  1. It's good news that Drake returned, albeit briefly. If he had suffered a serious injury, he would have stayed out. Let's hope it was just something minor that a week's rest will cure..
  2. What time do coaches usually announce their line-ups for a game? Is it usually a few minutes beforehand? And do any Sioux fans meet at a local sports bar in metro Phoenix to watch the weekend games? Would like to meet some of you guys in the near future..
  3. I hear you as I also have the same tendency to correct people, usually those who don't capitalize the first letter in a sentence. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy usually works better than synthetic meds, in case you were wondering. : )
  4. May I clarify something? I edited that part of my post out, but I am shading towards that age..
  5. Fans aren't required to march in lockstep because there will be disagreements from time to time. There's a "pattern in my approach" that you don't appreciate? That's interesting. What do you do, cruise the forums & look for dissenters? This is a sports forum where everyone usually has a different take to add to the discussion; not a gulag in 1930s Russia. There will always be people who think differently than you, sports included, so get used to it. It doesn't mean they're bad or disloyal people, they're just different. Sometimes I get a little hot because fans question or doubt my loyalty if I don't think like them. Was that too petulant for you? I was posting strictly about the hockey game tonight & you zeroed in on my comment of "Thx for the updates, nite". Was that too negative for you? Please reply in the appropriate thread where you may have had a previous disagreement with me. If you continue to have a beef with me, PM me & we can carry on our discussion in private. I'll be more than happy to engage you there. I love this hockey team, as I'm sure you do by the sound of it, so let's focus on the team, shall we? Apologies, guys, for posting this here; he's been asked to reply in private if he wants. And does anyone know if tonight's game will be on DirecTV? Thanks in advance if anyone knows..
  6. Thanks. I agree that Cam should play as often as possible; we don't know if Zane will even be around next year & the more rubber Cam sees, the better. He probably has a lot of physical talent, but just needs the playing time so he can sharpen his skills & increase his confidence. Would suck to have a starting sophomore goalie with just a couple of games under his belt. Regarding Poolman, he excelled against Providence & again tonight, but struggled when Miami brought a quicker pace. I wonder if he would have had just as good a game against a higher-caliber team with speed or if he would have struggled again.. This probably classified as a character win tonight, coming from that many goals down.
  7. Thanks. I was trying to maintain my composure at a non-hockey gathering, checking my smartphone every 5 min, & it was getting tough to maintain a fake smile until this board started popping with Sioux goals. I was like "Geezus Christmas, here we go again." Then Poolman started showing what he could do..
  8. Any opinions on Cam Johnson tonight? Mostly the jitters & inexperience? What position was Poolman playing?
  9. What the hell are you talking about? I'm as happy about tonight as any Sioux fan so grow the eff up.. But anyway, appreciate the updates, folks..
  10. Thx for updates, nite
  11. What?? They're ahead now? Geesh, total blitzkrieg
  12. Time check, pls
  13. Is Cam still in net?
  14. 0-3, seriously?
  15. UND is good, but not #1 kinda good, at least not yet Our PWR will go straight down the crapper if this holds
  16. Both goals off UND icings
  17. I'll see your Living Colour, & raise you Hues Corporation
  18. I know, I just like clarifying things to an unnecessary degree. If Stecher is this good now, imagine down-the-road. I mean, he hasn't even hit his ceiling yet & you can see this when he plays, the potential for even more growth. You look at some players & you can tell that they've maxed out on their abilities & that they've settled comfortably into their roles on the team. Not Stecher. It seems like he's still discovering new ways of making himself an even better player. Like, "Hmm, I noticed that that forward always dips his head when he tries to go wide left on me, next time he does that I'll step up for a poke check & try an odd man rush the other way." Just small stuff like that. Plus his confidence is just as high as his physical abilities, an outlook a player needs to be considered great.
  19. Dictionary.com lists it as beyond ordinary, remarkable, exceptional in character. All the Sioux players have talent, but Stecher stands out & above most of his high-caliber teammates, I think..
  20. His development just goes to show how well UND develops its players physically, mentally & emotionally for the next level. A lot of good adjectives to describe his on-ice play, esp. dynamic. Dynamic as in able to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary..
  21. What usually happens is that at the end of the season & into the playoffs, we see a Sioux player who elevates his game to a level we weren't expecting earlier in the year. IE, for all we know & it's still TBD, but a guy like Murphy could be the X Factor in getting us through the playoffs when it was the last thing we were anticipating in the first half of the season. Not saying it will be him, but it's usually someone that was deemed a liability or a non-factor earlier. I think Poganski is going to continue growing beyond his stature as a freshman so I'm not going to say it's him that will be a surprise. I would like to see either J. Schmaltz regain last year's form so there would be no weak links in the D, or LJ to continue his gritty play w/active feet like last weekend to provide more depth at forward..
  22. I understand & you have a valid point. My reasoning was that the team looked like they were a step behind Miami & not used to that kind of pace after playing some weaker competition before that weekend. But you're right, not all games can or should be against top 15 teams, need a few softies once in awhile..
