gfhockey - I think we'd all give you a pass at making a mistake. I've made mistakes before and will make a lot more, and so have others here. I don't think anyone's criticizing you for making a mistake - it's more for the fact that you're an as$hole while doing it.

Yeah, I get that. The Kunitz pick was questioned in the press conference after the announcement and Yzerman specifically said something to the effect of many will think he made this team because of Crosby, but while Crosby makes him better, he also makes Crosby better and we also think he'd have made it on his own merit (I'm paraphrasing, of course). I question that. I would rather have a James Neal or Claude Giroux over Kunitz, whether Kunitz plays with Crosby or not. And truth be told, I think St. Louis was the biggest snub of all...I still don't get that one. Now, of course since I say all of this, Kunitz is going to have an excellent Olympics, scoring multiple goals and setting up even more for Crosby and Yzerman is going to look like a genius! You really can't go wrong with any of these guys, I'm not saying Kunitz or any of the others is a horrible pick (well, Hamhuis was a horrible pick, although he won't see the ice over there unless they play Norway) but other than that, Yzerman and his staff had a really tough job choosing 25 guys to go to Sochi.

The Canadian Men's 2014 Olympic roster was named today...the USA team was announced after the Winter Classic. As each country begins announcing their Olympic rosters, what are everybody's thoughts, comments, predictions, etc.? This should be an awesome year of Olympic hockey!

Ooohh boy...that's a tough one. I really think that this year's Olympic hockey will be some GREAT hockey. I think the following teams could probably take Gold or not even make the medal rounds (and I'm sure I'm missing some here): Canada USA Sweden Finland Russia Czech Republic Slovakia As the Olympics get closer, we'll need an Olympic Hockey thread in the Non-Collegiate sports section on SS.com. Heck, I'll go create it now. That'll be a great thread for some Olympic hockey talk and we can get into predictions as the games draw near!

HA! I was assuming we were discussing the Canadian Olympic hockey team and that we were all on the same page about that! Please allow me to re-phrase: I'm going out on a limb and predict that the Canadian Men's Olympic Hockey Team won't medal at the 2014 Olympics being held in Sochi, Russia.

Here's a prediction for you, MM. I'm going out on a limb and predicting that Canada won't medal this year at the Olympics.

This Sweden vs Russia game has been great. Back and forth action. Sweden just scored on a PP to go up 1-0 with under 1 minute to play in the 1st.

This year's Olympics are going to have a ton of TOUGH teams. I had high hopes for this USA team, and am still hoping they come away with a medal, however after seeing the roster I'm not sold on them - mainly the D. They're going to be VERY young and inexperienced. I would have rather they taken Yandle and possibly Jack Johnson. Bobby Ryan would also have fit nicely on this team up front. The only USA defenseman that would crack Canada's lineup is Suter. Having said that, I suppose when I go back and look at the 2010 roster I probably felt the same, so I hope they prove me wrong.

A friend just texted me - he's listening to Ray Ferraro on the radio and Ferraro said that a couple of the USA players were surprised to find out after the loss that they were out of the tournament. I hope that's not true...
