  1. I can’t see on the replay, but I don’t think the DU goalie loses his mind after the disallowed goal.  Usually if there is any potential interference the goalie blows a gasket.  I might have missed it,  but I didn’t see any reaction.  That’s telling to me.

i didn’t think the contact impeded his ability to make the save at all.  I think being on the wrong side of the net had a much bigger impact.

  2. Video is on page 5.

That was just a really dumb play by Smith.  In the video he is watching the DU player the whole time and veers into him.  The puck is nowhere near them and Smith should have been sliding back and to his left, not out and to the right.

As mentioned, mites run into each other all the time.  High level players don't.  The DU player was wheeling around and wasn't expecting to be leaned it.  I'd call it a (2) for interference, but it was 100% unneeded.  If that same hit was on Gersich the board would be going nuts.

  3. Try opening a "Replica"  branded McDonald's next to a real one, and see how that goes.  It's stealing from McDonalds.  Saying something is "retro" or "replica" doesn't give the right to use the McDonalds name or logo.  Apparently for many it isn't whether an item is counterfeit or not, it's the quality of the counterfeit.  Seems like a weird distinction to make.

  4. If it isn't authorized by UND it's a counterfeit.  They look nice, but unless it's authorized by the University, and the University is getting their cut, it's a counterfeit.

There's a ton of cool looking homemade Sioux stuff that is 100% counterfeit as it was not authorized by UND.   Just private folks making a few bucks.

Not at all I just thought it was funny the posts claiming that their Sioux Fan Father, Grand Fathers etc. says it is ok so there are no issues.  I stated my opinion.   I'm guessing if you asked Vet's from other fan bases or non sports fan's you would get a mix.  Some would say I fight for the right for Americans for be free and express themselves however they please.  You would also have some that would feel disrespected.     You have the right to your opinion and I'm not going to be able to change it.

Good Luck finding someone honestly disrespected by someone standing for the anthem, facing the flag with hand on heart and yelling Sioux.  You honestly don't see a difference in intent here?  I love my country and my university.  What better way to honor both.

  6. It will be interesting with both teams able to set their rotations and 25 man roster for just that one game.  They can reset the roster for the ALDS so basically only one starter in the 25 players.  I wonder if they will go with Santana, followed by Berrios for a couple innings, or if they just turn it over to the bullpen.

  7. Mauer's $23,000,000 is high, but it wasn't crazy at the time it was given.  He has one more year on the deal at $23,000,000.  The young guys have several more years before they are UFAs.  Buxton, Rosario, Sano, and Berrios will be relatively cheap for  3-4 more years.   Dozier will need big $ soon if they keep him, and they need pitching.  They have a decent window before the young guys will bail for more $, but have a few holes to fill.

  8. Twins schedule - Toronto (4), Detroit (7), Yanks (3), Cleveland (3)

    Angels - Texas (3), Cleveland (3), Houston (4), White Sox (4), Seattle (3)

If the Twin 10 of 17 the Angels need to go 12-5 to tie.  That would be tough with their schedule.

Non-exhibition/holiday tickets have sold for $40-45 (less for kids) for years.  That's the price I've paid, and I believe it to be a fair price.  Isn't that the definition of FMV?  How can the seller uncharacteristically and blindly set the price at >100% markup for a pair of games and have that be chalked up to FMV?

The secondary market is a true indication of FMV.  You believe the FMV of the gopher tickets is $40-$45?  If so no tickets will be sold at $100.   I'll bet they sell out in a hurry.  $40 is FMV for a holiday game, I agree with that.

Again, I agreed with the decisions made this week. But nobody "needs" to "give it a rest". When you make controversial and/or unpopular decisions like this, you will have a backlash.

I think the problem is everyone thinks their opinion is valid.  Just because someone has a opinion doesn't mean that opinion isn't 100% wrong and without factual support.  People need to think before spouting off how they feel.

No one NEEDS to give it a rest, but it would behoove them to give it a rest when it makes them look like uneducated self-centered fools to the vast majority of folks.  Some folks just don't realize how their knee jerk reactions are perceived by others.

