Lives-to... 's presence and posts bring up a philosophical question about the board. Is it only about agreeing with the members of the club, or should someone be allowed to be open with their opinions, even if they're negative? Personally, I'm in favor of people presenting dissenting viewpoints, although I sometimes withhold my negative thoughts in light of the fact that the players on the team are generally good kids in an extremely demanding environment, trying their best.
So I don't mind Lives-to... posting here. I do, however, think some of his/her opinions are completely wrong. He/she lost me when a discussion of Finley included a comment about the coaches likely helping Smaby pack his bags because he was such a liability. Now that's a laugh. With the possible exception of Parise, Smaby was this team's biggest offseason loss. He f'in killed people every game, and that presence does not exist this year. I learned then to take Lives-to... with a grain of salt.
I at first thought what he posts is flat-out ridiculus also and then I actually thought back and although he seems to take it way over board, he makes some interesting points, I think he might need to tone down some of the stuff he says, but I don't mind reading his stuff. I think the key like JK said is take it with a grain of salt.

The team used to be alright? Paul Weisgarber (USHL), Erik Galt (USHL/NAHL), Jeff Foss (USHL), Jordy Christian (USHL/St. Cloud), Marc Harrie (NAHL). How do you figure a team with those guys is just decent? I think everyone in here would agree you seem like a high school student and probably a hockey player. Did you play Elite 2 last year and know the quality is down? Or did you play Elite one like Paul, Erick, Andy, Jake, Nick, Jeff, And Jordy did the year after there season with Elite 2?
This last years elite 2 team has players on JV and a bunch of very average players.

No they dont have a 60 point guy this year but they do have about 6 or 7 guys that will score 30 or more points. And if you were watching the South GPR game you would have noticed that 5 on 5 GPR had an edge and how could you say they werent nice goals. a one timer and a top shelf backhand. come on buddy..
You could be the stupidest person on this board. READ YOUR POST what do you think I was refering to. GPR's goals or SOUTH"S goals. Please apoligize to all of us.

GPR isnt has bad as you think at D. Ryan Hills and Peterson looked good. Feltman got much better as the game went on Paulson and Mccann werent terrible. As far as reloading i think they proved they did reload last night. Being on penalty kill the whole game they still managed 22 shots that tied South. Both goals by GPR were made by sophmores. There best line was there sophmore line. Miller and Tanner Hills had terrible games and will get it going soon and will put up nice numbers. And yeah Sand let in a couple not so good goals but also made so really big saves he will only get better. GPR dressed something like 11 sophmores and what did South have one i think. Again shots 22-22. Just give it time..

O, sorry they did reload. I mean their team sprung right back to where it ended last year. Their offense is down their Defense is down and their goaltending is way down. What makes you think the reloaded?

I was also at the GPR South game last night. Grafton is definately not down this year but they do have a few week points on their team. In the first period their goalie looked decent and he managed to make the saves. Grafton's D isn't the greatest but they are a very young, as is the whole team. Grafton seemed to take a lot more penalties than South but Grafton seemed to kill off many of them including two 5 on 3s. Graftons top 2 lines are very fast and will produce many goals. On the other hand, South is very big and they have good defenseman. South's powerplay seemed a little shaky at first but as Grafton kept taking penalties South's powerplay looked better. South will be a very good team this year and I look forward to seeing these two teams play again.
Also, Fargo North came out of this last weekend with 2 wins off of Bismarck High and Century. Aren't these two teams supposed to be 2 of the top teams in the West this year. Yes, I know it's the West, but still a couple of good wins to get the Spartans going. I think North will definately battle with Devils Lake for that 4th spot in the East. How does everyone think the game will go with North and GPR on Thursday?
Ok I realize you are alittle biased so this might not due any good, but think about this you lost a large part of your offense (Campbell cousins), by Far your best and the only respectable defensman on the team last year in Andy Peterson, and your best goalie by a long shot. What are you just going to reload? I mean seriously if GPR isn't down I want to know what the definition of down is. GPR is soft in all aspects of defensive hockey. GPR will not be a factor with their goaltending and putred defense. South on the other hand has the Goaltending, They definatly have holes and their strength is not their defensmen only a moron would think that. If they are going to get it done it is all about their goalie. BTW north is brutal, they have a snowballs chance in hell of finishing ahead of my alma mater Central. If you had any credibility before that statement it is long gone now.

Central seems to have a down year talent wise but Bina is a solid coach that will not allow the team to be less than middle of the pack.
They didnt lose any talent last year, I think they will surprise teams towards the end of the year.

