I believe South would have to scrore 3 goals and of course win to give them the advantage. Red River plays Grafton one more time so they could regain that advantage . The goals RR would need to score depends on Souths goals on Thursday. If South would score 3 and win, that would give them the advantage buy a 1 goal. RR would have to score 2 in their next meeting to win the tie breaker.

I agree, if you are wrong on any of those goals - don't bother to ever come back to this site. We don't like surprises.

Nice post. Exactly, a nice program and it provides opportunities for more kids to compete. Nice coaching staff as well and I hope they stick with it as there seems to be help coming down the Shanley pipeline. You confirmed my point that Shanley does play all lines, although differentially, in their games. From what I have seen they have 2 and one-half lines at times - and of course, they have converted Marc Harrie to defense to help out back there.

After further thought I have to question your perception of how Shanley runs their program. Initially, Tim Gravalin and the Burgraffs coached the team. Now Mark Pivetz is the coach. Although I have seen only 3-4 Shanley games a season from the beginning of their recent program I have to question the assessment that "Since bringing hockey back, Shanley has played no more than 2 lines against the good teams,....." No more than two lines? Although that has happened (2 line rotation), that does not square with what I have seen as a universal rule on how they manage players over the past - 4 to 5 years. But for the sake of discussion let's assume that what you say is true. Shanley is typically at the bottom/lower half of the conference and with the exception of a year or two and some upset wins, has struggled. Certainly they are this year, despite their current record, and also did last year. So if they only play their top two lines against good competition and play the others against weaker teams then they are not doing much to develop their players. With all due respect I think your perceptions of their program are off base. They run a nice program and I don't think they would do what you say. Oftentimes when it is not possible to win a game the 3rd and 4th liners get a chance too. Unless you have not clearly explained yourself I would have to say that what you have said about Shanley is not a positive as it really does not give all of the kids a chance to compete in many games at all because they have struggled (had close games) with the competition. Is there someone out there with some knowledge who can give another independent view on this discussion.

Having seen Shanely play several times this season I would have to disagree with your assessment that Shanley was playing some of their players who do not normally see ice time. Shanley has no kids that do not normally see ice time from what I have seen this season. They all play because they do not have that many players. They have had a challenge even getting three distinct lines together because of low numbers (They lost underclassmen Trevor Anderson 2 years ago and Kris Graalum this year). Shanley has also been short due to player absence (vs Red River) and an injury (Thomas). Are there any others who have actually seen Shanley play and can comment on this? If what you say is true and Shanley indeed gives kids a chance mainly when they are against weaker competition then the weaker kids don't play hardly at all because of the games that Shanley has won, nearly all have been by a goal or two (5 of 7 - plus they had a tie). Their biggest win was a 4-0 game against Red Lake Falls. How many Shanley games have you seen this year? Is there anyone who actually attended the game who can comment as that is the category of person that the question was directed to.

Here we have a Grand Forks fan/player/whatever complaining about the refs impacting the game/career of a Red River player? What is this world coming to. I thought that only Fargo people complained about the refs.

Central and Red River were tied 1-1 in the third and North beat Shanley 3-0. First time Shanley has been shut out this year.

Another strong game by South with the 5-2 win, up the road at Blake North put up a decent effort losing 6-3 to Blake.

For the stat padding you got the city right but the school wrong. It is the other Fargo Public school that pads their stats on the teams that are in the play-in situation.

In 83-84 Central was classless. In 05 South is classless. Some people learned in youth hockey how not to exploit a relatively helpless opponent. Apparently the lesson was never taught in some parts of the state. There are no excuses for this. Class or the lack of it is not something tied to where you live. There are people all over who have it and also those who do not. This is not a geography issue.

Wahpeton put a forward in as goalie in the third period - it was 20-0 after two periods and they poured it on the forward/goalie with 5 more goals. South's top line players kept putting points up in the third period -check the box score in the local papers - . They even pounded in their 25th goal with a minute and a half left in the game - just to make sure the Wahps would not mount a comeback.

Did they have run time in the third period or did the South timekeeper keep stopping the clock like he did in the last game when they were up by 6 goals?

Hey sooperfan - like you I read this forum regularly but am not always moved to make a post. I noticed the following post that you made earlier this year. You ripped an individual for criticizing a player and then not identifying themselves. In effect, running someone down behind the protection of a screen name. You had a word for that person - "gutless." Well, the same label applies to you as you write negatives about people like Mark Bry yet hide behind the protection of a screen name. If you are so honorable then step forward and back up your post with your name. If not then you are in the same cowardly category as the person you called "gutless." Ifyou rate it by quality scoring chances which is how they are doing it on the Ralph official scoring sheet his perc. is actually better than Shanes.

There are a number of very good goaltenders in the state, and he would be one of them. This whole conversation started because it was stated he would start for any other team except South in the state, and that is simply not true.

The stats do speak for themselves as it relates directly to who he played . He did have a nice game against Minot as I was there. I think he had somewhere in the 30's in that game.I think almost half of his total came in the Minot game. However, 1 save against Shanley, does not prove him a top goaltender in the state.

I find it interesting you rate him so high. Out of the few games he played in, only two of the games were against above .500 teams of which he lost one and tied the other.
