I'm in - Given the fact that Bubba has been hard on the recruiting trail, why are we in this position?
-
How true - we did it to ourselves and were content to be down the Musshole for quite some time. Rebuilding a winning atmosphere will take time after that mess. Meanwhile, to our south ......
-
Let's not confuse a "boring offensive philosophy - ground and pound" with extremely frustrating play calling. Even the old school offenses mentioned will throw it when they see 9 in the box. We are extremely one dimensional and that leads to a frustrating viewing experience. No question, our defense kicked butt yesterday, but the continued sloppy play - yesterday on kick coverage and all season on stupid penalties are sometimes hard to watch. After seeing the game Saturday, I sure didn't feel like I was watching a team on a 7 game win streak. If Bubba Ball is about discipline and execution we still have a ways to go.

Rudolf has had an off season as well - hell an off career
-
I like our team better than some of our coaches - looking at you Rudolf and at whoever coaches kickoff coverage.
-
Wow - what a horrible power play we have Did we miss-recruit this year? Other than Jost, who is outstanding - While BU sucked up almost every defensive stud in the known universe, the team with the best defense last year seems to come up short. What's up with that. And did Tomek abscond with the church funds? Run off with a Senator's wife, or kill a man? If not why can't he get a try? We looked bad tonight. Not Sioux hockey at all.
-
With the talent we have had here for the last 10 years, why can't we have a great power play ever?
-
Anyone else sick and tired of our corners playing 10 yards off - it seems this is beginning to be a tradition here regardless of who coaches. Cowboy up for craps sake.

Sounds like you are happy with the ever popular one yard plunge.

This is obviously over Rudolph's head. Nine in the box and he can't call even for a tight end. What a putz.
-
When he's in the pocket he locks on to a receiver as hard as anyone I have seen - he's much better on the move.
-
It's hard to know how to feel after this game - it is nice to see we have some real gamers who are learning how to win. However, we have some things that I feel should be further along in this third year of Bubba Ball - first is self discipline - we play with the same crap behavior we saw with Mussman and penalties cost us dearly. Second - do we have to be so predictable on offense that I want to poke my eyes out? - We can still be a run-first team and vary the plays and keep the other team off balance. Rudolf is a liability. We really need some more talent in the offensive line - many people act like if you recruit good defensive players that automatically means you neglect the offense - bull. Last, we need a QB with some skills. Studsrud in the pocket locks on and never looks to his other options. He has regressed. Time to put things together.

Could not agree more - this was one of the big selling points of Bubba Ball
-
It's the 4th game of the season and we still haven't scored an offensive point in the first quarter - Looking at you, Rudolf
-
It's like Rudolf has some kind of mental obsession with 2nd and 9

When all of the expense of renting the Ralph was laid off on Men's Hockey with Women's VB, Women's BB and Women's Hockey assessed nothing for rent for starters.

This shows Rudolf at his best.

Actually, a tight end across the middle of the field is a great strategy here - and running is only successful if your line gets a push.
-
Interesting stats, but without being at the game, these don't tell the whole picture. Watching our offense was downright painful for most of the game and the biggest problem was that we were so predictable. The chart doesn't show, for example, how many first downs we had the dive up the middle with 8 in the box. Rudolf has shown absolutely no ability to adjust during the game to keep the opponents off balance and guessing. Like I have said, when we get against a weaker opponent our RB's will look like world beaters and Rudolf will think that he is on the right track. Then when someone stuffs the run we will do nothing to adjust.
-
You are correct - a little taste of what might have been - but apparently we decided 2nd and 9 was preferable.
-
On offense, how fired up could you get when you know you will go out and run a series of 1 yard plunges. The D should be fired up because they have the chance to go out there and inflict some damage. The offense, not so much and part of that is the crap play calling that doesn't even give them much of a chance.
-
I remember that game well - a bitter defeat in bitter weather - as memory serves me, we were much bigger than them and had a punishing ground game. I really thought this was our year and they really stuck it to us.
-
Let's face it - in this day and age it is all about the product on the field, and while it is nice to rally in the 4th to go 1-2 if we continue to run an offense that makes fans want to bash their head against the wall it will be hard to develop a positive buzz about this program. Perhaps the most frustrating two quarters of football I have seen here at UND.
-
This is the thing - there is absolutely no excuse for this mind-numbing play calling on any level. I have given up on Rudolf as he has shown us time and time again he can't/won't adjust. But come on Bubba - you are a better football mind than this. Why are we doing this? And here's the problem - at some point we will play a cupcake that gives our running backs a little room and zoom - they will run absolutely gash their opponents. Rudolf will go "see - we just needed to give this offense a little time". Then when we face the big boys again - same old same old. If Bubba wants to increase the attendance and atmosphere (which we all do) then please give us a gameplan that doesn't make us want to poke our eyes out. Time Bubba made some changes.