South beat Grafton 6-2 tonight. It seemed like South was a little shaky in the first period, but after that settled down and played like everyone thought they would. Grafton played pretty well too, but they do have some goalie issues. Otherwise their forwards seemed to move the puck well and they did kill off most of the penalties and two 5-3 situations. Overall I would say South was the better team tonight, but both will be solid teams in the east this year.
I attended my first high school hockey game in the John E Carlson Colisium, I guess that's one good thing about going to Concordia lots of hockey to see Jets, Cobbers, HS.
You can tell GPR is down this year... They have poor goaltending and shaky defensman. They are deep upfront but they have trouble breaking the puck out. South looked alittle shaky at times also, They showed signs of losing all of those seniors also, Their goalie played very well, He made alot of very nice saves or this game could have been much closer.
As expected the state looks to be down this year, with only 3 juniors returning from the top 25 in scoring last year.
Are any teams not down from last year except Wahpeton and Devils Lake and Central?

I think he meant the fact that Brian Gionta his teammate and former rival has 3 times as many goals as Zach. That would be why hes doing only ok.

Matt Smaby announced today he won't be coming back. He signed with the Lightning, and will report to them this summer. He wants to finish out the semester at UND. Good luck Matt! You were a great captain!

I'm sad to say this but I would be surprised if he is in the NHL at anytime during the next three seasons, You have to remember it's a different game now with the new rules gone are the days of clutch and grab there is much more emphasis on skill... I think a few years in the AHL will help him with his footspeed and ice vision...I hope I am wrong and he gets in right a way but I just can't see it happening.

Well ladies,
This is the last post for X2thez. I will be leaving the great town of Grafton and moving to Rio de Janeiro, I hope to be able to help stop the worlds illegal drug rings at their source, but I hope to be back to vote in the 2008 election. I'm sad to say that i'm giving up the shop to my cousin from Grand Forks recent graduate of Red River. I hope this will give him a good start as he is coming off a long and painful re-hab stint ( cocaine, yes it is still a big problem).
The thing I'm going to miss the most is going out for a brandy and crumpets after our home wins.

If you are willing to be the goalie laying on the ice, I'd be willing to take a light cross check to the back and see where my hands end up
All hostility aside, the bottom line is that South won, Central lost, and nobody will remember this "incident" two weeks from now.
Where to start.....
- I was speechless when I saw how this was sorted out... A central player smokes the south player (who is celebrating the goal) from behind directly into his goaltender, The referee sees this and acknowledges this and gives him a penalty, He then gives the south player a major for running into the goalie?? I'm curious how this peon got the nod to work the state tournament.
- Another very questionable call came in the Spoilers game against RR. Some player with fairly weak skills appeared to trip over the blueline with about 2.5 min left in the 3rd period and Some GF ref decides to try take it out of the kids hands right there. ( but fails obviously). This happend to be the second game in row that RR was givin a powerplay very very late in the game on rather questionable calls. I was so devasted for the boys after this game because you hate to see a team lose on goal that clearly shouldn't have been allowed... really too bad.
-It will be interesting to hear the comments or lack there of, from the RR players/ parents / fans that have graced this fine site over the past few weeks.

From a very reliable account Wurden took an unprovoked two hand at Fargo North's Matt Labernik and caused him to have a season ending injury in the South and North's 2nd meeting this season. I'm sure ND Pride will vouch for me on this one.
-I have never in my 22 years of hockey experiance seen an unprovoked slash.... my "guess" is that the North player was being a little *****, so wurden let him have it.
- Let's drop this subject because I like many other people on this site weren't at the game so we are just speculating.
- I'm hoping I can make it down to the thursday games. I told some of the boys I'd make it down to their game, but the Ram 2500 has been alittle flakey as of late so, I'm hoping it warms up so I can drive the Trans-Am down.
- I had a few of the players stop in for crumpets sunday afternoon ( they are fantastic ask around for them if your ever in grafton). They seemed fairly confident, they said that if their on thier game they can contend.

I too was at the game and i must say it was a good game for both sides. Each time is very even in my opinion..Did they quit giving sportsmanship awards for the region tournament or is that alwasy been state and they didnt name a east region tournament MVP but i guess we all know who that would of been. I belive it ouwld of been Marc Milhulka, cant say enough about this kid 3 straight hat tricks and one against the the 2nd best team in the state (Fargo South). BTW why do they call him ten bears or did i hear wrong. Who do you guys think would of been the tournament MVP? Im surprised there wasnt that many people there for south but i guess the drive is jsut too exepnsive with gas. Also i was talkin to some security guards who I believe are beign told to take the fun out of cheering. THey told me they took away 5 cow bells on thursday and 3 air horns too. All of these though were tookin from the Red River student section. I thought the refs made some bad calls but i guess they cant make all the calls and i bellieve those peopel who say the Ref's favor GFRR are saying lies but it looekd to me liek tehy were on the side of FArgo South but that just could be me. Looks like theres gunna be an all east region semi's this year again and maybe even a all GF final again for which im hoping for cuase of all the poepel that go to the games. I remeber last year they had to oepn up the top seating becuase of so many poeple were coming in.
For all you home owners out there this is where your property tax goes.... trying to not be political but if you truly graduated high school the GF public school system owes you, me and everyone on here an apoligy.

