Would love to see South Dakota remain on the schedule in the coming years for all sports, but I have my doubts.................... The fact that we still are not playing NDSU in women's basketball and that there is no agreement beyond the 2011-12 season with NDSU for men's basketball leaves to believe that logic does not always prevail when it comes to scheduling in the "revenue" sports. I would not at all be surprised to see USD off of the football schedule after the 2011 season............................

I'm guessing we'll have more than that one game in 2013......................

I had emailed Sean Johnson about the SDSU game earlier this winter..............I can't remember the specific date, but he told me that SDSU was scheduled for a September game at the Alerus in 2013.

I'd be pleased with 7-4........................

Hmmm............ I believe NDSU was able to set consecutive attendance records when they were going 10-1 and playing only for GWFC titles. And don't forget that NDSU's attendendance has been down since becoming playoff eligible and joinin the MVC. North Dakota loves a winner.........................there just not all that interested in who the wins come against..........

But whent the "big boys" come, I'd consider the #16 DI team in the country a "big boy", where were the fans?

If playoff ineligibility is the problem, then there wouldn't be any point in bringing in more "attractive" opponents this year. Grand Forks' sports fans love to see the 52-7 drubbings we would put on the Newberrys, Westchesters, and Humboldt States of the world.....................they'll be treated to more of that at home this season, and assuming we can smoke the NAIA's in convincing fashion, attendance will rise this season. Grand Forks loves a winner..........................

I think the majority of fans are not very knowledgable and really don't care who we play, they want to see wins, and hopefully this schedule will provide some and my guess is that is what will rejuvenate fan interest. The fact that only 6,000 fans showed up to see North Dakota play then #16 ranked Cal Poly in 2009 tells me that the average fans apparently don't have the desire to see "quality" DI teams in the Alerus like most of us on these forums probably do.

According to Fightingsioux.com, both games will be on channel 617 on DirecTV................................as posted above, all home games, save for one or two exceptions throughout the season are on either 617, 623, or 625 on DirecTV.

I'm not from Grand Forks. Other than just about every Sioux Football game played there, the only other event I've attended there is the Ozzy Osbourne concert. Given the fact that Sioux football and Ozzy are two of my favorite things in life, the Alerus has more than met my expectations............................ Seriously, how good or bad is the basketball setup in the Alerus, atmosphere wise and viewing wise? Never been to a game there, and I absolutely hated it when UND played in the REA except for NDSU, (I wasn't at the Kansas game, but I'd imagine that was a good time as well). I wouldn't be in favor of moving Sioux basketball to the Alerus, unless they were routinely drawing 6,000 or more. I wouldn't be adverse though to playing a known high-draw game there like NDSU. To me it wouldn't make much difference if such a game were in the Alerus or the REA. I suppose REA would still draw better though simply due to the facility and it being on campus (students currently can't seem to walk 3 blocks to the Betty, I'm sure the Alerus would seem like it is on another continent to them).

Very frustrating to lose by 16 when we had 10 point lead in the first half.

The last three "voices of Sioux Football", Dan Hammer, Ed Schultz, and Scott Miller, were all quite good IMO........................and they were all "outsiders". I'm kind of intrigued by the Darin Looker idea. Whoever it is, UND needs to make a smart hire here, someone who is knowledgable about the game, has a good radio personality and has a great radio voice that listeners will associate with the program, regardless of where he comes from.

For what it is worth, until WDAY came into the fold, one would be unable to hear any UND basketball games in the Fargo area. Prior to this season, games could only be heard on 100.3 FM around Grand Forks, which carries all UND basketball games.

Part of the agreement with WDAY is that in addition to broadcasting ALL Men's Hockey and Football games, they broadcast a "UND Game of the Week". Since the season started, they've broadcast a handful of volleyball, basketball, and I think maybe even a women's hockey game on a weekly basis. It is not part of their agreement to carry all basketball games or an entire double-header. My guess is that they only intended on broadcasting one of the basketball games last Saturday, and for whatever reason they decided to go with the women's game.

I disagree. Both newspapers are owned by the same company. The Herald was all over TJ Oshie's inablity to refrain from relieving himself while in an elevator. They were all over Brad Kelley and Bobby Stroup. Matt Frattin, Matt Greene.................They got the scoop when Robbie Bina thwarted Grand Forks' Finest...............................just last week a Forum writer attempted to blame the demise of the UND nickname on UND's own administration. Perhaps NDSU student-athletes are just more apt to getting into trouble?.................... It is afterall the larger of the two the Universities located in the larger city...........................more opportunities for kids to get into trouble..................................... I've never understood NDSU fan's disdain for the Forum and Fargo media in general. They have two guys (Izzo and Kolpack) blogging regulary, great Saturday coverage for football...............Most on Bisonville ordained Dan Hammer the anti-christ because he called UND games, despite the fact that 70% of his sports talk show was devoted to NDSU and he rarely talked about UND........................

This is a major bummer. I'm of the opinion that Murray was the most valuable player North Dakota had on both offense and special teams last season. He will not be as easy to replace as Bamba was..........
