The Grand Forks fans can even check their progress by driving 2 1/2 hours north to Winnipeg. They can also get a look at the new MTS Centre. Below is a portion of the press release for this event: "The event gets underway on Tuesday, January 31, with the 2006 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. (CT). The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, February 1, and will be televised live in North America."

I'm starting to see where WJCFAN is going with this thread. He had a very bad experience in Vancouver so now he wants to get back at those lousy Canadians. Jonathan is Canadian so therefore go after him. This thread belongs in the same category and "Hak versus whoever". Stop while you are behind WJCFAN!

Ok here is how it works. Kessel finishes at the top of the scoring with 11 points. His plus/minus is zerooooo! Borque finished fifth in scoring with 8 points. His plus/minus is minus one! Porter with 6 points. Minus 2. Top scorers for Canada are Blake Comeau and Dustin Boyd with 7 point and 6 points respectively. Both finish with a plus 7. Barker and Downie with 6 points. Both finish at plus 6. You have to play both ends of the ice. It isn't good enough to just score.

Toews just has 3 World Championship Gold Medals hanging in his bedroom. He just wins.
-
Canada's 1988's are even stronger than the 87's. Don't believe any nonsense otherwise. Team Canada will be loaded next year.
-
Our lousy technology (i.e., high speed internet, microwave, satellite capabilities) has allowed us to follow the US team better than anybody south of the border (and I'm including feeds from US sources). You have never stepped across the border if you really think we don't have the technology up here to compete with anybody in the rest of the world. And I will also remind you that a huge part of the Sioux teams are Canadian. Yes the Vancouver fans were morons. So what! Like I said in another post, they hate everybody. Don't take it personally.

Jack Johnson's waving to the crowd at the end was priceless. This kid is going to be a good hockey player. He will also get some great coaching from Kevin McCarthy who is the defence coach for the Hurricanes. Good luck to Jack, he finished with a smile on his face despite the tough week.

Looks like Quebec has won it 5-2. Check out my post on Sioux Recruits, i.e. Colin Wilson.
-
I've mentioned this kid before but I think people should really start to keep track of him. Colin Wilson who is playing for the USA Under 17's. Colin just scored the opening goal for USA in the Under 17's Gold Medal Final against Team Quebec. Scored 2 goals yesterday in the Semi Final. Second leading scorer for USA in this tournament with 8 points. Six goals and 2 assists. Colin is from Winnipeg and The Sioux would be a great fit for him and his family.

The cable provider is going to be available on a new satellite that is being launched in late January. Should be able to pick up the games next year hopefully on Ku.

I thought about this last night as well. If you really want to get back at them then simply boycott the Olympics altogether. The one thing that everybody on this board has to understand is that B.C. doesn't really like anybody. To them, everybody else east of the Rockies are Eastern Bums. And the U.S.A. Sucks chants really started in the 70's when everybody in the rest of Canada used to say B.C. Sucks!
-
And then the Russians and Canadians would get kicked out of the Tournament and the U.S. wins gold as predicted (assumming they win the bronze medal game)

Toews is doing exactly what Sutter wants him to do. He is not here to win the scoring championship. He is here to try and win a Gold Medal. Toews is playing great in his own zone. He is not using any high risk plays because Sutter hates those. He is sticking his a$$ in the goalies face during the PP just like Sutter wants it. I simply can't ever see Kessel standing in front of the net like Toews while the D are firing bullets past his head. He simply wouldn't do it. Toews will and so will Oshie and that is the difference between these guys and Kessel.
-
Didn't work against Parent the other night. I'm pretty sure Parent told him "Nice Move" to Kessel after he smacked in the face on the 1 on 1.
-
I don't think Latendresse can skate with the Russians. His skating looks awfully rough to me. Must have exceptional hands. He was also a spectator in his own zone for one of the few shifts he got tonight. He basically let the strong side point man go right by him. His feet where nowhere near where they are supposed to be. I'm pretty sure Sutter would have seen the same thing.
-
Toews played alright. He did the usual two or three beautiful setups for his linemastes and they produced nothing out of it. I don't know what to say. He is playing just fine from my perspective but he is not getting any real support from his wingers. They are supposed to be snipers but I'm not so sure. They moved him over to the half wall on the PP and they seemed to do a little better with him there as far as puck movement. They had Poulet there before and he just wasn't producing.
-
I want to appolgize for all Canadians regarding the behaviour of the B.C. crowd. I am absolutely appalled at how stupid these people are. I hope the cheer when the U.S. scores is louder than what we heard for the Russians. This is beyond comprehension.
-
I suggest you find a copy of that last rush before you decide who did what. Johnson made the first slash while trying to get back into the play. He wasn't able to get to Chipchira so he decided to give Downie, the Canadian who passed the puck up to Chipchira a slash. Downie gave him a mild slash back, not 2 or 3 as you suggest. It looked like it was over when Johnson pretended to look away and then he suckered Downie with an elbow. If you want to go after a guy then do it face to face. Johnson is lucky he is still be in this tournament (maybe).
-
Hockey stats indicate Russ Parent is from Winnipeg. Ryan Parent is from Sioux Lookout. Close but not close enough to suggest they are related.
-
Well if you had looked at it really carefully on the replays you would have noticed that Johnson slashed him first. Downie then put his stick on the back of Johnson's leg as retalitation. Johnson then pretented everything was cool and looked away. He then smashed him in the head with his elbow. It was pretty gutless. At that point the game was basically over.
-
I'm pretty sure Canada outshot the US in the third so it's a bit of a stretch to suggest they were hanging back. I think Canada just played a smarter game than the US. They used all 4 lines because they could and the Canadian D was solid. Cam Barker is the second highest drafted player in this draft. He was selected after Malkin so I was not surprised to see how he manhandled Kessel on a few occassions. Kessel will have to get used to that type of play because Barker is a pretty averaged size NHL D man. He is roughly 6'3 and 215 to 220 pounds.
-
The US needed a win. Canada just needed the tie.
-
You asked if there is someone doing as well as Oshie. His name is Dustin Boyd. Another Winnipeg boy! 2-0 Winnipeg
-
Barks scored. Snapper! Canada 1-0
