  1. [ When you are paid as a scout for the NHL, then you can make the above statement regarding the talents of Toews, Oshie and Lee. If you think you can coach any better, then suit it up buddy!
  2. Hi back, Thetrouixper. He's great; busy of course. He's happy Ottawa beat the Wild last night. Ottawa is a little like the Sioux right now. I would never ever put my team under the bus, however! We will be at the Ralph on Dec 1. I would like to meet you since you have already met Bill. How can that be done? Not sure where our seats are though.

  4. He always enjoys talking hockey. Now that you mention GF, that rings a bell. He is already scheduling his weekend travels to the USHL, WCHA and high school games. He will be in GF (with me in tow), Dec 1 for the game with Sioux against the Michigan high school kids league. I can't remember what that league is called off the top of my head. If you sit high enough in the rink maybe you will spot him. He likes the high seats for scouting or whatever Cary Eades finds for him. It seems the talent isn't as strong as it was a few years ago though. What do you think?
  5. Ok, you all have valid points. Now stop the bickering, please. You sound like little school boys on the playground! You all can be legends in your minds, so you all can be Double Secret Agent Midwest Ottawa hockey scouts? Does that please you?
  6. You found me out! Yes his name is Bill. I wasn't at that game but he said it was an excellent game. He always liked Brian Lee and was very happy that Ottawa was able to get him 9th overall in the first round in 2005. Are you from Warroad? He said he talked with someone for a long time during the game who was very knowledgable. Could that be you? Thanks for the kind words as well.
  7. Anytime, mikejm, and you are welcome!
  8. My husband, the Midwest Ottawa scout, agrees with your assessment, mikejm. I just read him your response to Redwing (and others) and he says it's a fairly accurate statement. Maybe he will be a Bobby Orr....we can only hope ( my words not his).
  9. I remember Gordy as a big teddy bear with a fu manchu mustache. Great guy and very unassuming. I read his obit in the Bismarck Tribune this morning and was very stunned to learn of his death. Just a class year behind me at UND. Makes you think of your own mortality abit. Is there a goalie net in Heaven?
  10. The Toronto Maple Leafs have not had steller seasons for oh, forever, but the old Maple Leaf Gardens was sold out each and every night. The people who attend those games, go for the love of the sport. Period. I can't stand people who bitch and complain about a team's poor season. If you are a true fan of the sport (any sport), you go to a game regardless if your home team sucks or not. When I graduated from UND in 1975, the teams from 71 to 75 were horrible (and so was Coach Rube Bjorkman). The old Barn was always full as was the new (at the time) Winter Sports Arena. Now we were either too drunk to care or huge fans, but at least we loved our Sioux Hockey.
  11. Isn't this deja vu all over again from last year? I was at the UND/Wisc game on Thursday, March 17, 2005 and UND beat Wisconsin....Wierd, huh?
  12. Yes, he was an assistant under Dean Blais when they won the NCAA in 1997. He was also a player when Wissy won the NCAA in 1990. My husband was his Bantam coach in Burnsville and we are really good friends with the family. My husband is sitting in his seats at today's game while I am at work reading these threads. I am going to whatever game tomorrow (It will be in the championship game (UND vs whomever). I will wear my green that is for sure. My husband is an Ottawa Senator scout so he doesn't care who wins ( but he sure likes Brian Lee!) Go Sioux!
  13. It was killing me not to mention all the info on Lee, but I couldn't spill the "pillow talk" if you know what I mean!
  14. My husband is the Midwest scout for the Ottawa Senators and he had Lee at the top of his list and really pushed for him at their team meetings in June. The head scout came to town during the State hockey tourney to see Niskinin (sp) and Lee. Frankie Jay (head scout) was very impressed with Lee in March. My husband really liked Niskinin too ( I know he is a UMD recruit). Can't remember where he was drafted. After the lottery moved Ottawa up from 23rd to 9th pick overal, Ottawa was pretty sure they could nab Lee at #9 since Central Scouting had him at #15. I am pretty sure Lee will be with UND for at least 2 years. When I talked to my husband from Ottawa last night, he said Lee was so excited and so happy. Pretty much on cloud nine. BTW, first time poster, big time voyuer reading all the posts.
