  1. I just want to start off by saying i'm sorry that two of our Jv players on here are making a fool of our team ( Junior24) and (Ndhockey_1) this is definatly not how our team feels, I just thought I'd let you know that those two have been warned by the coaching staff to stop posting on here. (hopefully they will listen to them or they risk suspension from the team). I just wanted to clear the air and try help clean up the reputation of the Red river hockey team.

I can't say i'm surprised to hear this... Thats too bad that a someone would have to come on here and apoligize for the actions of two ankle bitters. You two should be ashamed of yourselves.

  2. During the JV game there was a confrontation between a cocky 19 for RR and a I tihnk it was 5 for Minot. 19 ran his mouth the entire game. he was pulled out of the shaking of the hangs along with 5 and both were given 10 minute misconducts. COurse this wont affect their play, but it should be noted that an instance occured, and the officials did the right thing in this situation.

As far as the taunting goes. Classic West teams running their mouth's again. Liek Schmidt running his mouth and tell the refs they are messing up because his dad and uncle are/were the "big time."

Good luck to all teams however in State and regionals.

  3. Well for one thing i have nothing to do with the RR hockey team. You say they are not that good, they are both putting up stats similar to Galts sophomoer year, or did Galt see much PT as a sophomoer? I think you can find a lot of people who KNOW both Galbreath and LaDoucer are better players than Swanson, including every coach and player that has played agaist all of these. Both Galbreath and LaDoucer have participated in Festivals and have done very well.]Galbreath did turn down offers to leave his sophomoer season[/font]. both have played elite league both have been invitded to USHL and Junior A tryouts. On the Eli Rosendahl note, i dont know what ticked you off. Noone said anythign about him moving on to the next level, and nor does he have any intentions to. You say he isnt a Lameroux, Walski, Ziggleman; I agree 100% and noone sais he was.

You obviously know nothing about high school hockey and watch very little if any. Also, noone said anything about them being drafted in early rounds of the NHL draft or being the next crosby.

    Leave to where?

  4. Actually that big defensmen from the Minot JV team was pulled from the line as they were shaking hands and told to get off the ice. Also, during the varsity game Minot JV players came and sat near the RR JV team and they were running there mouth. They were quickly shut up when they realized they lost 4-1.

As stated before RR dominated the second half of the first and whole second period. They came out very flat in the third and Minot capitalized on there odd man rush, and point blank oppertunities. The more i watch LaDoucer and Galbreath the more amazed I am with how good they are. Hope to see them in a Sioux Uniform in a few years.

I think there are bigger battles on the home front. i.e: Being the starting D on a team that let in 4 goals to a West team. I'd say solve that before they apply for early entry into the NHL draft.

Point of Reference: being as your an extra/ JV player, I feel it is unacceptable rip on your opposition as they are rather defenseless in this situation.

  5. Anyone got any scores to report from tonights games?

A little recap of the game last night GPR-6 WF-0. GPR's powerplay was impressive, One good note for Spoiler fans lots of players were getting into the scoring. I took off after the 2nd period, because it was already 6-0. Somthing I heard from my employees that stayed, was the 3rd period got chippy, apparently a few of the Wf players tried to show thier toughness. I wasn't impressed when I heard this but since, I wasn't thier for the third period I can't elaborate on specifics. All in all it was nice to see the home town team enjoy some success.

  6. This is an excellent post. We can talk about Kringstad, Deichert, and Rosendahl all we want, but not even Marty Broduer could save a team like Wahpeton. Its a sad fact that a goalie on a poor team will never win Mr. Hockey. They could be the best goaltender in the state, yet their numbers wouldn't show it.

I believe Jamestown had a goalie win the award a while back, I don't recall the name of the goalie or how good/bad that team was though, but I can't imagine they were real solid.

  7. From what I hear, Spies pulled a muscle in his chest. He could've played (albeit in pain), but they didn't want to take any chances on him getting hurt against Jamestown.

You seem to know details only a player, team personnel or maybe a family member of a RR player would know. Either way discussing player injuries is not a good idea.

  8. South and Grafton game was 6-0 and run time in the third period with 1:06 to go and Grafton scored two late goals to close the gap. Weisgarber had two goals and I think the Campbell's were shut out although they played well.

One of my better workers lost his composer on the job, so I being the owner of the company had to fix his mistakes, long story short, i didn't get down to this game but when I heard the score I can't say I was too happy, But some of the players stopped by the shop and we chatted/ate some freshly baked pastries. They didn't seem all that dissapointed, The common answer from all of the players was, we are learning from those mistakes and its making us stronger.

  9. Im sure this is the last thing that Shanley wanted to happen - South lose their first game right before they play them. My bet is that South is going to be pretty fired up and i would expect to see running time in the third period.

