racist smear that he wasn't a U.S. citizen despite all evidence to the contrary.

If you voted for him then you're obviously OK with all of this and you certainly don't find dishonesty despicable.

President Trump doesn't use drugs, he had a family member to alcohol.  He also doesn't drink either.

His addictions to meth, Adderall and cocaine are well documented by first hand accounts from the writers and cast members of The Apprentice.   I don't think you'll find it on his campaign website however.

Feel free to find that "prediction" you claim I made and I'll respond to it.

BTW when your done wiping Walz's ass ask him if he's still clinging to the 22000 death model.

You're kidding right?  The first 50 pages of this thread are you claiming how this will kill less than the seasonal flu (roughly 60K) this year until the death toll flew past the seasonal flu.

"African Americans have a greater proportion of jobs that don't allow them to sit in front of a computer and do telework. They're out there. They're doing a lot of things physically where you have to interact".  ~Dr. Fauci

So he can not be a "reliable" expert in his field so he delves into the racial aspect. Again he needs to go away. His opinion on anything right now is on par Alyssa Milano.

BTW.... as far as referring to "jobs" and "doing a lot of things physically where you have to interact" I assume he's overlooking the protesting, looting and rioting these people are participating in?

The deaths from Covid are approaching 115K after a little over three months of the virus being active in the US.  This is despite an unprecedented shutdown of the US economy.  Your prediction was less than 60K.  Please explain why you were so far off?  You've held yourself out as an expert on this website so I'm guessing you'll have no problems explaining where your prediction went wrong.

The media won’t make him answer questions more than 2-3 minutes at a time.  We are in the midst of a huge conversation on race in America, and Biden hasn’t had to address his “not black” comment that would be interpreted as racist had other people said it. I’m convinced if he made that statement in a debate it would only have lasted the same one day news cycle.

The idea that Biden is in cognitive decline compared to Trump is laughable.  I think it's likely Trump refuses to debate.   An hour long debate would clearly expose Trump's cognitive incapability and drug abuse.  Also, I really doubt he has the stamina to stand that long since he's at least 350lbs if not larger.

    How'd that work for Hillary?

Hillary was never up by this much in national polling nor competitive in as many states as Biden is right now and Trump still only scabbed out a fluky win.   That being said, a lot can change by the election time.  Who knows maybe Trump can turn the corner if he picks enough Twitter fights with Republican Senators and retired generals.

You still don't get it.  The Dems had a better chance of beating Trump before the Covid overreaction and now the civil unrest which they've seized as another opportunity to divide.  Just like last election, there is a large but mostly silent majority that doesn't drink the Trump Kool aid, but they recognize that he's the better option than what the Dems are throwing out there (again).  It's not just crusty old white conservatives either.  There are plenty of people of color who have carved out nice little lives for themselves that are pissed off at the collateral damage that they have felt due to the Covid overreaction.  Also, for every 1 person advocating for defunding the police, there are thousands that live in neighborhoods where a patrol car passing through every hour is the only thing that keeps pure chaos from breaking out.

Trump is losing to Biden by between 7-11 points nationally and is neck and neck in states like Texas, Georgia and Arizona.  Feel free to continue your ongoing argument with reality.

Yep snowflake culture...open borders, rigged elections, de-fund police depts,  I can be whatever sex I want to be, no freedom of speech, free !@#$ for parasites. Sorry...count me out.

Too bad for you that Bunkerboy's goose is cooked.....  Trump is looking at a landslide loss on election day.  Democrats will be in charge of all three branches next January and can start cleaning up the mess left for them by Trump's corruption and incompetence. Trump has a better shot of winding up in prison by 2024 than he does of still being president.

I agree that Trump doesn't exactly exude biblical qualities, but what does it tell you that many people of faith still begrudgingly support him?   Hey, if there was another choice of someone that could unify that still held to the constitution and religious freedoms, I am sure many would jump on board.  Many consider him the lesser of two evils.   It seems many with a liberal slant think that churches are so far from essential that they could stay closed until the second coming.

It tells me that many people of faith that support him are not at all sincere in the moral values that their pretending to espouse and thus any criticisms they have regarding the morality of others no longer to deserve to be taken seriously.

Sorry, I'm not even sure what this astute comment is suppose to mean. But then I went to Trump University so I'm not nearly as smart as you, 'cuz you obviously have all the answers.                   And usually I have more than just one Cheeto.

You see Oxbow is attacking for you for posting on this website since you're a lazy, no good Cheeto eating liberal.  Nevermind that he and a few of his camp followers (MafiaMan) are seemingly on here 24/7.  They are true keyboard warriors fighting the good fight against evil liberals while also holding down highly important positions that afford them the luxury of posting hundreds of posts on a website daily.
