I would say the UND program winning (how loud were the last couple of home games last year?), the acoustics of the Alerus, lower ceiling, smaller volume, alchohol availability, and definitely the "newness" of the Alerus.
-
His responses last night were nearly identical to what he was saying on his show on thursday when he was discussing the conservatives coming down on him. Seems like his responses were a little rehearsed .
-
I thought his new radio show was starting at the beginning of the year. He still will be doing News and Views, is he quitting the UND broadcasts?
-
I would guess the Midwest would play the South. Last year it was the NE(UNC v GVSU), and in 2001 UND played UCD (West). In 2000 it was NDSU v Delta State (South). Hey, I thought the NCC was supposedly not as strong as it was in the 90's Looks like the NCC was the best midwest conference the last three years.

The "10%-ers" already get a cut of the DI pie. Who do you think pays for the postseason?
-
He's going to be on Scarborough(?) County tonight as well.
-
If the NCAA was worried about too many schools moving to DI, they could reinstate the moratorium again. That's a better way of stopping schools from moving up. The postseason ineligibility is there to make sure schools are committed to the move.

In defense of poor Eddie, he does have some good points. He doesn't screen the phone calls on his show, and he will take action for a cause he believes in. My father had an "issue" with the city of Fargo a couple years ago and he called in to Ed's show. Ed took his call, and after hearing what he said he told him to get down to the studio and they would get something done about it. They talked about it on the air for over an hour on the show, and miraculously the city resolved the "issue" the next day. I think Eddie had his change of political thinking because the Republicans wouldn't commit to promoting him for election. That and it's a lot harder to make it in conservative radio. It's a lot like his change of face after he found out that NDSU wanted WDAY to do their games, instead of Eddie after he left.

DaveK, If it were only that simple. Look at Winona and Concordia-St.Paul last week. Both teams only had one loss, but CSP had already beat Winona. Winona was ranked #3, and CSP was ranked #8 in the regional poll.

UNO will be coming after the punter. They had two roughing the punter penalties against NDSU. They did come close to the ball. The only other team that has been close to the Bison punter was UC-Davis, and their whole team is FAST. Turnovers will be very important. If the Mavs run the option like they did against NDSU, UND will easily have two fumble recoveries. UNO has a couple of big receivers that may pose problems for the UND secondary. I believe that five of their receivers were 6'3" +.

The WAC already countered the C-USA migration by inviting Utah State and New Mexico State. It's a great time to be an AD looking for a DI conference! The possibilities are endless!

Aren't college athletic teams flown via charter, as opposed to hopping on a normal flight and hoping that there are seats still available? How does the UND hockey team travel to games out east? Do they fly from GF to Mpls to another hub to the destination? Anybody know how much a charter flight costs?

Wyoming would drop football before they move to I-AA, probably along with Idaho. It has been discussed on the Griz boards before. CoteauRinkRat, Why do UND fans even care what conference NDSU ends up in? I come on here to discuss, not argue.

star2city, Yup, message boards were chatting about Miami's move long before it happened. The most credible message board on the subject,College Sports Info, was talking about it long before anybody else. I trust the "rumblings" on there much more than some team's fan spouting off on a Valpo board. The next couple of years will be interesting in conference realignment, with moves by the WAC, C-USA, and the Sunbelt coming next.
-
star2city, The credibility of your "source" is laughable at best . What happened to IFPW, TexasAM-Corpus Cristi, and Texas Pan-Am all being the frontrunners for memebership into the Mid-Con? Has anyone noticed that the threads about those schools were all started by a NO fan (probably the only one)? Here's something you might find interesting (it's on a message board, so it must be true )

I'm trying to figure out why Winona is ranked ahead of Concordia St. Paul. They have the same record, but Winona lost the head-head. Northern will probably be a good test for Winona, as they lost to CSP in a 59-52 shootout. Edit- Whinona does have one more "W" than CSP. I guess that would be the reason.

At least Airmail's flowers could grow without nightly "watering" sessions.

I think NDSU has St. Mary's on the schedule next year.

*cough* 1996 and 1998 Potato Bowls *cough* Was Moorhead State even D2 back then?
-
UND 92,96 Th interference call was pretty obvious on TV. Sweeny and Halstom both agreed that the replay at the Alerus didn't show it like nearly like the angle on TV. Speaking of penalties- Anybody notice the lack of holding calls on both sides? I remember, albeit with biased eyes, a play where Dwight Summerville beat his lineman and had an unimpeded path to Bowenkamp, but his jersery seemed to have a lineman's hand grabbing right between the numbers on the back of his jersey.

That's just the fans that are looking for excuses. Babich isn't that bad of a DB, but Gorman is better. I think Bobby was getting some looks and offers from DI schools. Bobby is still young and got thrown into the fire, as his redshirt was yanked last year. If the Bison didn't have so many injuries, he would only be a redshirt freshman this year. He has improved markedly this year. I'd want to play for my father if I had the opportunity.
-
Should be. Winona will probably be the new #1 with their overwhelming victory over MN-St Moorhead
-
The NFL coaching spots are all about having connections. Babich was friends with Lovie Smith, the Rams defensive coordinator. I think Babich saw the end of the road as a Bison coach, and just made sure he turned off before he hit the end.
-
For the number guys out there, the stats were nearly identical. The biggest differences would be the +1 turnovers for UND, and NDSU actually had nearly 10 minutes more in TOP. -North Dakota State vs North Dakota (Oct 18, 2003) Why was attendance listed as 12,267? I thought it was a sellout

Bringing this thread back on topic: The Bison lost to a very good Sioux team that actually played for four quarters. The Sioux beat a very good Bison team that never gave up and made a terrific comeback. One of the great games. First Bison/Sioux game to ever go to OT. Congrats to UND, and best of luck the rest of the season.
