  1. I've never seen or read anything to indicate that SDSU was more than a one-time game.
  2. My guess is it will be a DII or NAIA as the season opener, giving us another 6 home game schedule.
  3. It is quite obvious to me that the decision to fill out the schedule with multiple sub-DI teams was mostly a fiscal one. I don't know what it cost NDSU to get St. Francis for 2011, but I know it cost a little over $100,000 for them to bring in Wagner. I also know that that was the neighborhood of the cost for us to bring in Stony Brook in 2009 when UND and NDSU were actually in a bidding war to get that team to come to either Grand Forks or Fargo and UND won. One can also assume that is in the area of what we paid Lamar to come to Grand Forks last season. When NDSU drew 18,000 @ $15/ticket for Wagner, they grossed $270,000. When UND drew 6,000 @ $15/ticket for Lamar, they grossed $90,000------not even enough to pay the opponent and pay the rent for the Alerus that week. And unless the Drake game is a home-and-home, which is possible, I'll bet it still cost close to $100k to get them to ride a bus up here. Being it is for the season opener, the athletic department stands an outside chance of breaking even on that game. By comparison, knowing that Sioux Falls cost $60,000 for two games, one can assume that the going rate for these regional sub-DI games in 2011 dollars is probably $35-45,000. The point is, the A.D. needs butts in the seats in order to pay to bring in the "quality" competition that so many here say they want. So if you wanna see "better" OOC competition, you better start showing up for Black Hills and Montana Western.
  4. The 2009 home opener against South Dakota was the last sell-out.
  5. No, I just personally preferred the 4:00 starts..........................
  6. UND Press Release: Six home football games on tap for 2011 Cal Poly will be the homecoming game................... 1:00 start time for all home games except for Drake & Black Hills
  7. My guess is that Cal Poly and USD will have the worst turnout of all the games. I believe the Poly game falls on the deer hunting opener, and hunting is still going on when the USD game will be played. Also, hockey is in full swing by November, and to a good number of fans, once hockey season starts football season is effectively over.
  8. UND has posted the schedule on the website..................................................just to warn you.............you're not gonna like it. 3 Sub-DI teams: Sioux Falls, Montana Western, and Black Hills St. Northern Colorado added as an away game. 2011 Schedule
  9. I wasn't there, but watching the webcast and listening to the audio, it seemed like the atmosphere was pretty good during the first half..................................I'm not surprised the 2nd half would be sterile when there was usually a 20 point lead for one team over the other. Regardless, when nearly 11,000 people want to watch a virtually meaningless basketball game between two teams that normally draw a couple thousand, that tells me the rivalry isn't quite dead or on life-support yet.
  10. UND Stats 30% FG percentage 1-13 on 3's 73% on Freethrows Outrebounded 43-37 15 Turnovers (11 in the 2nd half) Mitchell & Webb had 12, Wilmer had 10 NDSU Stats 9 turnovers 51% Field Goals 4-13 on 3's 15-29 Freethrow percentage
  11. We've now lost two straight to in-state opponents. Hopefully the streak is snapped on Tuesday against Mayville St. As we saw last year, that is no guarantee.
  12. Seems to me the biggest difference between these two teams is that NDSU can consistently make shots from farther than 10 feet away. North Dakota cannot. The Sioux played how they normally play throughout the entire game. NDSU just shot poorly in the 1st half.
  13. Very disappointing the way the team came out in the second half.
  14. 49 North Dakota 71 NDSU ~4:00 left Derek Benter fouls out.
  15. Huff misses dunk....................... Allard throws up an air ball......................... Huff misses layup.......................
  16. Pat Mitchell just fouled out with 6:00 left................
  17. 20-4 run by NDSU to open the second half.
  18. Wheels starting to come off a bit now, NDSU on 12-0 run. UND throwing up 25 footers
  19. He's having a nice game so far. He had the one ferocious rejection as well, but he's also altered several shots too.