When Shanley played the spoilers, They tried to just keep it close by packing it in tight and allowing alot of perimeter shots. They have a few wide bodies on thier team that don't move real well, so they plant them in front of the net to box out. ( Very similiar to a Whapeton or Jamestown).

  10. Wisconsin falls to 5-2 all-time against North Dakota State. That is a big win for NDSU it shows that they can play.

Another solid game from Ben Woodside.... Who is in my opinion a top 20 player in the country. I think this shows that if he can stay out of foul trouble ( which he didn't do agianst Minnesota) they can beat almost anybody.

  11. In some cases, numbers do not provide proof of who is good or not, but in this case it does. Four players who are called by some to be some of the top players in the state should be leading their team to victories. Its not like they're all playing on seperate lines with a bunch of kids who cant skate. I don't know North's exact line combinations, but if two out of three kids on the line are either Klein, Klenow, Bombenger, or Fischer, then they should be producing something that resembles an offense, which they clearly have not. I'm sure these kids are talented players (not great, great players make people around them better) and I did nothing to question their character. My guess is that 95% of the people who post on this board played sports in high school, which would then constitue playing in front of a crowd. My point is this- these players have done nothing to show me that they are top level players in the state of North Dakota. Top level players lead their teams to victories against teams that aren't terrible. Winning games includes one key element- scoring goals. To show my point (and using ND Pride's method) I went through and looked at everyone's goals scored statistic, throwing out the highest single game total. And you know what I found? North is tied for fewest goals in the state in non-Wahpeton games (19). I'm not calling them bad players, I'm just showing you the reason why I think that these players are nothing special and should not be talked about as being tops in the state.

And as for the question of them making the tournament and select teams every year I ask this - If they are so good to be making these teams every year, why is North 4-10 and they are producing very little?

PS- And just for fun, why dont you (ND Pride) start putting YOUR name at the end of posts, to show everyone where you're coming from.

    - All NDPride is saying is that if your going to rip people you might as well state your name so you don't look like a coward. ( I personally have alot of respect for how Ndpride conducts himself on this site).

    - Just because he has a 41 in his name doesn't make him tanner bombenger, I do on the other hand figure he is either a north player or parent of a player, as he knows way to much knowledge of things only team personell or parents of players would know of.

-Ouch, North sqweaks by Whapeton 6-3

    - on the other hand..... GF Central has a Whopping 0 players averaging over a point a game. (Curious how the GF hopeful counter this one.)

-I just thought I'd give both sides of the story as I feel I am the only un-biased person on this thread.

  12. with grafton winning the region looks like there is a big gap between the top 3 teams and the rest battling for the 4th spot. it should be interesting to see who gets that last spot for state. South had 52 more shots against Crookston and scored 3. goalies want to play south so they can increase their save percentage and their stock with onlookers.

Disclaimer.... Please re -read your posts before you submit them to lessen the likely hood of you looking like a fool.

It's nice to see the boys regroup after that dissapointing tie to devils lake.

  13. I wish my first post didn't have to be on a negative subject but since no one else wants to defend Tyler Klein from these bashings, I suppose I will.

As a sophomore Tyler had 22 goals. That mark was 3rd best in the state for goals. Was that a fluke? I don't see how scoring 22 goals can be a fluke. Is his production this season a fluke? I'd say so. North is no better than they were last year, so it's hard to say the table has been titled in Tyler's favor for point production. From my observation Tyler wants to play hockey at the next level, and playing against Wahpeton isn't going to help him get there. I doubt he looks forward to playing against a team thats only option to stop him is to trip him or give him a cheap shot. I could be wrong. Maybe you know him personally and he is out for the goals and the glory, and could care less about his teams W/L's. I doubt it though.

I was able to work with Klenow at a hockey camp this summer and I only have a few things in his defense. Apparently he popped his jersey at the crowd? This doesn't surprise me, being that the only person he talked about all week was Danny Irmen (original jersey popper). After talking to some parents I learned it wasn't as big of deal as some made it. Unlike Danny, Klenow popped his jersey at the North fans. Thats about all I can think of. He is pretty assertive and I'm sure if he catches word of this he'll come defend himself.

If they do see this- Keep working. Everything will fall into place.

    Alum05 your without spine!!!!!

On the other hand, You say that him scoring 22 goals was no fluke... if you were right I would have reason to believe he would have more the 6 points at this point in the season.

  14. Does anyone know the plans of Tom or Paul Campbell next year? X2theZ, I know you have ties with Grafton. Any word on what they are going to do next year?

Well Jack, I've had the pleasure to watch these kids grow up.....I moved away about Six years ago to get my MBA from NYU then I started a business in Omaha, which I later sold so I could move back to Grafton the place I grew up and the place I love. Moral of the story..... Regardless of what they decide to do after high school, I'm sure they will be back here, because frankly everyone loves grafton. Be Patient Jack..... I'll find out next time they swing by my shop.

