  1. i have a samsung 42 plasma in 720. I have a friend w/ the identical tv in 1080. Nobody has been able to tell the difference. It all depends on viewing distance and what your into.

I love mine, no complaints. Agree if you have windows get LCD>

  2. Stand up on a breakaway, then sit down--that's not rude. In church, maybe, but not at the rink.

Now, to stand up, howl at the moon and urinate over as many rows below you as your stream can reach is just outside the range of acceptable hockey behavior.

    hahaha.

thats pretty much how i see it as well. im not trying to be inconsiderate to those behind me, but it is a natural reaction and im at the game for a good time and be involved in the game, not to sit and observe. i could do that at home.

  3. maybe im slow, but im having trouble judging the response to my question.

Was i out of line to stand up during a breakaway? thats it, no being a rude a hole doing it all game...

it seems like it is about 50-50 out there.

  4. I dont know where to post this, so i'll throw it in here.

I was given seats by a colleague tonight, 103 P. Nice seats on the corner.

the first period, mario goes on a breakaway, i realize it; stand up to anticipate the goal.

From behind me i hear " SIT DOWN, these are good seats, watch the game."

If they were my seats, i woulda told the guy to go f.... himself.

I dont want a problem for my buddy, since they are his seats.

That is the problem with the crowd.

I have to be told to sit down during an exciting play???

i want to get season tickets, are there any sections i can enjoy the game and stand and cheer?

good lord. thanks for ruining the experience you ass hat.

  5. No I'm not mad at those guys because they showed up every week and played hard. None of those players would have considered yesterday's performance acceptable. What was acceptable about yesterday's performance? What was acceptable about the loss to Sioux Falls or the blowout loss to Southern Utah? Why should continuing underperformance be considered acceptable? It's how things work in the real world. Either you produce or your gone.

its a waste of energy. Dags seems to want to let things slide because he is so proud he is the coaches buddy. yawn

  6. I'm not necessarily going to complain about Kristo at this juncture, since it seems that every season we eventually reach a point where we start complaining about "one too many passes" leading to missed opportunities by the forwards. We may grow to appreciate his willingness to let it fly.

bingo, we heard the same thing about our captain 3 years ago.

  7. You might want to compare houses and their values of the two cities. Grand Forks house seem to be more over priced. Just saying.

My wife's aunt built a new house in Fargo a few years ago for about 90,000 and that same house would probably cost a lot more in Grand Forks, ND.

Maybe we are comparing apples to oranges or apples to apples. The fact remains that the Alerus center is a drain on the city no matter how you slice it.

I think the main point is the city is playing loose with our money and Whistler has done a pretty good job breaking down the issues over on Say anything blog.

that is not fact, goon, but opinion.

Does it lose money operationally. Yes

Is it a net positive for economic stimulus. Yes

Its just semantics, the sewer system costs more than it makes, do you want to implode that too?

  8. as stated, the genius Body Ventura really had everybody fooled w/ the LGA/low property tax law. Thats apples and oranges now to compare mn to nd for tax rates. My friend in moorhead only pays 1900 a year in taxes on a lot on the river. I pay 3300. His income tax is likely 50% higher than mine. Ill take the extra couple thousand i pay in property tax, and know im not going to lose services like he is because my city has to get its money from the state. I cant understand why anyone making more than 35k would live in EGF before GF. You save on property tax, but its a net loss on income tax.

GF is cheap, dont kid yourselves. The alerus, while not operating in the black, is still a valuable assest and commodity here in grand forks, and a reason to retain young people that build the tax pool. Alerus=more visitors=more hotels=more jobs=housing prices rise=more tax dollars. There is a reason people have polled to be more "attached" to grand forks than in the past, because there is more to do.

I'll happily pay my tax bill, and continue to enjoy the amenitites our city provides.

  9. I just purchased the video webcast. Quality seems pretty decent. Very watchable, for sure. Hopefully it doesn't start getting choppy as more people connect.

i didnt have to pay. im watching the band right now.
