  1. What I observed, or more accurately "think I observed", is that both coaching staffs decided not to make the adjustments to what each team was doing. Heck, Minnesota saw what we were doing on the PK and could have changed their attack in response. They didn't. Same thing on our breakouts and neutral zone; we didn't really change what we were doing.

Interested in what other people saw. Or what they think they saw. ;)

I think MN did alter its PP early in the game. MN needs its d-men to run the PP and UND did a nice job of pressuring the points and forcing the puck low where MN is not nearly as comfortable. To counter MN snuck a guy into the high slot which forced UND to sag back some from the MN points. Didn't result in any goals but did allow MN to control the puck more while on the PP. That's what I think I saw.

  2. On the flip side, I'd much rather have to delete one troll than turn away new members at the time of peak interest. Though it sucks to have 1 troll who needed to be banned, I'm sure glad I didn't turn away the other 32 new registrants in the last 7 days!

Fully understand....Jup only does it during the NCAAs.

  3. A good point, but yes, I'd rather play the Gophers. They aren't easily beatable despite our results in January, but I hate watching UW play. It's worse than watching Poker. BORING. SCSU/UND tilt today was at least entertaining.

UW really makes the game painfull to watch.

  4. Every game that I watch Wisconsin play puts me to sleep. I can't imagine why anyone would want to play in that kind of a system.

It's not often I agree with you Goon but truer words have never been spoken. UW is the cricket of hockey: long & boring.

  5. Siouxtraveler and bertibm, with all due respect, you guys need to settle your differences somewhere else. We all owe bertibm a hand because he's the one who spearheads this every year and gets the ice & ref lined up. Siouxtraveler, you made me look good as the SS.com organizer last year by sending a couple of solid players even though I had told you that SS.com had enough players. A couple of SS.com players weren't able to make it on game day, so your two players gave us needed depth. But this game is not about bertibm or Siouxtraveler. Each year the game has been a blast, and I say that from the perspective of one who has played in a couple of games and watched as a spectator (I'm much better at being a spectator). Let's not let personal issues put a petty end to something that's unique and pretty f'in cool in the world of college hockey. Pardon the language, but Toews is my hero and I guess it just slipped.

    Bravo. :silly:

  6. Thats fine if you disagree, however, they Badgers have gone 2-2 in the new year. Granted they have a cream puff schedule in the second half as well, the problem is they can't score goals in their last 4 games they have scored 1, 4, 2, 0. I don't know about you but you have to score to win.

The BADgers couldn't score in a whorehouse.

  7. Yep that was what I was talking about. ;)

I figured you were just blocking....after all Ballard schooled some poor over-matched Sioux forward in the corner, jumped into the play and scored the game winner. Meanwhile, back in MN's end, the poor over-matched Sioux forward pulled his jersey down just in time to see the Gophers celebrate the beginning of a glorious post season run. ???

What does this have to do with this weekend's series? Absolutely nothing other than it's fun to reminisce. I remember this one time in Detroit when this freshman from Roseau flicks the puck over the Sioux goalie..... ;)

  8. Judging from the look on Greyeagle's face when he first met me, Gopher fans are still intimidated by their presence. :whistling:

I just never expected someone so hip to be so old. :D How's that for a backhanded compliment?

However, you're still not old enough to get one of the coveted gold Mariucci "security" jackets. :)

  9. Parking isn't nearly as bad as it's been suggested earlier in this thread, I don't think any lots have closed yet due to stadium construction. Personally, I usually park in the ramp right by Sally's, it's only $5, not a bad walk, and one is near Sally's or Stub's for post game libations.

  10. Jup turns the heavy handed stuff over to the GPL moderators, and at least one of them is a real weenie..... ???

I can't remember for sure, but I don't think I've had to censor a Sioux fan (at least those from this site who post on GPL too) for being crude or inflammatory and of course one would hope Gopher fans would extend the same courtesy to this site.

  11. Normally I would agree with you, but we're talking about players who are owned by two teams that each have disasterous front offices.

I really don't know what Chicago will do with Toews or NY will do with Okposo. If I were them, I'd stay in college as long as I could.

Hopefully (in Okposo's case) long enough to become a free agent.

  12. Plus, the Sioux have the luxury of practicing on the big ice before they go to minny, ect. if they choose.

Where is the ocean in GF? Part of the Ralph? Just curious.

MN typically practices at Ridder before a series or game played on an NHL size rink.