  15. Goalie stats, forward stats, defenseman stats, etc. are only an arrow in the direction of how someone plays. It's the team that gets players 70 points or a goalie a 1.87 GAA. Nothing against any of those goalies that are on top ranked teams but, put them on Wahpeton's roster or Devil's Lake even. I doubt we would be singing such praises for them if they werent on a top 2-3 team. Obviously these are extreme case examples. Let's say Tom Campell plays for North. Great player, but I doubt he hits 25 point this early in the season with that team. At this point in time I can't say I've seen or heard of Diechert or Rosendahl winning a game for their team that they should not have. Maybe I'm wrong. But Hillman has kept his team in games that Bismarck should never have been in.

Here's two Great Questions you need to ask when talking about Mr. Hockey..... What was his work ethic like this summer? Was he surpassed by a forward with more drive to get the next level? Maybe. Maybe not.

  16. While you might be right on everything else(I honestly don't know) there are more then 3 teams. There is 1)Prep 2)U-16 3)Midget AAA(the team that shanley played) 4)Midget AAA 5)Midget AA 6)Bantam Tier I 7)Bantam Tier II. And I believe the talent level is in the order I just listed. I'm not putting anything against Shanley because I haven't seen them play, and it IS shattuck, so there must be some talent. I'm just saying that it is nowhere close to shattuck's prep team that they played.

    Once and for-all.....

    1) Prep team ( Alittle down this year)

    2) Midget AAA (formally known as the Sabers ,team that played in the Minnesota Junior hockey league.)

    3) Midget AA ( This is for players with very weak skills that didn't make the A's or B's)

    4) U16 ( Some years Shattucks 2nd best team, but ussaully very young Freshman and Sophmores only)

    5)Bantam AAA teir 1

    6) Bantam teir 2

I just can't figure shanely out, they play Whapeton and have to gut out a win, then they play Shattuck tough. I'm perplexed.

  17. I was at the game last night. After the way the first 7 minutes went I thought we'd have to start playing in hell because it look as if it was gonna freeze over. In all seriousness Shanley did run all 3 lines consistently last night, in previous games the 3rd line would be lucky to see more than 2 shifts a period. Shanley controlled play for most of the night, it seemed like they came out a little too high on their horse which is expected playing a team of Wahpeton's caliber. I just don't get why when we play Wahpeton close everyone decides to pile on. I didn't hear anybody bashing Jamestown when they eeked out a 6-5 win or WF when they beat Wahpeton the same way. I guess we don't mind the programs who have been around for 25 years but expect Shanley who is still in its infancy to run away with the game. Shanley has a group of kids who work very hard and chose to stick this thing out and there was not a better sight I can remember then the smiles on their faces coming out of the locker room after beating Grand Forks Central. As long as the coaching staff stays there our program will continue to grow as long as SOME people don't try to cut their legs out from under them as soon as they don't WIN by enough. Sorry for this rant.

Your very right, Wf only beating whapeton 5-3 is pathetic, but since there funding is going to be cut because marc mihulka pulled the stop o razi on them its understandable. Jamestown is pathetic 95 % of the time, i.e all of there games except agianst the spoilers. Maybe I just expected more out of shanely after seeing them beat GFC in over time.

  18. My nephew called me laughing with this news......Shanely over whapeton 5-3, Shanely apparently was losing 2-0 at some point in the game. One of Shanelys goals was an empty netter also. My question is for anyone who attended this game... Was it really this close? Also does this concern any of the shanely hopful?

  19. May I add that Mihulka also pulled off the stop-o-razi on Nate Ziggelman (currently backup goaltender at Minn-Duluth) during the legends game that RR held over Christmas break.

The point i'm trying to make is that, for you to come in from that sharp of an angle stop wait a second for the goalie to get out of the way then put the puck in the net, and remain on touched is quite pathetic on the part of the other team (Defense). I'm curious as to where the other team is during this cherad. This is not intended to be a knock on mihulka or his move.

  20. I would have to say Milhulka is the best overall player in the state. He is down in point totals but he starts the plays on a lot of RR's goals. He doesnt have another outstanding player on his line like the Cambells and Weisgarber do. He does a lot of the dirty work and is all guts no(some) glory. After seeing the Stop-o-Razi I cant think of a better candidate.

I've been trying to figure this out.... How freakishly bad does a team need to suck for an opposing player to completly stop in front of their goalie wait till the goalie slids out of the way then put the puck into the net while not being touched by a single player. This is not a knock on mihulka, it's a knock on the absolutly brutal competition he must have been playing agianst. I say a new rule should be made that any team that gets the stop-o-razi pulled on them should get their funding completly ripped away.
