  1. i got your back...U forsure will make it on the screen...SWEET Go Sioux

You guys will hear the "A**hole" chant a plenty, but other then that the student section at 'Ucci is harmless. Which section are you in, Section 2-3 or the main student section 13-14?

  2. As a fan who's been to GF a few times for Gophers-Sioux series I would recommend the following.

-The Red Pepper for a Grinder

    -The El Roco for post-game

-Gillys for pre or post game, I thought their food was actually pretty good.

-Happy Joes for their taco pizza, they have a lunch buffet on Saturdays.....but their taco pizza is epic.

  3. That was a brutal call, yet I have people over on my blog trying to tell me it's a penatly...

Well it could have been considered a penalty, but the camera view isn't the greatest. I mean even if it was a legit hipcheck if it is into the boards I would guess it should be considered a penalty? But like I said, the camera angle isn't the best and from the view you see on the Youtube bit it does not seem like it deserved a CFB.

  4. I say by the end of the weekend they're going to change a Duluth goalie's initials to "K.Y."

Yup, UND will be slipping it in so much and so often that Bulldog goalie will henceforth be known as "KY Hjelle". ;)

    HA! Thats awesome. :D;)

  5. But UND played BSU every year the gophers did not. There is a difference in being and doing.

So just because the Gophers did not play them means they did not want them in the league? That Lucia speaking up for them all those times means nothing? Not really sure I understand your logic. Lucia along with most of the other coaches know that we have to keep as many teams in college hockey as possible to keep the sport thriving! From what I recall him and Serratore are pretty good friends as well. I think you need to give your hatred for the Gophers a break for a minute and read into it a bit more.

  6. Guests of honor

Get ready to hunt down tickets and trek down Highway 2 a couple times next season. UND is tentatively scheduled to open both the Bemidji Regional Events Center and the new Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center next season.

The game at Bemidji will be Oct. 15, while the Duluth game is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 30. Plans are in the works to make the Duluth game the Hall of Fame game, too. It's a great place for a HoF game since Duluth is the closest D-I program to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth.

UND has strong ties to both programs.

The Beavers requested to the WCHA that UND be its first opponent in the new building. It also will mark Bemidji State's first series as a member of the WCHA -- a journey and process that UND supported.

  7. I guess i gotta adjust my game plan then......any good pre/post game bars close by?

Sallys, Stub and Herbs, The Library. Library is a better Post-game spot and you if go there hit up Burrito Loco at closing time which is right next door, AWESOME burritos. Sallys and Stub and Herbs are the big pre-game bars, both have pretty decent food. Sallys wait staff are "easy on the eyes." The Big 10 is down the street from Sallys, they have good wings and awesome sub sandwiches.

  8. I thought I was in Mariucci for about 60 seconds Saturday night. During the break between the end of the 3rd period and overtime, the little kid reciting the Herb Brooks speach was played on the video screen. Seriously?!?! Any team other than Minnesota, that would have been fine. However, a little tidbit of info for the genius (I may have been listening to Sid's show for too long) who run's the videos; Herb Brooks used to coach the goofers!!!! How could you not know that?

Well they play the Caddyshack bits all the time too, and the Gopher wins at the end of that movie. What's the difference? :D

  9. FH26 you just have to hang out with the right people that want to have fun and not get into fights. There are awesome fans from Wisconsin and Minnesota and other schools from around the conference. Last season at the final five we had a blast and there was a whole bunch of us from all schools hanging out and having a good time.

Thursday nigth in the Irish Bar (McGoverns maybe?) some guy wearing a Gopher jersey came up and gave me a hug, and the weird meter hit right away, then I realized it was one my war buddies from Desert Storm. While talking to him in the bar one of the rudiest/drunkiest Sioux fan I had ever met spilled my beer, and his beer all over my shoe and did even blink an eye or appologize. Also at the bar in the Holiday Inn one of our own fans was kicked out for being a total ass. It's the a few bad apples. theory.

Right people and not get into fights? I don't get into fights on roadtrips....closest I've ever gotten was actually Sallys by the "U" a couple years ago standing up for some UMD fans/friends that Gopher fans were ripping on, they were getting way out of line.

I myself love the Grand Forks roadtrip, but I refuse to walk the concourse during intermissions up there because of the constant harassment that gets thrown around, I may be a big guy but I'm probably the last guy whos gonna get involved in a fight. Like I said, nothing against Sioux fans but thats just the way Gopher fans get treated up there as well, as well as other fanbases from what I've heard. Not trying to start an argument here just sayin that all fanbases have their numbers of bad fans.

  10. Five or six years ago I was at a Sioux-Goofers game in minneapolis and the Sioux lost and I was I walking out of the arena and goofer fans pushed me down and I almost hit my head on the cement stairs and the yelled at me that the "Sioux F'ing suck", I looked at him very calmly and said "You guys won".

I hate dealing with goofer fans that have earned a bad reputation and they deserve it.

It goes both ways, both schools have fans we would like to discard. I've been threatened many times up in Grand Forks myself but it's just not worth getting into trouble over.

  11. i heard from a friend at wdaz that a fight broke out last night between to fans and one is in a comma. they were 34 and 28 years old not sure which one is which fan

Thats a shame that stuff like that has to happen. :silly: Why can't fans just leave their differences at the arena. Hope the guy comes out of it all right.

  12. I like the fact that Minnesota has always tried to bring in Minnesota kids but even Lucia realizes now that you have to look outstate/out of the country to be able to compete in this league/college hockey. I'm still baffled that we get hardly any canadian recruits, I think UND has Canada pretty well covered for recruiting. :)

As far as not being able to fill the Xcel at tourney time, I assume you mean the Final Five? I honestly think Gopher fans do a pretty good job filling up Xcel during the Final Five, but if they don't win the semi game or play-in game you see the fair weather fans pretty quick. The real frustrating thing is seeing all the empty seats at Mariucci for games, so many corporate seats left unfilled. The corporate argument comes up on GPL all the time that if it was not for the corporate seats ticket prices would go up even more, but I know that the waiting list for season tix is well over 2,000 people right now, and the list hardly goes down every year....unless fans are willing to dish out MORE money to the "Williams Fund" to get seating right away.

As far as other sports in the state being a reason the arena doesn't get filled, I think its somewhat of a factor, especially if the Wild come into play.

  13. And your reason for being on a North Dakota site is? Obsessed?

I don't think it's obsessing at all, just trying to stay informed of whats going on around the league. I check out this board, the SCSU board, the UMD board, the UNO board, refuse to read the UW board :( . To me fan message boards are the best place to find out whats happening with said team. And this is a thread about the UND vs. Gopher series so why wouldn't Gopher fans want to check it out.

As far as this series I'm a bit concerned would have liked to have seen the Gophers play at least a non-conference series instead of jumping into league play against their biggest rival but thats how the schedule works. I'm concerned these guys haven't gelled enough yet to be ready for a series like this. I'm not making excuses if they have a bad weekend I'm just saying. In the same sense I think it's good for the Gophers to be playing the Sioux this early, as the Sioux have historically had a "not so good" start the last few years. Sure wish I was coming up there this weekend though, always have had a blast up in the Forks.

  14. Opposing teams shoot at Section 1 twice.

Section R and S seats are pretty nice I think, right on the glass, sat in those for a few years. Just don't get all the way up towards the top, view up there stinks. Get about mid-way up if you can, usually a pretty good view.
