  1. UND SID just tweeted this in regards to someone asking if there is any way for people who live outside of ND can watch the game:

"I spoke too soon. More options may be announced today."

I don't see how Fox Sports North doesn't pick this up. They have picked it up in the past.

Any information if WDAZ will broadcast it in HD since a HD feed will be available?

  2. I don't really like the idea of playing them again (if the Sioux beat RPI)...but the Sioux could have just as easily cashed 3 or 4 more opportunities on Saturday and it would have changed the whole complexion of the game. I feel like we took DU's best shot and still managed to get the W.

Leave it to the NCAA to put the top two teams from the same conference in the same bracket...(Yale/Union as well)

    My thoughts exactly.

  3. Any idea why they have the Midwest Regional (Green Bay) as the early games on Saturday and the Northeast Regional as the late games?

Wouldn't you typically schedule them east to west due to the time change? I find this very odd.

Edit: I checked ESPNU's schedule for next Saturday....they are showing Lacrosse games when they could be showing the Sioux game.

  4. Is the UND-RPI game the early game on the 26th?

The times you see are Eastern...we play at 1230p central on Saturday

  5. Predicted bracket from USCHO:

I'd hate to have to face DU again in a potential regional final matchup (they're a tough team and would be out looking for revenge for tonight), but these brackets would be doable.

I think UMD could challenge Yale. The NE regional is a toss-up IMO.

The West regional is the bracket of death. If BC wants to repeat, they would have their work cut out for them there.

Agree totally with everything in your post. Denver does not scare me that much...I think tonight we were the better team, and will be even BETTER when Gregoire returns next week.

  6. I am going for the following teams tonight:

Western Michigan (a Win will keep New Hampshire at 12(in the 3 seed band) and not 13th(in the 4 seed band).

Boston College (strictly defensive to keep Merrimack from becoming a #1 in case New Hampshire ends up at 13)

and of course - North Dakota!!

The rest I don't care about...RPI/Cornell....who cares who we play out of those two.

As long as Miami beats Western Michigan tonight, they should be the #4 overall seed. They would get sent out east and UND and BC would host the western regional I believe.

Not if Merrimack would have beaten BC, then Merrimack would have had the last #1 I believe.

Doesn't matter as BC defeated Merrimack. Win and we're #2, lose and we're #3.

  8. if this were how the final pairiwise were to look I'm pretty sure they would do some switching to get duluth in green bay.

If you switch Duluth to get them into Green Bay(or St. Louis), you create a inter conference match-up in the 1st round by either Merrimack/New Hampshire or UMD/CC

  9. Entering my predictions for the coming weekend, here is my prediction of what the FINAL bracket will be.

Now this is me entering my gut feeling results for this weekend. There is no tinkering with it to get the final brackets I would want.

    Thus the Brackets would be:

    1 Yale v 16 Air Force

    8 Denver v 9 Union

    2 North Dakota v 15 RPI

    7 Merrimack v 10 Notre Dame

    3 BC v 14 Dartmouth

    6 Minn-Duluth v 11 New Hampshire

    4 Miami v 13 UNO

    5 Michigan v 12 CC

Perfect bracket integrity with no inter-conference match-ups.

    A couple of notes:

Denver and Air Force can be travel buddies heading to the East.

I do see UND going to Green Bay in this case though w/ the Miami bracket in St. Louis.

A (likely?) chance for an all WCHA Frozen Four.

I have spoken posted...so it shall be. ;)

  10. In playing with the USCHO Pairwise Predictor, I have figured that the only way we can get the overall #1 seed is if Colgate beats Yale.

This is vital because Colgate is a common opponent for Yale/BC. Yale losing to Colgate would flip the comparison in favor of BC, creating a 3 way tie for first.

    We DO want:

    Yale to lose to Colgate

Sioux to keep winning! (Winning is key, if either BC or Merrimack(by beating Northeastern) win Hockey East, we need 2 wins to maintain the #2 overall spot. Would get the #1 overall if Yale loses to Colgate and we win 2. Could fall as far as #4 if Merrimack wins HE and we lose 1 game)

This was all derived from only a short amount of time playing with the predictor...I will play more in the coming days and post other scenarios/interesting facts that I find. I invite you all to do the same!!