Move the game to fargo or a neutral site and lets see how many of the GF hopeful make the trip.
Also, the all GF final looks alittle bleak unless GFC can work out some of the kinks in it's armor... i.e 4-1 loss to WF and a 3-2 double O.T win over Jamestown. GFC's road to State.... Lose to the 4 seed beat the 8 seed in double OT and squeak by the 6 seed. WOW it's safe to say that they are rolling and they WILL NOT CANNOT BE STOPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fail to see the logic in how GPR would rather have to go through West Fargo in the loser-out game. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't West Fargo a better team than Central this season?
While he who shoots top shelf may have a point, I would doubt GPR tanked the game hence the fact they played two overtimes, but I do understand why Shanley then WF would be a more attractive road to the state tourney then South then Central. Dave K this is the reason why they would want to play WF over Central or Jamestown.... They have a 10-0 edge on WF and a 7-4 edge on central with a loss, they have a 8-6 edge over jamestown with a loss. To sum up, they didnt throw this game but I'm sure they knew that it was a preety good worst case scenario.

I looked on the Lincoln Stars transactions on there website and I did not see them acquiring Erick Galt. I'm not doubting whoever said that he commited, just wondering how you found that out and if I could get some more details. Thats interesting. I wonder if Weisgarber will do the same with a USHL team? If so, will they not compete on the Chicago Showcase (Team ND) team? Same goes for Klenow who will play for the FM Jets when there season ends, will he be eligible? Losing some of these guys will most definitly hurt ND's chance at winning the thing.
I'm VERY surprised to hear klenow is going to the Jets (if what you say is true). It will be interesting to see how fits in with the Jets, I think the game might be a little bit to quick for him... i maybe wrong, but this is what I gathered in the one time I've seen him and the one time i've seen the Jets play.

I saw McBain play Shanley the first time around and just like crosby 87 said there are spots in the game where you forget you're watching the leading scorer in the state, then he'll come done the wall and snipe one shortside. It's his first year of playing varsity hockey I think and if he stays in Hazen he could maybe help bring a WDA title to the Stars. 6-2 Red-river, Grafton had a chance to tie it in the first but One of the campbell's missed a great oppurtunity, after that it was all red river. Dissapointing way to end the year if your a spoiler fan but I can still see the spoilers making some noise in the tourney.

I think he definitely would wear the C next year..........One big problem there is about a 1 in 100 chance he will be here next year. As I have said before I do not like the trade off of Smaby for Marto. Finley is going to have to play the physical role because other than Jones who is undersized none of our D really play the body.
Your forgeting that he doesn't exactly fit into the new nhl. there is much more emphasis on talent and footspeed. No offense to him, but he isn't the fleetest nor does he have exceptional hands.

Red River/Wahpeton tonite in Wahpeton. This one can and will get ugly. My guess is that the Riders will win about 14 or 15 to 0. We could see a big game, maybe a 7 or 8 pointer from either Galbreath or Mihulka.
Previous games this season would deter one from coming up with a conclusion such as Mihulka or Galbreath getting eight points in one game.
Also it would be nice if you all could argue in a more civil manor, we wouldn't want this discussion board to be shut down this close to tourney time.
Stop ripping on Ndpride, he is one of the few legitimate sources on here. I personnaly can't see North, South, or Shanley play unless they come to town, so it's nice to have him on here to fill us in on the games from fargo.

I would like to agian apologize for my teammates comments. I hope that they realize that they are making our program look like a huge joke... Please disregard all comments from this user/ and also other users that are visibly Red river hockey players. I hope that this is the last time I have to come on here and say this.
It's nice to see one Red river player has some class, as for the rest of you fools, your making yourselfs look really bad not to mention embarressing your team.
With that said lets get back on track, I heard that EDC tourney will not be held at the Ralph, NDpride you seem to be very knowledgable, do you know why this is?

If I had to guess I would say Luapsided is alot younger then him. I haven't seen lives start calling people names. Luapsided just doesn't bring anything to the table except insults, I would say he should ban himself if he can't add anything to the discussion. Personnaly I don't mind lives posts because it spices up the arguements and makes them less boring to read.