The cut teams are obviously disappointed.  The situation could have been handled better.  The effected folks can handle it with class or like spoiled brats.  Looks like a few are going with the latter.

I doubt anyone wanted to cut any programs, but you must accept reality on realities terms.  From an institutional perspective a tough decision had to be made, and it appears from an effect and financial approach the correct decision was made.

I actually like our talent next year (assuming Pogo, Wolanin, and Gersich all stay).  Those boys should all get a bit better, some of the other guys should get a bit better, and we have some nice freshman coming in.  Mismash (potential first rounder), Adams, and Kawaguchi all have a ton of skill.  I think guys like Hoff and JJ (even adding in Yon and Bowen) are really going to improve.  I mean, last year Kawaguchi had 83 pts in 56 games.  To compare, Bowen had 22 pts in 47 games.  This was in the same league and Penticton (Bowen's team) had much more fire power.  Also, Kawaguchi is a full year younger.  Collin Adams has averaged a point per game in the USHL over the past two years.  That's super tough to do.  These boys should be ready to go.

I completely agree.  The way the team played in the last few games was impressive.  Next year may not have ultra high end talent, but there will be 4 solid lines that could be miserable to pay against.  If the returning players (especially the D) play like they did against DU, UMD, and BU I expect good things.  D core should be better than last year.

    Hindsight.

You tell one person, they leak it on Twitter.  You literally can't win.

The WCHA was told, Todd Milewski found out and leaked it.  It's just how it is these days.

I agree, word spreads instantaneously.  There is no way to handle the notice issue without getting blasted by someone.  I think they attempted to handle that in the proper manner, but word leaked.  A tough situation for everyone involved.

  13. Played one year of intramural broomball.  We lost in the finals in a shootout.  Still haunts me to this day.  At least I scored on my shot.  I remember heading over to the old ralph after midnight to play the games after IM hockey.

I guessing you spent a night in Walsh Hall, I was there in '70-71. Remember back then the ladies had to be in at 10:00 and Midnight on weekends. Also any fresh had to live in the dorm, unless your folks lived in or near GF.

    1996 for me.  Good times.

I understand the concern about the penalty on Janutuinen putting us down 5x3 at the end of the game, but watching it in real life, and then watching a replay I can see how the call was made.  JJ does wrap his arms around the guy as they hit the boards, and the guy goes down.   In a penalty fest like this, with the 5x3's and PP's UND received (right, wrong or indifferent can be argued) you have to be careful.  Wrapping the guy up just puts you at he mercy of what the ref sees.  JJ's pressure causes the Bulldog's skates to catch the boards and drops.  I'm not even sure it was a flop, but it was almost certainly going to be called the way this game was being played.  JJ should not have wrapped the guy up, simple as that.

I agree.  You knew after the game was tied 3-3, with UND still on the PP, that a makeup call was coming.  That came with the Pogo penalty.   The JJ one wasn't a dive, the guy's skates hit the boards and he went down.  I won't have called it, but the penalty for Jost being "hooked" was worse.

The Olson penalty was a total joke.  The Simonson penalty was a crosscheck, but a total flop.  A think a couple trips called on UMD were just player's losing an edge on crappy ice.

    Ref's had a horrible game.

  16. I've gone other years, missed this year.  Never an issue with the ushers.  Food is overpriced at every sporting event.  If you don't want to pay the high prices that's up to you.  The convenience of being downtown and getting around through the skyways it great.

I much prefer the X as a facility, but can live with the TC.

Absolute terrible call to put the Sioux down 2 men with like a minute left on a small grab and a dog dive behind his own goal.  Absolute joke.

I agree, but that call was for the same thing they called when Jost was held a minute earlier.  Both should have been no calls in the situation.

True. But he did throw him back out there on a 5 on 4 power play to try and bait UND into going after him and giving them a 5 on 3.

He's also plays the point on the first line power play.  Be kinda odd not to have him out there.  If the roles were reversed with Boeser he'd still be the quarterback on the PP.