  11. Hey Jim...I was just wondering why you removed the section of the PWR that showed what the last game was that was entered, and what game wasn't entered yet?

I am one that likes to constantly check the PWR this time of year, especially on Fri/Sat nights. it's hard to know which games have been entered.

Thank you for all you do!!

  12. A couple questions I've always had regarding face-offs.

What is the procedure for the face off(who takes position first, etc.)?

What does one do to get tossed from the face off?

I know there is supposed to be a delay of game penalty if the same team gets tossed twice in the same face off, why is this never seen?

  13. Zajac w/ 2/3 of a Gordie Howe hat trick tonight ... 1 goal and 1 fighting major...just missed out on getting the assist as he was on the ice for Kovalchuk's OT game winner. He would have had the 3rd assist I believe.

Toews also continues his tear as he scores the first goal in the Blackhawks game v Carolina.

  14. I've been trying to figure out how to purchase ticket packages for the 2011 Frozen Four at the Xcel center in St Paul but have run into a number of issues and I was hoping someone can give me some insight into how this works. According the the NCAA website, the frozen four is sold out. I spoke with Ticketmaster and they told me that the ticket packages for the frozen four have not yet gone on sale and the onsale date has not yet been announced. I've also found some ticket packages for sale on websites such as stubhub.com and similar but the prices they are asking for the pakages are absolutely rediculous and they aren't even good seats. I live in Minneapolis and really want to make the frozen four this year to see the Sioux kick some butt so any insight you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I don't even know what the face value of a ticket package is so I want to make sure I don't over pay. I also don't want to rely on ticketmaster telling me that they haven't gone on sale yet and then I miss out on going completely. All I know is that I am not going to pay $400+ per person/per package for upperbowl nosebleed seats when I can't even find out what the face value is. This is exactly why I hate sites such as stubhub because they allow businesses to purchase large amounts of tickets and then scalp them for rediculous prices, I simply don't agree with this practice. PLEASE HELP!!! I don't want to get scammed on this.

The tickets are awarded in a lottery system. Your entry into this system is due the June(I believe?) before the season starts. They will issue the ticket packages this month. Until they are issued, nobody even knows where their seats are. This is the only way to purchase tickets first hand that I know of. Tickets are awarded in a priority level, based on how many years you have gotten tickets.

The best bet is to use a forum like this one, or theticket forum on USCHO.com to find tickets. I have purchased tickets for 2 different Frozen Fours this way at face value. Once was 5 rows up behind the goalie and the other was club level seating.

Edit: See answer above for better, more detailed information. ;)

  15. I think they could play Quinnipiac in the second round if there was an upset somewhere else in the first round, since re-seeding is done after the first round.. Quinnipiac is a TUC right now (barely). Then if Quinnipiac takes them to 3 games and they lose in the semifinals, I believe we could pass them. The stars would kind of have to align, but I think it's possible.

Who we want to stay a TUC that is near the cliff:

    Bemidji State (.5007)(We are 4-0 v Bemidji)

Air Force (.5014)(Yale is 0-1 v Air Force)

Robert Morris (.5022)(We are 2-0 v Robert Morris)

    Alaska-Anchorage (.5044)(We are 2-0-1 v Alaska Anchorage)

Who we want to fall off the TUC cliff:

    Quinnipiac (.5009)(Yale is 2-0 v Quinnipiac)

    Cornell (.5023)(Yale is 2-0 v Quinnipiac)

I didn't really see anyone that would hurt/help either team that is close to becoming a TUC. The closest being Brown(.4914)(Yale 2-1 v Brown) and Clarkson(.4913)(Yale 2-0 v Clarkson)

Even if Qunnipiac and Cornell fall off the cliff and Bemidji/Air Force/Robert Morris/Alaska Anchorage all stay on the good side of the cliff, Yale's TUC would be 8-3(.7273) v our (.7286).

Yale does not play this coming weekend and we do not play a TUC, so the only movement that will be made will be influenced by games out of our control.

Another thing of note I saw. After this weekends games against Mich Tech, we will end up with an (*) by our name for having a win not count toward our RPI as it would negatively influenced it. I don't think I've ever seen UND with this. But as someone else said, Tech is so bad, that losing to us would raise their RPI.
