Ok, so we get by BU on Friday and end up playing the UMD diving team on Saturday...Sioux are up 4-1 with one minute to go and we are coming down on a 2-1 with Cole Smith and Trevor Olson...Do we A) Try to score, B) Play the puck into the corner and hold it against the boards to burn up the clock, or C) Have both players launch themselves like a missile into the Duluth goalie at the same time in order to take him out of the game.  I vote for option C, what do you guys think? :)

Or D) the lone UMD player is a certain goalie running punk who gets tripped up by one UND player and then landed on by both UND players during the goal celebration.

The only thing that really bugged me was the UMD band and their 'Sioux no more!' chants after any sioux chant we did.   Just seemed mean spirited for an official team band for UMD to have more negative UND chants than positive ones for their team.

You must never have been to a series at UMD to hear their "Smallpox Blanket" and "We Stole Your Land" cheers.

I think Target Center has improved alot since the first couple of years. This was our fourth year attending. We had no problems with the ushers. On the contrary, I thought they were all friendly and helpful. The usher in our section 138 spent alot of  time chatting with us and anyone who stopped by. He asked us about the Ralph, how many it seated, what we had for concessions etc. He was actually a character. We moved about the arena and would change ends during intermission to be on the end we were shooting. Sat in the padded chairs in handicapped on Saturday night, both ends, and nobody bothered us. My biggest complaint was and always has been the smell. They don't have adequate exhaust ventilation for their fryers and the smell of burnt grease is nauseating. Face it, it's a 30 some year old arena built for basketball. It was the NCHC's only option as the X was locked up by the WCHA at the time the new league was formed. During the Friday night game v. Denver the last thing on my mind was the arena I was watching it in. As someone stated earlier it could have been in an old cow barn and I would have been glad I didn't miss it. Besides ,where else can you get to pee in a trough anymore?:D

Clearly it must have been built prior to the concept of hot water in rest rooms hit Minneapolis.

I will give them credit, they have made improvements.  The new video screen was impressive.  The ushers were much more friendly than experienced in early years of the tournament.  The food quality has improved since year 1, but it is still very greatly overpriced and not much of it is worth eating.  I was getting tired of watching skaters falling down all by themselves every time they tried to skate near the end boards.  The ice conditions were not good on the ends.  The middle seemed fine, but hockey uses the whole sheet of ice.  They have lowered the building temperature significantly to help fix the ice, but only sell coffee at one concession stand and no hot chocolate at any of them.  They will get my input again, not that it will help.

Also chatted with a guy and his familwho drove from Hazen ND. Fun bunch he brought with him!  30 years ago, nobody in that neck of the woods knew UND had a hockey team.

Excuse me,  but I am from 10 miles west of there (Beulah) and I have known about UND hockey since October 1975 since I started at UND, which is now 40+ years ago.  And so did my Mom, because I quit coming home for Thanksgiving and was heading back early at Christmas if there was a hockey game.  See you at the Hogg in 50 minutes.

I may have 4 seats available for the Non-Sioux games if you want them. You would have to sit with me and my daughter...Lol. The rest of the family will be shopping during the other two games. If they don't go, which I think is a huge possibility, they are yours free...

    114 row P.

Not going to work.  Once you are in the door, to leave and come back in you have to have a non-removable wrist band.  So they can't leave after the first game and let someone else come in to watch the next game.  The tickets cannot be rescanned (or maybe the correct terminology is they will not be rescanned).

Random question about the game last night.  On St. Cloud's non-second goal, why was the unsportsmanlike penalty called when the goal was waived off due to too many men?  I know it was the same guy, but they still called the unsportsmanlike.  Seems to me that if they were able to call that, that UND should have had a 5-on-3 power play.  Or at least just called too many men.  I'm just curious, because I can't follow the logic.

The unsportsmanlike penalty was called very shortly after the goal was scored.  It might have been due to taunting or something else he did toward UND players.  Then the potential issue of too many men on the ice was raised.  The play was reviewed and there were clearly 6 SCSU skaters plus a goalie on the ice.  The goal was waived off due to too many men, but a minor penalty cannot be called based on a review.  So while the goal was waived off, the officials could not penalize SCSU for too many men under the rules for reviews.  They also could not take away the unsportsmanlike penalty either.  So it became just a one man short power play instead of two men short.

Here is a  faint green weenie observation.   Unlike past years, perhaps,  the NCAA committee will do everything that they can to keep the Gophers out of the West Regional.   The reasons for this are, of course,  obvious.   See all of you believers around the arenas . . . .

Obviously they will keep Minnesota out of Fargo.  That place is already sold out so they will send MN elsewhere to boost attendance, and ... oh, wait.....this is MN.....never mind.

How about TC giving you complimentary tickets to a Timberwolves game for being honest and calling to inquire about the mix-up?

Went to a T-Wolves game once, and that was enough.  First, Target Center sold us tickets and then sold the same tickets to someone else.  We got the seats unfortunately.  It was three quarters of screwing around garbage basketball and then a fourth quarter of trying to be serious.  Won't ever go again.

  9. My impression last night was this team went out and got drunk after the Friday night win.  They could not do the most basic things, like skate.  Guys were falling down all over the place for no reason.  UNO was not falling down so it couldn't have been the ice.  Did someone screw up on skate sharpening?  Possible.  They couldn't make a decent pass, they couldn't catch a decent pass, etc.  That is what makes me think hungover syndrome.  And that falls on team leadership.  What else could explain the drastic change in play from one night to the next?
