  2. Is it too early to worry about if and when we will be on TV? Sat.? I hate ESPN's NCAA hockey coverage. Every game from Fri. through Sun. should be televised.

This is why I have started to LOVE Midco. ESPN3 on my Xbox360. Split screen for the ability to watch 2 games at once.

    LOVE IT!!

  3. It looks like Chambers has tweeted this:

"DU's Jason Zucker injured in third period, en route to local hospital for tests. @CoachGwoz said he doesn't know how serious"

In watching the play, I think it was the fact that he was stepped on by his own player that may have injured him and not the hit.

I could be wrong, just another point of view.

  5. This thing is a mess. Trying to keep bracket integrity is going to be VERY hard if you want to maintain some sort of geographical relevance.

I'm going to give it a try and see what I come up with.

Also, there is no more 'bus rule' in NCAA Mens Hockey.

Edit: Who are the host schools? Is Minnesota the only host school in the tourney field?

  6. I just noticed something and am wondering if someone can confirm this.

I was looking at UND's comparison with Miami, specifically the common opponents.

    North Dakota	Miami

    0.6250 COP 0.7500

    3-1-0 0.7500 Bemidji 0.5000 1-1-0

    1-1-0 0.5000 Denver 1.0000 1-0-0

Now, In looking at this, the Sioux are 4-2 vs COP and Miami is 2-1. They both equal out to a .6667 win %. But if you look, they take the win % against each team and figure out the average.

Why on earth do they do it that way? That gives those 1 game series'/holiday tournaments way too much value, IMO.

  7. This from the WCHA website:

If Denver prevails on Sunday evening - the seeds for the Final Five will be: No. 1 Minnesota, No. 2 Minnesota Duluth, No. 3 Denver, No. 4 North Dakota, No. 5 St. Cloud State and No. 6 Michigan Tech. The matchups in Saint Paul would be as follows - Thursday, March 15 - No. 6 Michigan Tech vs No. 3 Denver at 2:07 pm CT and No. 5 St. Cloud State vs No. 4 North Dakota at 7:07 pm CT - Friday, March 16 - No. 6/No. 3 vs No. 2 Minnesota Duluth, 2:07 pm CT and No. 5/No. 4 vs No. 1 Minnesota, 7:07 pm CT.

If Wisconsin is victorious on Sunday night - the seeds for the Final Five will be: No. 1 Minnesota, No. 2 Minnesota Duluth, No. 3 North Dakota, No. 4 St. Cloud State, No. 5 Michigan Tech and No. 6 Wisconsin. The Final Five match ups would then be - Thursday, March 15 No. 6 Wisconsin vs No. 3 North Dakota at 2:07 pm CT and No. 5 Michigan Tech vs No. 4 St. Cloud State at 7:07 pm CT - Friday, March 16 No. 6/No. 3 vs No. 2 Minnesota Duluth at 2:07 pm CT and No. 5/No. 4 vs No. 1 Minnesota at 7:07 pm CT.

So Minnesota gets the winner of the 4/5 matchup regardless of who wins the 3/6? I thought they reseaded after each round so that the highest rank gets the lowest rank?

  8. Right now, according to USCHO, with only the UMD/UMN game and the BU/Providence game tomorrow, the Sioux are currently tied for 6th with St. Lawrence, winning the RPI tie breaker. With Robert Morris and St. Lawrence already claiming 2 of the auto bids, and either BU or Providence taking a 3rd, that already puts the cutoff at 5th. To get to 5th, UND would need to be able to flip 2 comparisons, or flip the comparison with BC (only a .0006 difference in RPI).

If UMD wins, there is basically no shot for the Sioux, however, if UMN wins, is it enough to sway UND's RPI more than .0006 points? Then, keep in mind that the BU/Providence game will affect BC's RPI (I would guess) as well as UND's as they played BU earlier in the year. I don't know enough of how the RPI formula works to know if this is even a chance. But right now, the Sioux's chances are pretty slim, IMO.

Edit: Does the CHA get an auto bid with only 4 teams? Maybe Robert Morris winning that conference doesn't hurt the Sioux.

  9. Sweet. Were they there for any other reason besides signing autographs?

To have fun...but they were invited (and I'm sure compensated) by the establishment. :D

It was fun, we were there about 45 minutes and my wife was actually dragging guys around introducing them to people. She absolutely loves Sioux players, and they were more than eager to please.

I heard they were there most of the night, and the refreshments were flowing pretty good I guess.
