I get the politics in this thread - does show some true colors.    But, I don't get the plan ???
Something about this fast spreading Covid-19 just doesn't make sense. Can it really be all about to flatten the curve in turn for a longer torture, or will many die?
Governments making such a BIG deal of this virus along with putting the economies of the world a risk, like something really big isn't being told here.

I’m not a huge conspiracy person by any means, but believing our government tells us the complete truth on anything is a fair statement to think about sometimes. Whether it’s this, other medical stuff, the economy, etc.

It feels like a real life game of Survivor with our government: “Outwit, Outlast, Outplay”. The truth is unfortunately somewhere in between the extremes. That’s just my opinion.

Interesting take in Newsweek.  Part and parcel of covid-19 being less prevalent,t but far more dangerous than the flu.

We are still awaiting the peak of the epidemic in Europe: probably early April for Italy, mid-April for Germany and Switzerland, somewhere around that time for the UK. In the U.S., the infection has only just begun.

But why the urgency (to self-quarantine), if most people survive?

Here's why: Fatality is the wrong yardstick. Catching the virus can mess up your life in many, many more ways than just straight-up killing you. "We are all young"—okay. "Even if we get the bug, we will survive"—fantastic. How about needing four months of physical therapy before you even feel human again. Or getting scar tissue in your lungs and having your activity level restricted for the rest of your life. Not to mention having every chance of catching another bug in hospital, while you're being treated or waiting to get checked with an immune system distracted even by the false alarm of an ordinary flu. No travel for leisure or business is worth this risk.

This isn’t directed at anyone except for this poorly written article, but the virus hasn’t even been around for 4 months yet unless my math is wrong.

How someone can type this with what I assume is minimal or zero proofreading is why there is hysteria in this country.

So what happened? Covid spread for several weeks, without most people knowing anything, nor did the administration care to do anything about it.  "We have it totally under control.  It's just one person coming from China.  It's going to be just fine." - Trump, Jan 22, 2020

The bolded part is what some of us are saying: No one knew or cared about this virus until a week ago and we were all OK going about our lives.

But, Because the media IMO is blowing this thing out of the water, look where we are now. It’s ridiculous in public because of a false panic/hysteria. Everyone is still out shopping, restaurants are busy, etc.

How big of a deal was the flu this season?Really big relative to this from what I can tell and I don’t really remember hearing anyone blow up the news about the number of people that died from the flu so far. How many people have gone to work with a cold/flu in the past 2-3 months? Lots. And no one missed a beat because it’s flu season.

When things settle down, will Americans be ready to have a conversation regarding why hospitals operate on very thin margins when it comes to resources like ICU beds, staffing, isolation gear, diagnostic test kits, devices, etc? Here's a starter: even though a pandemic from viruses like coronavirus has widely been anticipated, pharma companies have little motivation to work on medications that "might" be needed and won't see daily ongoing use even if they are needed, because such work isn't profitable to them.

In my opinion, The reality is in the business world you don’t make or buy things you don’t need at that moment. That’s why we are in more of a reactive state vs. proactive state. That’s just the reality, I don’t stock things at my business that I might need in 3, 6, or 9 months.

That’s wasting money and preventing me from buying other things with that money.

The scientists say their best guess is 800,000 adults in the USA will die from the coronavirus.

Dont worry I'll check in a year or two to see how accurate they were.

But I'm suppose to also make a guess? Haha

I'll guess.......it won't be anywhere close to that death total.

So 20,000 have died from the flu this season. And now they’re predicting 800,000 for this? That’s 40 times the amount of people.

Get outta here. This is ridiculous.

  6. All I know is that if someone(NDSU) was questioning my honesty and integrity, I’d call a spade a spade. Name the coach if it’s true.

NDSU is throwing him under the bus and calling him a liar in the article.

Someone is lying. Time to show your cards.

Had a grinder at U Red Pepper yesterday, it's the bread. Definitely not as good as the Hugo's bread. Do I sound like a Sioux Forever fan?

Hard to believe they’d make such a drastic change to save a buck or 2. How many years had they used the Hugo’s bread?

Whatever the costs savings were on the bread, the fallout will be greater IMO for the overall business.

Just a poor, silly, and dumb decision. Support a local business.

Ate at the Pepper on 42nd today. Buns sucked. My wife liked it. My son and I said nyet. How long must this travesty continue?

Ate at the University Avenue one on Saturday. Buns were terrible still.

Heard they were getting them from a Canadian Company.

I also think that Bast and Mismash could be elite players in this league. They were decent players last year. I’d consider them high end. Setiguchi started to  make an impact at the end of the season. I don’t think UND is a bunch of talentless hacks.

Setiguchi? Is he related to Kawasaki or Hitachi?

    Try again there Goon.

  10. I’m not a mental health expert by any means, but I just can’t fathom in any way, shape, or form why an adult does this to children. A real selfish decision in my opinion. No words or actions justify harming an adult harming a child. Children in this case.

Every person in this world is on their own path in life, and to have it taken away before they can live and experience it is really sad.

My nephew was a classmate on of these kids. Tough discussion I’m sure. Just a pretty sobering reality of life currently.

UND budget cuts wonder how safer the pensions are for ND employees. A lot of people in our great country are getting life damaging news. Your getting half of what you thought you were going to get. Managing money in governnent in the USA were proving to be piss poor at it. God help us.

Why people trust a government with their money is mind boggling. You have better odds of winning the lottery than getting your full value from the government.
